Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Tim and his crew from Landmark Construction recently reconstructed my house that suffered from a water loss from a washing machine malfunction that flooded our house. Landmark quickly worked to reconstruct my home and worked with the insurance company to restore my home to better than new in a timely manner. Tim was fantastic to work with and I would highly recommend Landmark Construction to anyone. Thank you!

Landmark just completed my third job, yes third because first two were beyond my expectations. I let them know what I need, comes out promptly, takes a complete look at what I need. Within two days I will have the quote. Then I schedule and he shows up as promised. The work I have had done to my home, has greatly improved the outside appearance and it is quality work that I know will last in this Texas heat. I know I am getting a fair price for quality work. Bonus, he does not try to upsell me!! I will use Landmark for every home project I need. You will be impressed with the high quality work that is done at a reasonable cost.

Frequently asked

Is Landmark Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
No Texas roofing contractor holds a state roofing licence, because Texas does not issue one. The checks that matter are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, RCAT status, and any registration the city or county requires for the job.
What does the RCAT Member status mean here?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member means the company pays dues and belongs to the association. It is a different and lesser thing than RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL). Landmark Construction is recorded here as a Member, not as Licensed.
Does the company have a website?
Yes, landmark-ntx.com, where it trades as Landmark Roofing and Restoration. The site was not on the association record but is confirmed as this company by the BBB and Houzz profiles, which both list the same Forney address and phone number.
Which phone number is current?
The website gives 469-746-3917. The RCAT record, the BBB profile and the Houzz profile all give 469-478-0607, and RCAT also lists 214-557-9344. Try the website number first and use the others as backups.
Does it hold GAF, Owens Corning or CertainTeed certification?
None was found. A search of the manufacturers' own contractor directories turned up no profile for this company, and the company's own site does not claim any manufacturer certification. That does not mean the workmanship is poor, but it does mean no manufacturer backed extended warranty should be assumed. Ask directly what warranty is on offer.
Is it BBB accredited?
No. Its BBB file was opened on 18 December 2018 and BBB states it does not have sufficient information to issue a rating. With a thin public record, lean harder on proof of insurance and recent local references.
Are impact resistant shingles worth it in Kaufman County?
Kaufman County sits in the North Texas hail belt, so Class 4 impact rated shingles are the common upgrade. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof. Confirm the discount with your carrier before paying the upgrade, since the payback varies a lot.
Does Forney require a permit for a reroof?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is set city by city. The City of Forney does require permits for roof replacement. Ask the contractor to confirm the permit is pulled and inspection passed before you release final payment.
How does the insurance claim process usually work after a Texas hail storm?
You file with your carrier, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues a scope and payment less your deductible and any depreciation. A contractor can meet the adjuster and document damage, but under Texas law a roofer cannot act as your public adjuster on the same claim, and no contractor may pay, waive or absorb your deductible.
What should I ask before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance emailed straight from the insurer showing general liability and workers compensation. Ask whether crews are employees or subcontractors. Get the shingle brand, line, colour and impact rating in writing along with the workmanship warranty term. Ask for two local references from the past year, and read the cancellation terms before you sign anything on the doorstep.
