Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

These guys were contracted by my home management company. They were scheduled to show up anywhere from between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. today they were a no-call no-show when we contacted our rental company to tell them that they were a no-call no-show All the sudden they tried to show up 9 hours later than they were supposed to then they hung up on us over the phone more than one time and proceeded to tell us we did not need to be home to show up here when we have small dogs do not recommend using this company at all. Very unprofessional company

These folks are contracted thru my apartment complex. They have patched a leak on the roof over my apartment that is under warranty. They have patched it 4 times in two years and the roof still leaks. It leaks to the point that my cieling came in and I needed buckets to catch the water. As a tenant they have put me in a bind because they will not sufficiently fix this job. Obviously they are doing it cheap cause of the warranty and not actually repairing the roof. I am litetally paying another roofer out of my pocket this time to come out and see if the treatment they suggest (5th time is the charm?) is a good option. I need someone else to look at the roof bedside I think they are completely full of it. I need to be able to defend my position if I break my lease and get taken to court. I think their quality of work is poor because they expect the tenants to simply be upset at the apartment complex and they feel will face no recourse or will not get called out on their poor workmanship. Well sorry Affirmax this review at least caught up with you. Very little help to me as I partially work out of my home and have lost money due to the inconvienve of my cieling caving in and leaking water everywhere. Shame on you for being so fraudulent. Shame on you for taking advantage of lower income tenants that you obviously have no respect for. I would not recommend this company to any commercial business that has value in their ethics.

Frequently asked

Does Texas license roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no statewide roofing license. Trust signals to look for instead include active general liability and workers' compensation insurance, RCAT status, and manufacturer certifications.
What does RCAT Member status mean for Affirmax Roofing?
Affirmax Roofing is listed on the RCAT directory as a Member since 2022. Membership is a dues-paying status separate from RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor (CRRL) credential; the two should not be treated as equivalent.
Is El Paso affected by Texas windstorm insurance (WPI-8/TWIA) rules?
No. WPI-8 and TWIA windstorm requirements apply only to a defined list of Gulf Coast counties, and El Paso, in far West Texas, is not among them.
Does El Paso get hail damage?
Yes, West Texas including the El Paso area can experience significant hailstorms. Impact-resistant (Class 4) shingles can reduce storm damage risk and, on some policies, help lower insurance premiums.
Do I need a permit to reroof in El Paso?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled locally. Check with the City of El Paso building services department or ask your contractor to confirm permit requirements.
What manufacturer certifications does Affirmax Roofing hold?
The company states it is a certified applicator for GAF's Residential Roofing Products Division, Carlisle Syntec Systems, Polyglass Roofing and Waterproofing Systems, and Mule-Hide Products.
Does Affirmax Roofing handle commercial roofing?
Yes. The company describes serving commercial, multifamily, senior living and property management properties in addition to residential homeowners.
What should I ask before hiring a roofer with offices in multiple states?
Confirm that the crew working on your home is licensed to work in Texas, ask for local references in your specific city, and verify insurance coverage applies to the job location, not just the company's home state.
What roofing materials does Affirmax Roofing work with?
Based on its services, the company works with tile and asphalt shingle roofing, spray-applied polyurethane foam roofing, and silicone roof coatings, in addition to general repair and maintenance work.
How can I verify a roofer's insurance before signing a contract?
Ask for a certificate of insurance naming you as certificate holder and call the carrier directly to confirm it is active for work in Texas. This directory reports RCAT status but does not itself verify insurance.
