About

F.W. Walton, Inc., which operates publicly as Walton Roofing (waltonroofing.com), is one of Houston's oldest roofing firms. It was founded in 1961 by F.W. Walton in Texas City, and Patrick Walton, president since 1990, has kept it family-owned for over six decades. Unlike most companies in this directory, Walton is primarily a commercial and industrial roofing contractor, headquartered at 8350 Mosley Rd in Houston with additional Texas offices serving Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio, plus Florida locations. Its service lines cover commercial and industrial roofing, 24/7 emergency repair, inspections and maintenance, roof coatings and restoration, sheet metal, waterproofing, and insulation, working across metal, tile, shingle, flat, spray polyurethane foam, and coating systems. The company markets itself heavily to churches and multifamily properties, and residential work is handled through its Walton Residential Services division. The company states memberships in the National Roofing Contractors Association and the Air Barrier Association of America and reports an EMR safety rating of 0.71 (stated by the company). It is also listed in the AGC Houston member directory. A BBB file exists but the company is not BBB accredited and BBB shows no rating.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Dimitri was awesome! He walked me through the entire process and did exactly what he said he would...no surprises at all. The price was great, and the service was even better. I would definitely recommend Walton Roofing!

Darrell Everett was our first contact with Walton Residential Services. He was very professional, patient and knowledgeable. He was very responsive to all calls and texts. He has excellent customer service skills. He was very instrumental in our decision to choose this company. The company did an excellent job with the roof. We will definitely refer this company to family and friends.

Walton replaced my roof today and I couldn’t be more happy with the job. From the rep that came out to speak with me to the supervisor that was on site during the job the team was professional. I would recommend that company. They explained the process from start to finish. If you need a repair or a new roof give them a call.

When I started looking for a roofing contractor I was prepared for the worst. Instead I had a very good experience with Walton from start to finish. My main interaction was with Gabe. He was knowledgeable and personable. He made everything happen just as he said it would. The installation was remarkably smooth and well organized. Neighbors with whom I spoke after the installation remarked about how efficient the process was. Not only was the installation excellent, but the clean-up was great as well. I would have no reservations or qualms about recommending Walton. I would use them again. They are good. This is a real review and not something I was paid to write.

Guys came by doing door to door sales. I found out they did work I needed. The next day several pros showed up to discuss the work I needed and answer all of my questions. I got a good quote and scheduled the work. They showed up and worked hard all day and got it done and cleaned up like it never happened. Martin was great to plan with. Good comms all the way through. Fair price for lots of good work. Would hire again!

Does Walton Roofing work on houses or only commercial buildings?
The core business is commercial and industrial roofing, including churches, warehouses, and multifamily properties. Residential work is handled through a separate division, Walton Residential Services, so homeowners can be served but should expect a commercially oriented operation.
Is Walton Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license for any contractor. Walton Roofing is an RCAT Member, meaning it belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Note that plain membership is different from RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which requires an examination; this company is listed as a Member.
How long has the company been in business?
Since 1961, when F.W. Walton founded the company in Texas City. It has remained family-owned for over six decades, with Patrick Walton serving as president since 1990.
What roof systems does Walton Roofing install?

What should a building owner verify before hiring a commercial roofer in Texas?
Ask for a certificate of general liability insurance sent directly from the insurer, proof of workers compensation coverage, the crew's safety record (EMR), manufacturer approvals for the specific membrane being installed, and references from comparable projects. Since Texas has no state roofing license, insurance and track record carry the weight.
Is Walton Roofing BBB accredited?
No. A BBB file has existed since 2000 for F.W. Walton Roofing, Inc., but the company is not BBB accredited and BBB shows no rating. That is common for commercial-focused contractors and is not by itself a red flag.
Do commercial reroofing projects in Houston require permits?
Permitting is set city by city in Texas. Commercial roofing work in Houston generally requires a permit and inspections, and requirements differ in surrounding municipalities. A commercial contractor typically manages permitting; confirm responsibility in the contract.
Does hail insurance apply to commercial roofs in Texas?
Yes. Hail is the dominant roofing peril across much of Texas, and commercial property policies typically cover wind and hail subject to deductibles that are often a percentage of building value. Regular documented inspections and maintenance, which this company offers, help support claims and keep manufacturer warranties valid.
