About
Texas Traditions Roofing operates from 508 Cedar Drive in Georgetown and covers the northern Austin metro. BBB records the business as started 19 August 2014, and the RCAT directory lists it as a member since 2014 holding a Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (Commercial & Residential Roofing License #03-0642) in the name of Bryan Chisholm. Michael Pickel is listed as president and Bryan Chisholm as chief operating officer, following an ownership handover reported in the local Williamson County press in 2024. The company describes itself as a family owned business built on quality, customer satisfaction and community involvement. The published service list is residential and commercial roof replacement, repair and maintenance, plus new construction roofing and GAF Timberline Solar shingle installation. Jobs start with a free inspection and the site names roof leaks, hail and wind storm damage and tree damage as typical reasons homeowners call. Named service areas run across Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Bee Cave, Austin, Lakeway, Pflugerville and Temple. The company's credentials page lists GAF Master Elite and Master Select status, the GAF President's Club award for 2019 through 2022, Carlisle Certified Applicator training, GAF Energy Timberline Solar installer certification, and awarded vendor status with the TIPS and TexBuy purchasing cooperatives. GAF's own contractor locator independently confirms the Master Elite listing. Williamson County sits in Central Texas hail country, so impact-resistant shingle options and insurance claim handling are the usual centre of gravity for a roof here rather than coastal windstorm rules.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.
Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0642 or the company name.
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I'm writing this review as fairly as possible. In fact, I debated whether to write it at all. I previously used Texas Traditions Roofing in 2019 when Wes was my point of contact, and the experience was phenomenal. Because of that positive experience, I hired them again for a DaVinci Roofscapes roof on my small 1,600-square-foot home. Unfortunately, this experience was very different. My primary point of contact was Cole. Initially, he was excellent. He seemed organized, reassuring, and confident that everything would be ordered correctly and that the project would run smoothly. I was excited to finally replace my aging roof, which was in very poor condition. I was originally told the project would take about three days. To be safe, I gave them a 13-day window. Even accounting for one rain day and two holidays, there were still 10 working days available to complete a relatively small roofing project. One of the biggest issues was project management and quality control. From what I understand, Texas Traditions Roofing uses subcontractors rather than in-house roofing crews. As a result, the quality can vary significantly. Some of the subcontractors were outstanding. The gutter crew (Ant gutter), for example, did an excellent job. Others, however, left a lot to be desired. Several issues had to be identified and documented by me rather than caught by the company. I found myself taking videos, following up repeatedly, and pointing out problems that should have been noticed during routine supervision. As the customer, I should not have had to manage quality control on the project. The largest frustration involved ordering materials. DaVinci roofs have optional specialty ridge caps that create a much more finished appearance. I specifically discussed these with Cole and was assured they had been ordered. When work began, they were not on site. They then had to be ordered, and when they finally arrived, there were not enough to complete the project. This resulted in additional delays and another trip back to the property. In total, I had to return to town four separate times because of ordering issues, contractor mistakes, and incomplete work. For context, this is a second home, so every trip required significant time and expense. The company did provide a $50 Tractor Supply gift card as a gesture for the inconvenience, which I appreciated, but it did not come close to offsetting the disruption caused by multiple return visits. To the company's credit, the owners and office staff were apologetic and ultimately made sure the project was completed. I appreciate that they did not walk away from the job and continued working until it was finished. That said, there were still details that should have been handled better. During the tear-off process, openings should have been covered to prevent debris from falling into the attic space. The drip edge installation could have been much cleaner and more uniform, as several seams appear irregular and inconsistent. Greater attention to detail throughout the project would have made a significant difference. The positive takeaway is that the completed roof appears to be performing well. The roofing system included an insulating layer between the decking and roofing material, and since installation my energy bills have dropped noticeably. That has been a welcome benefit. Overall, I cannot say this was a terrible experience, but it was certainly not the experience I had with Texas Traditions Roofing in the past. The company has some excellent people and some excellent subcontractors, but they need stronger project oversight, better material ordering procedures, and tighter quality control. Would I recommend them? Possibly—but only with the advice that homeowners stay actively involved, monitor the project closely, verify that all materials have been ordered before work begins, and insist on regular oversight of subcontractors. Had those things occurred on my project, many of the issues I experienced could have been avoided.
Fantastic Customer Service.....Professional and Courteous. Needed a quick roof replacement prior to selling/closing our home and Texas Traditions Roofing pulled in our work order to get it completed...and did it at the best cost. Thank you Cole....Very Impressed!
Texas Traditions Roofing made the entire process incredibly smooth from start to finish. They were able to schedule an inspection promptly, which I really appreciated. Their replacement cost was by far the most affordable compared to other roofing companies I contacted, without sacrificing quality. The crew was professional, efficient, and completed the entire job in just one day. The workmanship and overall service were excellent. I highly recommend Texas Traditions Roofing for anyone looking for a reliable and cost‑effective roofing company.
Texas Traditions Roofing deserves more than five stars! Thank you for your excellent and professional service. We had several roofing company reps stop by, and Cole Dunaway from Texas Traditions Roofing was different. He is absolutely fantastic! He was helpful, patient, and understanding. We never felt rushed to make a decision. He assessed our roof and managed to make the pricing reasonable (thank you, Cole). On project day, the workers arrived on time, the Superindent was there (and returned the next day to make sure the installation was good - thank you, Alex), the entire crew was professional, and our roof looks amazing! I would be remiss if I didn't mention, Sarah Morris; she's a gem of a person! (thank you, Sarah).
Three Comments: Roof - The repair went well. You have a good crew. Senior Discount: At the front end, I asked about a "senior discount". Your reply was you could probably arrange 2 - 3%. When I reminded the front office, you said the contract was signed, which it wasn't, and therefore, no. While my request might have been the first, it should come as no surprise given the area's senior population. While I have no complaint about the repair, I have reason to withhold my recommendation. Finally, leaving a comment is too involved reducing the amount of replies you will receive.
