About
Klindworth Roofing is a family owned roofing contractor working out of 2001 Timberloch Place in The Woodlands, serving Montgomery County and the greater Houston area. Its own website lists roof replacement, roof repair, storm damage work, gutter replacement and commercial roofing, with metal panel and composition shingle systems as the two product lines it promotes most heavily. BBB records show the business started in 2017.
The company is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited in February 2025. It also promotes a Mueller number one best roofing company in The Woodlands award for 2023. That is a manufacturer sponsored recognition stated by the company, not an independently verified credential, and homeowners should treat it as marketing rather than a third party audit.
The Woodlands sits in the inland hail belt north of Houston rather than on the coast, so the practical roofing question here is hail and wind damage on asphalt and metal roofs, not coastal windstorm certification. Texas issues no state roofing licence, so verify general liability and workers compensation coverage directly with the insurer before any work begins. Service areas named on the company site are The Woodlands, Conroe, Magnolia, Cypress and Houston.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration
No government registration in The WoodlandsThe Woodlands is a township, not a city, and Montgomery County does not enforce building codes on single family homes. Deed restrictions still apply, so check with The Woodlands Township before work starts. No city or county body registers roofers or inspects this work here, so a contractor's insurance and RCAT standing carry more weight than usual. Ask to see both.
Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0636 or the company name.
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Klindworth re roofed my house. I had a very old roof and required 100% roof deck replacement and metal roof. My old roof had suddenly been breached. I called them and William stabilized my problem by applying an emergency (blue tarp) he waited the materials to get delivered and for good weather forecast to replace my decking and roof. This was a big job and they finished all of the crucial items in a very short 2 days. They worked very hard to clean up the mess on the 3rd day and went above and beyond in every phase of the project. Above all, they always showed up when they said they would and did everything they promised +++++.

I don't know why it took me so long to write this review, but I highly recommend Klindworth Roofing for your roofing needs. My roof was damaged during Hurricane Beryl in 2024 and I was pleasantly surprised by the absolute positive experience it was working with them. They were prompt, professional, courteous, communicative and delivered on every promise they made. I can honestly say that this was the first roofing company I have ever had a good experience with. They were priced fairly, and performed high quality work. This is a top-notch company!

I can’t praise this company enough. Josh helped us through a battle with insurance, always kind & communicative, showing incredible patience and most importantly of all — our roof was installed beautifully & with efficiency, all while providing the best warranty we’ve ever come across. It’s so rare these days to truly feel like you are taken care of by a company and our family will forever be grateful for how they handled our project. Thanks a million Josh & the whole Klindworth crew!! If I could give more stars, I would. Highly recommend.

Klindworth Roofing is a great company to work with. They did our home roof with expertise, completed it on time and beet the competition on pricing. So we had them do a roof on our rental house too. Great communication, great value, always made appointments and they went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with their service. Highly recommended!

Frequently asked
Is Klindworth Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No, and neither is any other Texas roofer. Texas has no state roofing licence at all. Trust in Texas comes from verified insurance, RCAT standing, city or county registration where it applies, and a real local track record. Any contractor who tells you they are state licensed to roof in Texas is either confused or misleading you.
What does RCAT Member mean versus RCAT Licensed?
They are two different things. RCAT Member simply means the company pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and experience requirements and is held by an individual. A company can be a Member without anyone on staff holding the credential. Ask which one applies before you assume.
How do I verify Klindworth Roofing's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers compensation, then call the insurance agent listed on the certificate to confirm the policy is active on the day your work starts. A certificate emailed by the contractor proves nothing on its own. If a roofer carries no workers compensation, an injury on your roof can become your problem.
Who issues roofing permits in The Woodlands?
The Woodlands is not an incorporated city and has no municipal government or city building department. Permitting for unincorporated Montgomery County is handled at the county level, and many Woodlands villages also have covenant and design review requirements administered by The Woodlands Township for exterior changes including roof colour and material. Confirm both before your roofer orders material.
Does The Woodlands need windstorm certification like the coast?
No. Montgomery County is not one of the fourteen first tier Gulf Coast counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, so WPI-8 windstorm certificates do not apply here. That is a coastal requirement. Inland, your insurer cares about hail and wind resistance ratings, not TWIA certification.
Are impact resistant Class 4 shingles worth it in Montgomery County?
Often yes. Class 4 is the top UL 2218 impact rating and many Texas carriers offer a premium discount for it. Ask your own insurer what the discount is on your policy, then compare it against the material upcharge. Class 4 reduces the chance of a claim after a moderate hail event, but no shingle is hail proof.
What year was Klindworth Roofing established?
BBB records list the business as started in 2017, and the RCAT directory record shows the same founding year. The company is BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, accredited in February 2025.
Does Klindworth Roofing handle insurance claims for hail damage?
The company lists storm damage assessment and repair among its services. In Texas a roofer may inspect, document damage and meet your adjuster on site, but a roofer is not allowed to negotiate or adjust your claim on your behalf unless licensed as a public adjuster. Be cautious of any contractor who offers to handle the whole claim for you.
What roofing materials does Klindworth Roofing install?
Its own site shows composition asphalt shingle systems, metal roofing including standing seam, and flat or low slope commercial systems. Metal is featured prominently across the site and project gallery, so it is a genuine capability rather than a token listing.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Get the total price and payment schedule in writing, ask who the on site supervisor is and whether crews are employees or subcontractors, confirm the manufacturer warranty and the separate workmanship warranty in years, require proof of active general liability and workers compensation, and never pay the full amount up front. If a storm chaser knocks after a hail event, check they have a permanent Texas address before you hand over a deposit.
