About

Duran's Roofing is a long established family roofing company in central El Paso, at 5616 Dailey Ave. It describes itself as third generation family owned and fourth generation operated, serving El Paso for more than 70 years, under the motto "In work we have pride, quality is what we provide!" The BBB profile lists Luis Duran as owner and shows the business accredited since March 1993 with an A+ rating. The RCAT directory lists Chuy Duran as primary contact. The work mix leans toward the low slope systems common on El Paso buildings: new roofs, re-roofs, roof repairs, built-up roofing, roof coating, modified bitumen and roofing maintenance, on both homes and commercial property. The company says an experienced supervisor is on site, that everything goes in writing with no hidden cost, and that it is bonded and insured. It takes Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express, and offers financing through the Joist app. On credentials, the RCAT directory confirms this company holds the association's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential rather than plain membership. Its Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and TAMKO Pro Certified Contractor claims, and its membership of the Border Roofing Contractors Association of El Paso, are stated by the company on its own site and could not be confirmed in a manufacturer or association directory.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0160 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Chuy Duran provided excellent customer service keeping me informed of every step of the work for two properties of mine and even worked with my insurance company on documentation. The work looked great, of high quality, was clean and on time. There are very few companies that deliver this great service with attention to detail, as I have dealt with several contractors. I would call on Mr. Duran anytime again for my roofing needs.

Duran’s Roofing was highly recommend and I can’t say enough how satisfied we are with the work performed. Chuy Duran is very profesional and accurate. His crew has a strong work ethic. We received quality work at a very reasonable price. They are on time and clean up nicely after they are done. I highly recommend them and would definitely call upon them again should I need them in the future.

Having Duran’s Roofing install a new roof for us, was the best decision ever! The moment Jesus got off the company truck, you could see how well organized and professional he was. He represents a company who is family owned and takes a lot of pride in the customer service and quality of roof they provide. All the other companies we called, either didn’t show up on time for the estimate appt and/or tried to convince us to use lower quality materials. We highly recommend this company to our family and friends.

Frequently asked

Is Duran's Roofing state licensed?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Texas roofer holds one. What Duran's Roofing does hold is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, shown on its RCAT directory record, plus BBB accreditation. Always also ask for a current certificate of insurance naming you.
What is the difference between an RCAT member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT membership simply means the company belongs to the association and pays dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through RCAT's own programme. Duran's Roofing appears in the RCAT directory with the licensed designation, not membership alone.
Is Duran's Roofing BBB accredited?
Yes. The BBB profile for Duran's Roofing at 5616 Dailey Ave, El Paso shows the business BBB Accredited since 15 March 1993 with an A+ rating.
Is this the same business as Duran's Roofing and Remodeling in Rosenberg?
No. They are two separate and unrelated companies about 750 miles apart. The El Paso business is at 5616 Dailey Ave with the 915 area code, its own BBB profile and its own RCAT record. The Rosenberg business in Fort Bend County has different owners, a different address, a different phone number, a separate BBB profile and a separate RCAT record. The similar names and similar domains are a coincidence of a common surname.
Are its Owens Corning and TAMKO credentials verified?
Not independently. The company states on its own website that it is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and a TAMKO Pro Certified Contractor. Neither could be confirmed in the manufacturer's own contractor directory, so treat both as stated by the company and ask to see current certificates before signing.
What kinds of roofs does the company work on?
New roofs, re-roofs, repairs, built-up roofing, modified bitumen, roof coatings and ongoing maintenance, for residential and commercial customers. Those low slope systems reflect the flat and near flat roofs that are common across El Paso.
Does El Paso get the hail damage that North Texas gets?
Far less of it. El Paso sits well west of the North Texas hail belt. Locally the bigger stresses on a roof are intense UV exposure, wind driven rain and monsoon season downpours, which is why coatings, flashing detail and scheduled maintenance on flat roofs matter more here than impact rated shingles do.
Do I need a WPI-8 windstorm certificate in El Paso?
No. WPI-8 certificates apply only in the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties served by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. El Paso County is inland and is not part of that programme, so no WPI-8 inspection is involved.
Who handles permits and inspections?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so roofing permit rules are set locally. In El Paso that means the city's own permit and inspection requirements. Ask the contractor to confirm in writing that it will pull the permit and schedule the inspection.
What should I ask before signing?
Ask for current general liability and workers' compensation certificates, a written scope naming the exact system and underlayment, the workmanship warranty length and what voids it, the payment schedule, and written confirmation that your insurance deductible will be collected. It is illegal in Texas for a contractor to waive or rebate all or part of an insurance deductible.
