Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We had our roof replaced in January. No complaints about the work, the professionalism and their patience. Unfortunately we had issues with our homeowners insurance who was refusing to cover the decking. I gotta say onpoint did their diligence and went back and forth with my insurance to make this happen. The insurance were the ones holding everything up. I'm thankful they knew how the whole process worked and that they patiently delt with them. Trent who took care of the contracting did such an AMAZING job not only on keeping us updated but actually know his job and dealing with our insurance company. This was certainly a learning experience and Trent did a well job of explaining and answering all the questions we had regarding the matter. I would DEFINITELY recommend and use them AGAIN. The crew was also very respectful, knowledgeable, professional and worked in a quick manner. Thank you Onpoint for your Service!

Our rep Steven Kyte has been working diligently for us coordinating with 2 insurance companies for almost 3 years. We could not wait any longer so had to pay out of pocket due to leaks after the storm a couple of weeks ago. The crew arrived bright and early to set up and finished the same day. All very professional. Steven was on site and was exceptional. We are very happy with the results. I highly recommend OnPoint for your roofing needs. Customer service was incredible.

We wanted to give a shout out to On Point Roofing who we used for our new roof. They installed a new roof with a large enough crew to finish in one day. Gutters and gutter guards to follow and did it all in a time crunch ahead of our family vacation. They made the process easy and the roof turned out great! Thank you to Rich Cash who was absolutely awesome— they are responsibly priced and do great work too!

Huge thanks to OnPoint Roofing! Our roof in Portland, Texas was a mess after the recent hail storm, but their team came through big time. The quality of their work is top-notch, and every person on the team was a pleasure to interact with. They even did a fantastic job with the cleanup, leaving our property pristine. We're beyond pleased with the outcome! Shoutout to Tyler and Rich for their excellent communication and service. I definitely endorse their work!

Onpoint roofing did an amazing job with our roof in Portland Texas after the hail storm. They tore off and replaced the roof in one day. Very quality work the whole team was great to deal with. They cleaned up everything after the work was completed and made sure we were extremely satisfied. Tyler McDonough and Cody Sobolak were great to deal with. I would highly recommend them.

Frequently asked

How do I know this is the right OnPoint Roofing?
OnPoint Roofing is a common name and there are unrelated companies elsewhere. The Houston company is the one at 10400 Westoffice Drive, Suite 120, Houston, on (713) 907-0141, at onpointroofingtx.com. Its BBB Houston profile and its RCAT record both match that domain, address and phone.
Is OnPoint Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No. Texas does not issue a state roofing licence to anyone. Judge a Houston roofer on insurance, RCAT standing, BBB record, manufacturer credentials and any City of Houston or county requirement that applies to your job.
What is the company's RCAT standing?
OnPoint Roofing appears in the RCAT directory as a Member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. That is dues paying membership and is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential.
Which manufacturer credentials are verified and which are only claimed?
The company states on its own site that it is a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster and displays a FORTIFIED Roof badge. Neither could be confirmed on CertainTeed's or the IBHS FORTIFIED directory during this check, so both are recorded as stated by the company. The BBB accreditation and A+ rating were confirmed directly on the BBB profile.
Does it handle insurance claims?
Insurance restoration is a stated specialty, covering storm and hail damage work. Note that under Texas law a roofing contractor may not act as your public insurance adjuster on a job it is also contracted to perform, so ask exactly what role it takes in your claim.
What roofing materials does it install?
Asphalt shingle including CertainTeed Landmark AR, stone coated steel including Decra Shingle XD, standing seam metal, tile, and flat roof systems.
Are impact resistant shingles useful in Houston?
Houston sees hail less often than the North Texas hail belt but it does happen, and Class 4 impact rated shingles also stand up better to wind driven debris. Ask your insurer whether it offers a Class 4 premium discount, because not every Texas carrier does.
What are the office hours?
The contact page lists Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm at every office, with 24/7 on-call for emergencies. Other pages on the site show a wider Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm and Saturday 7am to 5pm window, so confirm when you call.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Houston?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is set locally. The City of Houston and the surrounding Harris County jurisdictions each have their own rules. Get written confirmation of who pulls the permit and schedules the inspection.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Ask for current general liability and workers compensation certificates sent directly by the insurer, a written scope naming the exact product line and underlayment, both the manufacturer warranty and the workmanship warranty in writing, who pulls the permit, and a payment schedule that does not demand a large deposit up front.
