About

Tiger Roofing is a family owned residential and commercial roofing contractor based in Kaufman, in Kaufman County east of Dallas. The BBB profile lists Rodney Lawson as owner and operator alongside Kathy Lawson, and records the business as starting on 6/20/2013. Rodney Lawson holds the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (Residential Roofing License #01-0421), which is a separately earned credential and not the same thing as plain RCAT membership. The company works across roof replacement, roof repair, metal and tile roofing, siding, gutters and storm damage restoration, and it appears in GAF's contractor directory at a Kaufman address. Kaufman County sits inside the North Texas hail belt, so hail claim work and impact resistant shingle options are a routine part of roofing here rather than an unusual add on. The company is also listed as a member of the Terrell Chamber of Commerce. Tiger Roofing has no working website at the time of this review. The domain listed on its RCAT record (goodrooferstx.com) does not resolve, and the domain listed on its BBB profile (tigerroofingtx.com) now returns a redirect to an unrelated third party page rather than any roofing content. Homeowners should reach the company by phone and confirm current insurance certificates directly.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0421 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Due to hail damage I needed a new roof on both my home and shop building. Tiger roofing did a fantastic job. We had great communication and they also replaced my old metal porch awning with a beautiful frame build awning. I have recommended them in person to neighbors and friends several times as they were professional, friendly, and the work is top notch!

If you're looking for a reliable roofing company in Kaufman, TX, I highly recommend Tiger Roofing. From the initial roof inspection to the final cleanup, their team was professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the entire roofing process, answered all of my questions, and kept me informed every step of the way. The crew arrived on time, completed the roof replacement efficiently, and left my property spotless. The workmanship was excellent, and the new roof looks fantastic. What really stood out was their attention to detail and commitment to customer service. If you need roof repair, roof replacement, storm damage restoration, gutter installation, or help with an insurance claim in Kaufman County, Tiger Roofing is the company to call. It's refreshing to work with a local, family-owned roofing contractor that genuinely cares about its customers and stands behind its work. I would absolutely use Tiger Roofing again!

Tiger Roofing has been a fantastic company for me to partner with when helping my real estate clients. In this business, it’s important to work with vendors who are reliable, responsive, and take great care of the people we send their way. Lee from Tiger Roofing consistently delivers all of that. He communicates clearly, shows up and provides honest assessments, which is incredibly valuable during real estate transactions when timing matters. My clients have had great experiences with this team and the quality of their work speaks for itself. Definitely give them a call!

Tiger Roofing provides excellent customer service. Last week just before the rain, Rodney sent his crew to repair squirrel damage to my roof. Sent him a text on Tuesday morning. He personally delivered materials for repair on Tuesday afternoon. His workmen came at 10 on Wednesday. Repair done by noon. Not a moment too soon. Rodney’s response time was amazing. They did my new roof about 2 years ago and service was exceptional. I highly recommend Tiger Roofing.

Went with Tiger Roofing because it's a local company to Kaufman with great people. Lee was our representative and he spent the entire day on site monitoring the progress. The crew was professional and had the job done in ONE DAY! They were diligent in the cleanup process and were so professional. The owner even made an appearance to see the finished product and you could tell he's so proud of his team. The process was so easy with many choices in color, we went with "Majestic Shake" and couldn't be happier. If you need a new roof, these are the guys to go with. Thank you Lee, Rodney and the whole team.

Frequently asked

Does Tiger Roofing have a website?
Not a working one at the time of this review. The address on its RCAT record does not resolve, and the domain shown on its BBB profile now redirects to an unrelated page. Contact the company by phone instead, and treat any site claiming to be theirs with caution until they confirm it.
Is Tiger Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no roofer in Texas holds one. What this company does hold is the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, a voluntary industry credential earned through the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Rodney Lawson is listed with Residential Roofing License #01-0421.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
RCAT Member means the company pays association dues. RCAT Licensed is a separate credential earned by passing RCAT's examination and meeting its requirements, and it comes in residential (RRL), commercial (CRL) and combined (CRRL) forms. They are not equivalent, and Tiger Roofing is recorded as Licensed.
Why does hail matter so much for a Kaufman County roof?
Kaufman County sits on the eastern edge of the North Texas hail belt, where spring storms regularly drop hail large enough to bruise or fracture asphalt shingles. Damage is often not visible from the ground, so a post storm inspection is worth booking even when the roof looks intact.
What are Class 4 impact resistant shingles and are they worth it here?
Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 steel ball impact test. These shingles resist hail bruising better than standard architectural shingles, and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them. Ask your carrier what the discount is before you decide, because it varies a lot by company.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Kaufman?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting and inspection are handled city by city and county by county. Check with the City of Kaufman or Kaufman County for your specific address, and make sure the contractor, not you, pulls the permit.
How should I verify a roofer's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance showing both general liability and workers compensation, and ask that it be sent to you directly by the insurance agent rather than forwarded by the contractor. Confirm the policy dates cover your project window.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask who is pulling the permit, whether the crew is employed or subcontracted, what the manufacturer warranty covers versus the workmanship warranty, what happens if the insurance scope changes mid job, and how deck replacement is priced per sheet.
Should a roofer negotiate my hail claim for me?
A roofer can meet your adjuster on site and document damage, but in Texas a contractor cannot act as your public insurance adjuster on the same job they are contracted to perform. Be wary of anyone offering to waive or absorb your deductible, which is not lawful.
Do coastal windstorm rules like WPI-8 apply in Kaufman County?
No. WPI-8 windstorm certification through TWIA applies only to the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties. Kaufman County is inland, so the relevant considerations are hail resistance, ventilation, decking condition and local permitting rather than windstorm certification.
