About
Reindeer Roofing is a Williamson County roofing contractor working the Georgetown and Hutto area north of Austin. The business began operating in November 2022 and is led by owner Bruce Velez, with a small named team that includes Westley, Brian and Michael. It became a BBB Accredited Business in October 2025 and holds an A+ rating. The company also trades under the Reindeer Roofs name, which is how it appears in the GAF residential contractor locator.
The company handles residential and commercial work: roof installation, replacement and repair, roof inspections, shingle roofing and metal roofing, plus low slope systems including built up roofing, modified bitumen and TPO. It also does gutters, siding and storm damage repair. Free no obligation estimates are offered and the phone line is answered 24 hours.
Customer accounts describe the crew documenting out of code roof decking, providing the paperwork to the insurance adjuster to get the replacement decking covered, and installing it the same day, along with tarping to protect the property during tear off. Reindeer Roofing holds the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which is separately earned and is a step beyond plain RCAT membership.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration
Required in Georgetown Permit office ↗Contractor Registration (Development Services). Registration is required here to pull a roofing permit; we have not confirmed this company's own status, so check it before you sign.
Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0707 or the company name.
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Bruce not only did an excellent job on the replacement of our roof, but the design he suggested for the siding, paint and roof transformed our house. He worked with us on every aspect and I could not be more pleased. I recommend Bruce and his crew wholeheartedly!

Frequently asked
What does RCAT Licensed mean, and how is it different from RCAT Member?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Plain membership means a company pays association dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is separately earned through experience requirements and testing, and it is the higher bar of the two. Reindeer Roofing holds the Licensed Roofing Contractor credential. Note that this is an association credential, not a government licence.
Does Texas issue a state roofing licence?
No. Texas has no state roofing contractor licence at all. That is exactly why the voluntary RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential carries weight here, and why you should still confirm current general liability and workers compensation insurance and check whether your city requires the contractor to be registered.
How much hail does the Georgetown and Hutto area get?
Central Texas sits at the southern end of Hail Alley and Williamson County takes damaging hail and severe thunderstorm wind most springs. Hail bruising is often invisible from the ground, so a professional inspection after a storm is worth doing before the claim window closes. Reindeer Roofing offers free no obligation estimates and inspections.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles a good idea here?
Usually worth pricing. Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 impact test and holds up to hail better than standard architectural shingles. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, which can offset part of the upgrade cost over time. Ask your carrier for its specific discount before deciding, because the amount varies by insurer.
What happens if my roof decking is found to be out of code during tear off?
It is common on older Central Texas homes and it is normally a change to the job. A good contractor photographs and documents the condition, supplies that documentation to your insurance adjuster so the replacement decking can be added to the claim, and prices any uncovered portion in writing before installing. Reviews of this company describe exactly that process being followed.
Can a roofer pay or waive my insurance deductible?
No. Texas law makes it illegal for a contractor to pay, rebate, waive or absorb your insurance deductible, and illegal to advertise the offer. Any company that offers to make your deductible disappear is signalling how it treats the rules in general. Plan to pay the deductible yourself.
Can my roofer negotiate the insurance claim on my behalf?
Not as an adjuster. Texas law prohibits a roofing contractor from acting as a public insurance adjuster on a property it is contracted to repair. The contractor can inspect, document damage, meet the carrier's adjuster on site and explain scope. Anyone negotiating the claim for you must be a separately licensed public adjuster.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Georgetown or Hutto?
Texas has no single statewide building code applied identically everywhere, so permitting and inspection are set locally. Georgetown, Hutto, Round Rock, Taylor and unincorporated Williamson County each have their own roofing permit rules and some require contractor registration. Get it in writing that the contractor pulls the permit, that the cost is included, and that the final inspection is passed.
Does this company do flat and commercial roofs as well as shingles?
Yes. Alongside shingle and metal roofing for homes, it lists built up roofing, modified bitumen and TPO, which are the low slope systems typically used on commercial buildings and flat residential sections. The BBB also files it under commercial roofing, flat roofing, gutter contractors and siding contractors as well as residential roofing.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly by the insurer, a written scope naming the shingle or panel line and colour, who pulls the permit, the workmanship warranty length and whether it transfers, whether the manufacturer warranty will be registered, and a payment schedule that does not demand the full amount up front. After a storm, be cautious with high pressure door to door sales and read the cancellation terms.
