Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration No government registration in The WoodlandsThe Woodlands is a township, not a city, and Montgomery County does not enforce building codes on single family homes. Deed restrictions still apply, so check with The Woodlands Township before work starts. No city or county body registers roofers or inspects this work here, so a contractor's insurance and RCAT standing carry more weight than usual. Ask to see both.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

This is one of the best companies I have ever used! AJ White is such an asset to this company! He is knowledgeable, professional, hard-working, and just a great personality to work with. I felt very comfortable through the whole process, and he explained everything very well. AJ worked tirelessly to help get my insurance approval which took months to achieve. He was there for the insurance assessment, and I know that made a huge difference. He helped me submit all the necessary paperwork, and we were successful getting the approval! Once approved, the guys came out and worked really hard to complete the job in one day! They also cleaned up the grounds and everything was spotless! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't drive by my house and admire my beautiful new roof 😍 Thank you AJ and Ark Roofing!!! You guys are amazing and a cut above the rest!!!

I installed roofs for 10 years in my younger days, so I’m able to tell if quality materials and services are being offered. After several bids and conversations with local contractors, Ark was the clear choice for my total roof replacement. The owner was very nice and informative, offered high quality products and services, was able to get me scheduled quickly. The crew did a great job and were able to finish the entire roof (43 sq) in one day. They treated my home as if it were their own, and the roof looks fantastic. Highly recommend using these guys. You will not be disappointed.

We had a great experience with Innpreccon Roofing. The team was very efficient, completed the job quickly, and did an excellent job cleaning up afterward. Our new roof looks great and pricing was fair. The entire process was smooth and professional. Highly recommend!

Ark Roofing and Restoration replaced our roof in December 2025, and the entire experience was outstanding. They were flexible, competitively priced, and consistently honest throughout the project. Andrew, the owner, was exceptionally patient and clearly explained the differences between various manufacturers as well as the advantages of Class 3 versus Class 4 shingles. I would gladly work with them again and confidently recommend them to others.

Will Scott did an amazing job on our roof. He was professional, on time, honest and respectful of our home. His crew worked fast, did great work and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend if you are looking to look no further!!!! Call and ask for Will Scott!!! You won’t regret it!

Frequently asked

Is Ark Roofing & Restoration licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a statewide roofing license, so there is no state license to check. Ark Roofing & Restoration's relevant credential is its Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT) Membership, along with insurance verification and any local Montgomery County registration.
What does RCAT Membership mean, and is it the same as being RCAT Licensed?
RCAT Membership means a company pays dues to belong to the association. It is different from the separately earned RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor (CRRL) credential. Ark Roofing & Restoration's listed status is Member, and homeowners should ask any contractor which of the two designations applies to them.
Is hail damage a common problem for roofs in The Woodlands area?
Yes, Montgomery County and the greater Houston area regularly experience hailstorms that can damage shingle roofs. Homeowners should have a roof inspected after a hailstorm even if damage isn't obvious from the ground.
Should I consider Class 4 impact-resistant shingles for a Woodlands home?
Class 4 shingles are designed to resist hail impact better than standard shingles, and some Texas insurers offer a premium discount for installing them, so it's worth discussing with any roofer.
Does The Woodlands or Montgomery County require a roofing permit?
Permitting is handled locally, not by the state, so requirements can vary between The Woodlands Township, Montgomery County, and neighboring cities like Conroe or Tomball. Homeowners should confirm requirements with their local building authority before work begins.
How can I verify a roofing contractor's insurance before hiring them?
Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers' compensation coverage and confirm it directly with the insurance carrier rather than relying on a printed document alone.
What does it mean for a company to be GAF Certified?
GAF Certified is an entry-level manufacturer credential showing a contractor has met GAF's basic training and business requirements. It is a lower tier than GAF Master Elite, so homeowners should ask which specific GAF status a contractor holds.
What should a roof replacement contract include?
It should include the scope of work, the specific materials and manufacturer, total price and payment schedule, project timeline, and both the manufacturer's material warranty and the contractor's workmanship warranty in writing.
Will homeowners insurance cover storm or hail damage to my roof?
Many Texas homeowners policies cover wind and hail damage, but deductibles and claims requirements vary. An independent roof inspection before accepting an insurance adjuster's estimate can help confirm the full scope of damage.
What should I ask before hiring a roofer for storm damage restoration?
Ask about RCAT status, insurance coverage, manufacturer certifications, how they document damage for insurance claims, and get a written, itemized estimate before signing anything.
