About

Performance Roofing, Inc. is a family owned residential, commercial and multi family roofing contractor with its main office at 301 S McDonald St in McKinney (Collin County). Will Reid is listed as president and director on the company's Better Business Bureau profile and is the named contact on its Roofing Contractors Association of Texas record (member id 744). The company brands itself online as Performance Roofing of DFW and says it has served the metroplex since 1996, while the BBB file records the current corporate entity as starting on 26 June 2017, so the 1996 date is the company's own account of its history. Services include roof repair and replacement, new construction roofing, complimentary roof inspections, storm damage work and insurance claim support, gutter repair and installation, commercial and multi family roofing, and water and fire restoration. The systems it lists run from asphalt shingles, tile, slate, wood shake, metal and stone coated steel through to flat roofing including TPO, modified bitumen, built up and single ply membrane. The company advertises 24/7 on call service and says it keeps a roofing consultant living in each county it covers. Coverage spans the DFW Metroplex and roughly a dozen North Texas counties including Collin, Denton, Dallas, Tarrant, Rockwall, Grayson, Kaufman, Hunt, Wise, Johnson, Parker, Fannin and Ellis, and the BBB profile shows further offices serving Austin and the Denver area. Performance Roofing has been BBB accredited since January 2018 with an A+ rating. It also describes itself as a Google Guaranteed provider and a preferred contractor on The Good Contractors List, both stated by the company.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

If you’re looking for someone you can trust with your home, I highly recommend asking for Will at Performance Roofing of DFW. He provided outstanding service, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Thank you, Will, for a job well done!

Zach came out and was super upfront and professional about everything. He made it very easy for me to go with them as he was onsite during the whole process as well. The communication was excellent, the price was very reasonable, and the service was on point. I would have no problem recommending them to family and friends.

Brendan and Tyler exceeded our expectations with our home renovation project. They were onsite every day, stayed actively involved, and managed everything with professionalism and care. We had extensive repairs due to rotted subflooring, and they did an exceptional job restoring the flooring and structural support. They also painted and repaired a wall after old termite damage was discovered. Their craftsmanship, reliability, and attention to detail gave us complete confidence throughout the entire process. We highly recommend Performance Roofing—they are the only company we would trust with our home repairs. We are beyond pleased with the final results and truly appreciate all of their hard work.

Performance Roofing for the WIN! Our Project Manager, Mark, was especially great! The day after the storm, he walked the roof and tarped the damaged vent covers. He walked the entire property with my insurance adjuster to ensure that all the damage was recorded correctly and the measurements were accurate. His team of contractors were always timely, fast, and clean; taking care not to dirty our pool. He gave us regular updates and scheduled work around our needs, and called crews back without question to fix the minor details to my satisfaction. Our extensive hail claim was finished before many in my neighborhood have even started. This would not have been possible without Mark and Performance Roofing!

Frequently asked

Is Performance Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas issues no state roofing licence, so no McKinney roofer holds one. What can be checked is insurance, trade association standing and any city registration. Performance Roofing, Inc. is a member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and has been BBB accredited since January 2018 with an A+ rating.
Does RCAT membership mean the company is a licensed roofing contractor?
No. The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas has plain membership, which means joining and paying dues, and a separate Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) that is earned through testing and experience requirements. Performance Roofing is listed as a Member, which is not the same as holding that credential.
How long has Performance Roofing been in business?
The company's own site says it has served the Dallas Fort Worth area since 1996. Its BBB profile records the current corporation as starting on 26 June 2017. Both are on the record, so it is worth asking the company directly how the earlier history connects to the present entity.
Which areas does the company cover?
The DFW Metroplex and roughly a dozen North Texas counties, including Collin, Denton, Dallas, Tarrant, Rockwall, Grayson, Kaufman, Hunt, Wise, Johnson, Parker, Fannin and Ellis. Named cities include McKinney, Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Allen, Sherman, Rockwall and Weatherford, and the company also lists offices serving Austin and Denver.
Does the company work on commercial and apartment roofs?
Yes. Alongside residential work it lists commercial and multi family or apartment roofing, and it installs flat systems including TPO, modified bitumen, built up and single ply membrane as well as metal.
Can Performance Roofing help with a hail insurance claim?
Storm restoration and insurance claim support are listed services and the company offers a complimentary roof inspection. A roofer can document damage and be present for the adjuster's visit, but the insurance carrier decides what is covered and what it pays.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles a good idea in Collin County?
Collin County takes regular hail, so Class 4 impact resistant shingles are a common upgrade in McKinney, Frisco and Plano. They resist hail bruising better than standard laminates and most Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a qualifying roof. Get the impact rating written into the contract and confirm the discount with your own carrier.
Does the company hold a manufacturer certification such as GAF Master Elite?
No manufacturer certification level was verified on a manufacturer's own contractor directory. The company advertises a lifetime shingle warranty, plus Google Guaranteed status and preferred standing on The Good Contractors List, all of which are stated by the company. Ask to see the current manufacturer standing on the manufacturer's own site if that matters to your warranty.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in McKinney?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting and inspection rules are set locally. Check the City of McKinney or your own city's building department for your address, and confirm in the contract who pulls the permit and who schedules the inspection.
What should I check before signing with any roofer in North Texas?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent straight from the agent, covering general liability and, where applicable, workers compensation. Get the full scope in writing including decking replacement pricing, underlayment, flashing and ventilation, and the shingle line and impact rating. Keep the workmanship warranty separate from the manufacturer warranty in the paperwork. Under Texas law a contractor cannot pay, waive or absorb your insurance deductible, so treat any such offer as a red flag.
