About

SPS General Contracting Services, Inc. trades publicly as SPS Roofing, and that is the name it uses on its website header, its BBB record and its GAF contractor listing. The company works from 11871 Cleveland Gibbs Rd in Roanoke (Denton County) and runs a second office at 9901 Brodie Lane in Austin covering the Austin and San Antonio market. Despite the general contracting legal name, roofing is the core trade rather than one line among many. The whole site is organised around commercial roofing (industrial, military, education, healthcare, retail, multi-family, senior living and hospitality) and residential roofing, with exteriors and solar sitting behind those as secondary lines. The site carries the line "Roofing Done Right Since 1991" and describes a third generation, family owned business. On the credential side, GAF's own commercial contractor directory lists SPS Roofing at the Roanoke address as a GAF GoldElite Commercial Contractor and a GAF CoatingsPro liquid applied roofing contractor, which is what allows the company to offer GAF's Diamond Pledge NDL guarantee on qualifying systems. The BBB profile shows an A+ rating with accreditation since 17 February 2025. The company additionally states Atlas Roofing, TAMKO, GAF EverGuard TPO, Quality Metals, HCI-R and Compliance Depot credentials plus North Texas Roofing Contractors Association membership. Those are stated by the company and were not confirmed at each manufacturer's own directory. Roanoke sits in inland North Texas, so hail and wind driven rain, not coastal exposure, are the recurring roof problems. The company's own site claims more than 60 million square feet installed in the past decade and work in 12 states, and a Fort Worth area lifestyle feature describes a roughly even split between residential and commercial work along with hail damage assessment and storm claim handling. Two live domains carry the same content, spsroof.com and spsgeneralcontracting.com.

Highlights

Roofing is the core trade, not a sideline of a general contracting shop. Commercial and residential roofing are the two top level sections of the company's own site.
GAF GoldElite commercial status is confirmed on GAF's own directory at the Roanoke address, which is the level that permits the GAF Diamond Pledge NDL guarantee on qualifying systems.
Covers both flat and steep slope work, including single-ply, asphaltic and liquid-applied coating systems, which suits multi-family and institutional buildings as well as houses.
Two Texas offices, Roanoke for Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin for the Austin and San Antonio market.
Company states operation since 1991 across three generations of the same family.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0251 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Living in North Texas for 20 years now I have had occasion to replace my roof three times not. Our experience with SPS was far and away superior to my previous ones. The job took 4 days but was cleaned meticulously each night before the crew left. The work was first rate, the estimate spot-on and all coordination required with my insurance company was smooth and uneventful. I will use them again and happily refer them

I had a new roof done by SPS Roofing in 2011 and they did an excellent job. In 2016 I called SPS for some minor repair to the roof done in 2011. They made this repair at no charge to me. After the 2017 hailstorm the roof needed to be replaced again. Because of my previous positive experience, I ask them to bid on the project. There prices were competitive so they were awarded the job. Again the work was done on time and as agreed. They also included several additional upgrades at for the original price. There are many roofing companies but I would strongly recommend SPS. They stand behind their work.

They're a family owned business who have been in operation for over 21 years!! The staff was incredibly friendly and VERY professional. They're fully insured and A+++ members of the BBB and several other Roofing organizations. You absolutely cannot go wrong with their services. They'll come out and provide an honest assessment with low pressure follow up. Highly recommended capabilities that include commercial and residential services!

Despite being on the Do Not Call list, this company called me with an unrequested solicitation call. When I asked to be taken off their list, they caller hung up on me. Completely unprofessional and predatory practices. They are also not listed with the Better Business Bureau, so beware of your lack of recourse if things do not go well with them.

My experience with SPS Roofing was nothing short of exceptional. In an era where Customer Service appears to have fallen by the wayside, Josh and Colby have proven that is not the case with SPS Roofing. Any question or concern I had was addressed promptly. I HIGHLY recommend SPS Roofing.

Frequently asked

Is SPS Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no roofer in Texas can be state licensed for roofing. What matters instead is current general liability and workers compensation insurance, any city or county registration that applies, and voluntary credentials. SPS holds the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which is earned separately from ordinary RCAT membership.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
An RCAT Member is a company that pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately by an individual through RCAT's own testing and requirements. The two are not equivalent, and many members do not hold the licence. SPS is listed with the Licensed Roofing Contractor credential.
Which of SPS Roofing's manufacturer certifications can I verify myself?
GAF's own contractor directory lists SPS Roofing in Roanoke as a GoldElite Commercial Contractor and a CoatingsPro liquid applied contractor. That is checkable on gaf.com. The Atlas, TAMKO, EverGuard TPO, Quality Metals, HCI-R and Compliance Depot credentials are stated by the company on its website and were not confirmed at each manufacturer's own directory.
Does SPS Roofing do houses, or only commercial buildings?
Both. The site has separate residential and commercial sections, and a local lifestyle feature on the company describes work splitting roughly evenly between the two. The commercial side covers industrial, military, education, healthcare, retail, multi-family, senior living and hospitality properties.
What should a Denton County homeowner know about hail before replacing a roof?
North Texas sits in the part of the state that takes the most damaging hail, and Denton County is squarely in it. Class 4 impact resistant shingles, tested to UL 2218, resist hail bruising better than standard shingles, and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them. Ask your carrier what discount applies before you choose a shingle, because the discount can offset a large part of the upgrade cost.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Roanoke or elsewhere in Denton County?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement for residential reroofing, so permitting and inspection rules are set city by city and county by county. Roanoke and the surrounding Denton County municipalities each set their own requirements. Ask the contractor in writing who pulls the permit and who schedules any required inspection, and confirm the answer with the city yourself.
What should I ask any Texas roofer before signing?
Ask for a current certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer or agent rather than a photocopy, ask which crew is doing the work and whether it is in house or subcontracted, ask for the manufacturer's written warranty terms plus the contractor's own workmanship warranty in writing, and ask who handles the permit. Get the full scope, including decking replacement pricing, on paper before work starts.
Does SPS Roofing work outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
Yes. The company runs an Austin office serving the Austin and San Antonio market, and its site states commercial work across 12 states with more than 60 million square feet installed in the past decade. Confirm current coverage for your specific address when you call.
What roofing systems does the company install?
GAF's commercial listing shows asphaltic systems, coatings and liquid applied systems, and single ply membrane. The company's own site describes both flat and steep slope applications with several manufacturers, and lists metal roofing among its capabilities.
Is a roof coating a substitute for a new roof?
Not always. A liquid applied coating can extend the life of a sound low slope roof and cut heat gain, but it will not fix saturated insulation, failed decking or widespread seam failure. A proper moisture survey or core sample should come before any decision to coat rather than replace. Ask which one the contractor is recommending and why.
