About

Banner Roofing & Construction is a veteran owned roofing contractor based at 1563 Laramie Lane in Frisco, serving Frisco, Prosper, Celina, McKinney, Plano and the wider North Texas area. The company was founded in February 2021 by Anthony Applegate, a US Army Green Beret, and its stated approach is to repair or maintain a roof first and replace only when replacement is genuinely warranted. Work covers roof repair, maintenance and replacement, storm damage repair, gutter installation and repair, commercial and flat roofing, siding and chimney repair, and a commercial asset management plan. The company works with GAF, Malarkey, CertainTeed and IKO products. It states more than 30 years of combined roofing experience on the team, OSHA 30 certified operational leadership, and an FAA licensed drone pilot used to inspect roofs that are unsafe to walk. Banner is a GAF Master Elite contractor, a designation GAF limits to a small share of roofers nationally, and is also listed as a GAF Certified commercial roofing contractor. It appears in the RCAT directory as a Member since 2022 with the CRRL credential under Anthony Applegate, holding Commercial and Residential Roofing License 03-0562. It is BBB Accredited with an A+ rating (accredited since August 2021), belongs to NRCA and NTRCA, and is HUB Certified and verified veteran owned by the Texas Veterans Commission.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0562 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

The quality of their work is excellent, and their attention to detail shows they take pride in what they do. What really stood out was how genuinely friendly and helpful everyone was. It’s rare to find a company that combines top-notch craftsmanship with such outstanding customer care. I highly recommend Banner Roofing & Construction and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again!

Banner roofing is absolutely amazing! Incredible customer service, responsiveness and attention. Mark was super great to deal with even though they were extremely busy after a hail storm. They are honest and know what they’re doing. I would hire them again and recommend them to others that are in need of any roofing or other needs.

Best customer service imaginable by Blaine. We had our roof redone in the aftermath of the Ice storm. They did an amazing job and bent over backwards to help with anything they could. It was nice to feel taken care of in the middle of the mess the storm made. Blaine was very professional and communicative in getting the job done.

Banner Roofing provided superb service for my roof replacement. During the initial consultation, Blaine showed me the damage my roof experienced and explained the claims process to me. He and Rudy stick with me throughout the various stages of the claim process. During the installation, Blaine kept me informed about the progress. The crew arrived on time and worked swiftly and effectively. Banner took care of all aspects of the entire process, which included roof, garage door, gutters, and re-staining my fence. They really made it painless for me. I am forever grateful.

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state roofing licence?
No. Texas has no state roofing licence and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation does not administer one for roofers. Insurance proof, RCAT credentials and verifiable manufacturer certifications are what a homeowner should actually check.
What does Banner's RCAT credential mean?
The RCAT directory lists Banner Roofing & Construction LLC as a Member since 2022 with the CRRL designation under Anthony Applegate, holding Commercial and Residential Roofing License 03-0562. CRRL is one of RCAT's earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credentials, not simply paid membership.
Is an RCAT Member the same as an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
No. Membership means the company pays association dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is separately earned through RCAT's own testing and requirements. Always ask which one a contractor holds and ask to see the licence number.
What is GAF Master Elite and why does it matter?
Master Elite is GAF's top contractor tier and requires meeting licensing, insurance and reputation criteria plus ongoing training. GAF limits it to a small share of roofers nationally, and it unlocks enhanced GAF manufacturer backed warranty options that standard installers cannot offer.
Why does hail dominate roofing in Frisco and Denton County?
North Texas sits in the heart of the corridor commonly called Hail Alley and takes frequent spring hail. Hail bruises the asphalt mat and strips protective granules, which shortens a roof's remaining life even when the roof is not visibly leaking.
What are Class 4 impact resistant shingles and are they worth it in Frisco?
Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 steel ball impact test. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, which can meaningfully offset the higher upfront cost in a high hail area. Confirm the discount with your own carrier first, as it varies.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Frisco?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting and inspection rules are set city by city. Check with the City of Frisco building inspections department, and expect a reputable contractor to pull any required permit rather than leaving it to you.
Does WPI 8 windstorm certification apply in Denton County?
No. WPI 8 is the Texas Department of Insurance windstorm certificate required for TWIA coverage in the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties. Denton County is far inland and is outside that programme. HVHZ is a Florida term and has no application in Texas.
What should I verify before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance, get the full scope in writing with the shingle brand and product line named, confirm who pulls the permit, and get warranty terms in writing. Never pay the full amount up front.
How does a hail insurance claim usually work in North Texas?
You file with your carrier, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues a scope and payment based on replacement cost less your deductible and any recoverable depreciation held back until the work is complete. You are legally responsible for your deductible in Texas, and a contractor offering to waive or absorb it is a serious red flag.
