About

Priority Roofing is a residential and commercial roofing contractor founded in Dallas in 2016 by Will Miller, operating across Texas and a number of other states. The Lindale registration is its East Texas branch, which trades locally as Priority Roofing of Tyler and Priority Roofing of East Texas. The office sits at 15424 FM 849, Suite A, in Lindale, Smith County, on the corridor between Lindale and Tyler, and serves Tyler and the surrounding East Texas communities including Swan, Longview, Overton, Whitehouse, Chandler, Lindale, Elberta and Mineola. The branch is a working office rather than a mailing address. It has its own local phone line on the 903 area code, its own branch email, its own staff (General Manager James Culverhouse, Operations Manager Travis Stephens and Administrative Manager Bethany Keeney), its own Better Business Bureau profile filed under the Lindale address, and its own Facebook, Yelp and Nextdoor presence. Work covers residential and commercial roof inspection, repair and replacement, storm damage and insurance claim work, and designer roofing systems beyond standard asphalt shingles, including metal, tile and slate options. The branch also works with architects and builders on new construction across East Texas. The company as a whole is BBB accredited, holding an A plus rating with accreditation dating from March 2021, and lists GAF, NRCA, UASRC and OSHA credentials. This Lindale registration is RCAT member id 1657 with Member status. Texas has no state roofing licence, so verify general liability and workers compensation coverage directly with the insurer before signing.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We had an outstanding experience with Priority Roofing out of Tyler, TX, and I can’t recommend them enough. From start to finish, the process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. Our sales and inspection representative, Kel Cates, truly went above and beyond. He was incredibly knowledgeable, honest, and thorough in explaining every step of the process. Kel took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure we felt confident and informed the entire way through. His attention to detail during the inspection was impressive, and he genuinely cared about getting us the best outcome possible. It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated to both their work and their customers. The entire team at Priority Roofing delivered high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service. If you’re looking for a roofing company you can trust, this is it—ask for Kel Cates, you won’t be disappointed! My mother, grandmother and I truly appreciate Kel.

The outside of my house was needing quite a bit of work. The roof had storm damage and was very worn, the gutters needed replacing or removal and the faca boards and soffits were rotted in several areas. Colton Fenwick and James Culverhouse stopped by my house to talk with me about the services they offer to help me get the house repaired and back to the condition I wanted it to be in. They looked the house over and came up with a repair plan to fix all the issues we identified. Colton and James worked closely with my insurance company and their adjuster to verify the damages caused by storms and complete the claims process. Colton called and came by the house often to keep me posted on the pre work being done before the roof replacement got started. He was awesome in getting the pre work organized and keeping me informed on the roof replacement schedule. All pre work was done on time and in an orderly manner. Justin Greene’s crew came out and did a fantastic job tearing off the old roof, repairing the deck, replacing the vent stacks and installing the shingles. The new roof looks awesome. I cannot recommend these guys enough. The process was stress free from start to finish and the results are excellent!! I highly recommend this company and it’s people.

"I cannot recommend Travis Stephens and Priority Roofing highly enough. Travis is hands-down the most genuine, dedicated professional I have ever encountered. When a previous contractor left me in a tight spot with my roof, Travis literally got up in the middle of the night to come over and help me out. I later found out it was actually his and his wife’s wedding anniversary—that is the unbelievable level of selflessness and dedication this man has for people. He has consistently been there for me, my friends, and my business in more ways than I can express. Travis isn't just trying to close a deal; he genuinely cares about helping people and earning their trust through flawless actions. He is the only contractor I will ever use for my roofing needs, no matter what. If you want a roofer with unmatched integrity, call Travis."

Frequently asked

Is the Lindale office a real branch or just a registration address?
It is a real branch. It has its own street address at 15424 FM 849 Suite A in Lindale, its own local 903 phone number, its own branch email, a named on-site management team, its own Better Business Bureau profile filed under the Lindale address, and its own local Facebook, Yelp and Nextdoor listings. It also has a dedicated branch page on the company website.
Why is it called Priority Roofing of Tyler when the office is in Lindale?
The office sits on FM 849 between Lindale and Tyler, and it markets to the Tyler metro because that is the population centre. The mailing address is Lindale 75771 in Smith County, while the company website lists the same street address with a Tyler 75706 line. Both point to the same physical location, and both Lindale and Tyler are in Smith County.
Is Priority Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no roofer in Texas holds one. The meaningful checks here are verified insurance, manufacturer certification, association standing, Better Business Bureau record, and whatever registration the specific city requires in order to pull a permit.
What does the RCAT Member status mean?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. This Lindale registration appears in the RCAT directory as a Member, which means dues-paying membership of the association. RCAT separately awards an earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which is a different and higher bar. Member status alone does not mean the company holds that credential.
How old is the company?
The business was founded in Dallas in 2016 by Will Miller. The Better Business Bureau records a start date of 5 July 2016 and accreditation from 16 March 2021, with an A plus rating. The Lindale office is one of several Texas branches operating under the same company.
Does East Texas get enough hail to worry about?
Yes. Smith County and the wider East Texas region take regular spring hail and severe thunderstorm activity, and hail is the single largest driver of roof claims in Texas. Damage is often not visible from the ground. Bruised shingles that have lost their granule protection can look intact for a season and then start leaking, which is why a documented post-storm inspection with photographs matters.
Are impact resistant shingles worth it in Smith County?
Often yes. Class 4 impact rated shingles are tested by dropping a steel ball onto the shingle to check it does not crack, and many Texas insurers offer a premium credit for installing them. Ask your own carrier what discount applies before choosing, because the credit varies widely and it is what determines whether the upgrade pays back.
How does a hail insurance claim usually work?
You report the loss to your carrier, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues an actual cash value payment first, holding back depreciation until the work is completed and invoiced. Know your windstorm and hail deductible, which in Texas is frequently a percentage of the dwelling value rather than a flat sum, and be aware that Texas law prohibits a contractor from paying, waiving or rebating your deductible. Any offer to do so is a red flag.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof around Tyler and Lindale?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so this is decided locally. The City of Tyler and the City of Lindale each set their own permitting and inspection requirements, and rules differ again in unincorporated Smith County. Confirm in writing that the contractor pulls the permit in its own name rather than asking you to pull it as the homeowner.
What should a homeowner check before signing with any East Texas roofer?
Get a certificate of insurance sent directly from the agent showing current general liability and Texas workers compensation, since Texas does not require most private employers to carry workers compensation. Get the full scope in writing: shingle line and colour, underlayment, decking replacement cost per sheet, flashing, ventilation, cleanup, permit responsibility and payment schedule. Avoid large up-front deposits, and check the local Better Business Bureau and Google records for the specific branch, not just the parent brand.
