About
Plains Roofing is a locally owned Lubbock roofing contractor. The company's own website states it has been "Locally Owned and Operated Since 1939" and claims more than 80 years of experience and over 40,000 completed projects. It works on both residential and commercial buildings across the Lubbock area from an office on 98th Street, with mail handled through a Lubbock PO Box. The work mix reflects West Texas conditions. The company advertises hail damage repair, roof maintenance and inspection visits that check for dips, soft spots, peeling surfaces, holes and damaged soffit and fascia, plus full replacements. On the residential side it names composition shingles, Timberline and Elk shingles, Class 4 impact resistant roofing, cedar shakes and shingles, metal, tile, built up tar and gravel roofs and skylights. Commercial work covers pitched and flat tar roofs, asphalt shingles, metal, gravel roofs and roof coatings. It also assists with roof inspections tied to real estate transactions. On credentials, Plains Roofing appears in GAF's own contractor directory as a GAF Master Elite contractor, GAF's top residential certification tier, which allows it to offer the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty on qualifying systems. It has been a BBB Accredited Business since March 1981 and holds an A+ BBB rating. It is also listed as a member of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. Texas has no state roofing licence, so credentials like these plus current insurance certificates are the practical way to check a roofer here.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.
Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0480 or the company name.
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Personnel went above and beyond expectations and very courteous. Made sure we were pleased with the work and made sure to clean up everywhere when finished. Plains Roofing has always been there for us and completed all work in a very professional manner. Would highly recommend Plains to everyone needing roof repairs Price paid was the amount NOT covered by insurance (didn’t know if we should have recorded total amount of cost for the replacement).
Highly recommend Plains Roofing to anyone in Lubbock who needs roof and window repairs! Their team members are so kind and easy to deal with and they have quick response times, which is always greatly appreciated when you’re in a bind! If you’re looking for a reliable, trustworthy, local roofer then give them a call.
Plains Roofing has been a go-to contractor for my clients for over three decades. They do things right and the right way; dependable and trustworthy. The created a good name for their company and continue to build its legacy today in Lubbock and all of West Texas. - Clay Enger, Coldwell Banker
I am very disappointed with the lack of communication regarding the roof replacement quote. My husband and I sent an email on March 24, 2026 at 2:39 pm and received no response. On March 25, 2026, I was told via text that someone would reach out regarding my property, and I provided the address, but there has been no contact since. I sent another reply five days later on March 30, 2026 to follow up again regarding my quote and still have not heard back. This is time-sensitive, and I would appreciate an update and a clear timeline for next steps. I have been waiting for over eight days just for a follow-up. Please contact me as soon as possible.
We recently used Plains Roofing Company for a leak that occurred in our office after the recent snow storm. Another company told us we needed a 300k new roof, and Travis came out to give us a second opinion within the day! Thank goodness we got one, because he said we only needed a simple patch job and had us taken care of within a few days! He saved us so much money (at the cost of his own) and was so responsive! A trustworthy company that’s clearly trying to do the right thing for their fellow Lubbock small businessman.
