About

Roofing Linares is a family owned roofing and exterior contractor working out of north Houston at 12941 North Freeway, Suite 700C. The company was founded by Antonio Linares and is now led by Set Linares, and it handles residential and commercial roofs alongside siding, gutters and painting. BBB records list Seth Linares as owner and show the business starting on 24 August 2023. Texas does not issue a statewide roofing licence, so the checks that matter for a Houston homeowner are current insurance, third party accreditation and trade credentials. Roofing Linares has been a BBB Accredited Business since March 2024 and carries an A+ BBB rating. Its RCAT status on this directory is the Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which is earned separately from plain RCAT membership. Insurance claim work is a large part of what the company does, which fits a Harris County market where wind, hail and storm damage drive most roof replacements. The company lists work well beyond Houston, naming Austin, San Antonio, Killeen, Temple, Belton, Copperas Cove, Humble, Katy, Galveston and Corpus Christi among its service areas.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0703 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Roofing Linares ran out of material replacing my roof and it took months to get them to repair it. Seth and Mario ignored my calls while areas of my house were exposed to the elements. They left trash on my property for months, and at the end they botched the siding. It wasn't until the end of the fiscal year that they realized I had not paid them in full for their job, they then tried to get the insurance company to release payment claiming they had finished the job but luckily I had to be the one to acknowledge the work. In the end it took months to get them to finish the job, pick up their trash, and leave an eye sore on my siding. Stay away.

From the very beginning Nick and Mario and their installers we experienced world class customer service. After inspection of the roof we were very impressed with the work they did. They left our yard spotless after the job was completed. I would highly recommend this company to family and friends.

They did a good job replacing my roof. However the storm damage they were repairing on my brick veneer siding was very low quality. Mismatched brick, quickcrete mortor not grouted into the brick but done flush with the brick, and a 2 inch gap between the interior wall and the veneer leaving it unanchored. Would recommend them for your roof needs and only roof needs anything else is poor quality work. The project manager never contacted me about the pricing dispute I brought up everytime the billing department called. I did get a discount on the repair price but the price to have it done by a licensed masonry specialist would have been drastically different.

One of the things I look in a referral partner is their responsiveness, professionalism, and punctuality. And this team does all that! I strongly believe who you recommend is an extension of yourself & I really appreciate them taking care of my clients!

I had a very disappointing experience with Double Down Roofing. A salesperson came to my home after working on a neighbor’s roof and told me he noticed issues with mine. He assured me that, similar to my neighbor, everything could be taken care of with little out-of-pocket cost. Based on that representation, I agreed to move forward and went through the full insurance claim process. After the claim was underway, the owner of the company came out to review the numbers and contract. At that point, I was quoted thousands of dollars more than what I had originally been told. This felt misleading and dishonest, as I would not have agreed to start the claim had I known the true cost upfront. The owner told me she would review the numbers and get back to me to see what she could do. I never heard from her again. Later, the salesperson contacted me, apologized, and said he was embarrassed by what happened and that it was not supposed to go that way. Because of this situation, I was left with an active insurance claim and had to scramble to find another roofing company. Thankfully, I did—and they are completing my roof for the price that was originally promised to me at the start. Overall, the experience felt very much like being at a car dealership where someone is trying to pull one over on you. I felt misled, taken advantage of, and ultimately ignored. This company was extremely unprofessional, and I highly do not recommend Double Down Roofing to anyone looking for a new roof.

Frequently asked

Is Roofing Linares licensed to roof in Texas?
Texas has no statewide roofing licence, so no roofer in Houston can be state licensed for roofing. What you can check is real: Roofing Linares is listed on this directory with the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, and it is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating. Ask for a current certificate of insurance before any work starts.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas has two separate things. Membership means a company pays dues and belongs to the association. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and requirements. Roofing Linares is listed with the Licensed credential, which is the higher of the two.
Where does Roofing Linares work?
The company is based in north Houston in Harris County and lists Houston, Humble, Katy and Galveston plus a long Central Texas run that includes Austin, San Antonio, Temple, Belton, Killeen and Copperas Cove, and Corpus Christi on the coast. Confirm coverage for your exact address when you call.
Does the company help with insurance claims?
Yes. Insurance claim work is described on the company's own site and on its BBB profile, covering roof, gutter and siding replacement. A contractor can document damage and meet the adjuster, but only your insurer decides the claim. In Texas it is illegal for a roofer to act as a public adjuster on a job it is also bidding.
How do I verify a Houston roofer's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and, if the company has employees, workers compensation. Texas does not require workers compensation, so confirm it rather than assume it. Call the insurance agent listed on the certificate and confirm the policy is active for the dates of your job.
Are impact resistant Class 4 shingles worth it around Houston?
Hail reaches the Houston area less often than it does the North and Central Texas hail belt, but it does happen, and many Texas insurers give a premium discount for a UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistant roof. Ask your carrier what the discount is worth before you pay the upgrade, then ask the roofer to quote the Class 4 option alongside the standard shingle.
Who pulls the permit for a roof replacement in Houston?
Texas has no statewide building code for residential roofing, so permitting is set city by city. In the City of Houston a residential reroof generally requires a permit, and in unincorporated Harris County the rules differ. The roofing contractor normally pulls it. Get the answer in writing before the tear off.
Does Roofing Linares do work other than roofing?
Yes. The company's own site and its BBB categories cover siding, gutters, painting and general contracting as well as roofing. That can be useful after a storm when the same event damages the roof, the gutters and the siding.
How long has the company been in business?
BBB records show the business starting on 24 August 2023 and the BBB file opening in March 2024. The Linares family describes earlier generations working in the trade, but 2023 is the date an independent source states for this company.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for the full scope in writing, the shingle brand and line, the underlayment and ventilation details, the manufacturer warranty versus the workmanship warranty and its length, proof of insurance, who pulls the permit, and how change orders are handled. Do not pay a large deposit up front, and never sign anything that lets the contractor keep your insurance proceeds if you cancel.
