About

Cen-Tex Roofing & Renovations is a San Antonio roofing and exterior contractor. Its website lists an office at 11103 San Pedro Avenue, Suite 230, San Antonio, and the San Antonio BBB records a second address at 7200 Nugget Lane. The company has been a BBB Accredited Business since November 30, 2021 and holds an A+ BBB rating. The company covers residential and commercial roof inspection, repair, replacement and new installation, and extends beyond roofing into siding, windows, exterior painting, gutters and leaf gutter guards. It markets free roof inspections with aerial measurements, storm damage assessment, insurance claim assistance for wind and hail losses, and 24/7 emergency tarping and repair. Its site says all work is completed by in house crews rather than subcontractors. On materials, the company presents itself primarily as a GAF shingle installer, naming Timberline, Timberline HD and Camelot II lines, and also lists tile, metal and TPO systems. The GAF installer relationship is stated by the company and we were not able to confirm a certification tier on GAF's own directory.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0547 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Daniel was great to work with! He was professional, knowledgeable, and very responsive throughout the entire process. His crew was also excellent: courteous, hardworking, and easy to work with. I had my roof fully replaced, including decking and shingles, along with repairs to areas of fascia board and soffit. The whole process went smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommend!

Daniel and his team are outstanding! By far the best roofing company I have worked with. As a local Real Estate Broker, I tend to see more roofing problems than the average person and my first call is always Daniel. He shows up when he says he will. He is honest and has strong morals and integrity. His pricing is VERY competitive with the competition. He gets the job done timely, efficiently and gets it done right! I will always reccomend him because I know his reputation and morals match my own! Best roofer in the San Antonio and surrounding areas!

As a Realtor, it is so valuable to have a roofing contact I can confidently refer to friends, clients, and homeowners. Daniel Garcia with Centex Roofing is the real deal. I referred him to an old friend whose mom needed help with her roof, and the feedback I got back was incredible. She described Daniel as “the most absolute kindest, accommodating, and generous man,” and thanked me for the perfect referral. Daniel has also been quick, helpful, and easy to work with on roof patches, estimates, and payment plan options. It’s always a good feeling when you refer someone and they make you look good. Daniel absolutely did that. Highly recommend him and Centex Roofing.

Daniel Garcia and his team repaired my roof after a hailstorm. He was very thorough and knowledgeable. I appreciated his willingness to answer any questions I had. He even fixed an issue with my old roof before replacing it. And the work was completed in a timely manner and needless to say the roof looks great. He also repaired my fence and he and his team did a great job there as well. The fence looks great and they completed the project in a timely matter as well. What I appreciate about Daniel the most is his professionalism, patience and pride in his work. He was very courteous as well He was flexible with payments especially regarding our fence which I greatly appreciated. My experience was great working with Cen- Tex Roofing and Renovations. I highly recommend working wit this company.

Frequently asked

Is Cen-Tex Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so no Texas roofer holds one. The things a San Antonio homeowner can actually verify are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, the company's RCAT standing, and BBB record. Cen-Tex Roofing & Renovations is recorded by RCAT at the Licensed Roofing Contractor level, which is RCAT's own earned credential rather than a government licence.
What does RCAT Licensed mean, and how is it different from RCAT Member?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas has two separate things. Membership simply means the company pays dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and ongoing requirements. Cen-Tex is recorded at the Licensed level. Neither is issued by the State of Texas.
Is Cen-Tex Roofing BBB accredited?
Yes. The San Antonio BBB lists Cen-Tex Roofing & Renovations Inc. as a BBB Accredited Business since November 30, 2021, with an A+ rating. The BBB profile also lists two San Antonio addresses, on Nugget Lane and on San Pedro Avenue.
How long has the company been in business?
This is worth asking directly. The company's website says it has been replacing and repairing roofs in the area for over 25 years, while the San Antonio BBB profile records a business start date of May 28, 2021 and a Texas incorporation date of January 26, 2023. Those two figures do not line up, so ask the company whether the 25 year figure refers to the business itself or to the owner's time in the trade.
Which manufacturer certifications are verified?
Owens Corning's own contractor directory carries a profile for Cen-Tex Roofing at the Preferred Contractor level, which is verified on the manufacturer's side. The company also presents itself as a GAF shingle installer and names specific GAF Timberline and Camelot II product lines. That GAF relationship is stated by the company and we did not find a matching tier on GAF's own contractor directory.
Does the company handle hail and wind insurance claims?
Yes, insurance claim roof replacements for wind or hail are one of the services it advertises, alongside free inspections and storm damage assessments. Bexar County sits on the southern edge of Texas hail country and takes damaging hail most springs, so this is common work in San Antonio.
Should I put Class 4 impact resistant shingles on a San Antonio roof?
It is usually worth pricing. Class 4 shingles pass the UL 2218 steel ball impact test and resist hail bruising far better than standard three tab or standard architectural shingles. Many Texas insurers give a premium discount for a documented impact resistant roof. Call your own carrier first and ask what the discount would be on your policy, then compare that against the upgrade cost.
Do I need a permit to reroof a house in San Antonio?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting and inspection are handled city by city and county by county. Check the current rule with the City of San Antonio Development Services Department for your address. A legitimate contractor pulls the permit in its own name and does not ask the homeowner to do it.
Does Cen-Tex use its own crews or subcontractors?
The company's website states that all work is completed in house rather than subcontracted. That matters for workers compensation coverage, so ask for a certificate of insurance that names the crew who will actually be on your roof, and ask the insurer to send it to you directly.
What should I check before signing a storm damage contract?
Never sign anything that assigns your insurance benefits or locks you in before the claim is settled unless you fully understand it. Get a line item estimate you can compare to the adjuster's scope. Confirm the specific manufacturer warranty being registered and the length of the workmanship warranty in writing. Ask for a certificate of insurance direct from the insurer. And do not pay in full before the work is done.
