About

J&J Roofing Pros is an Austin based residential and commercial roofing contractor. Its RCAT record and its BBB profile both list a North Austin office at 14205 N Mopac Expressway, Suite 570, Austin, TX 78728, in Travis County, and the BBB file also shows a Cedar Park mailing location. The company works across Central Texas and publishes a service area list covering more than fifty Austin neighborhoods, suburbs and Hill Country towns, from Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville and Georgetown out to Dripping Springs, San Marcos and New Braunfels. The company offers full roof replacement and repair, storm damage documentation, complimentary roof inspections and preventive maintenance, plus gutters and siding. On the metal side it describes standing seam, snap lock and exposed fastener systems in a range of colors and gauges, and its own site also references TPO and spray coating work on the commercial side. The BBB lists the LLC as incorporated on 27 April 2025 and BBB accredited since 18 November 2025, while the company's About page describes over a decade of combined crew experience rather than a decade in business under this name. Austin sits on the southern edge of Texas hail country, so storm documentation and insurance claim support are a large part of what a Central Texas roofer does. Texas has no state roofing licence, so homeowners should confirm general liability and workers compensation coverage directly, and should treat manufacturer programme claims as something to verify with the manufacturer before signing.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

J and J helped get hail claim and went the extra effort to request a reinspection by adjuster when was declined by insurance for roof replacement. Will was really tesponsive and helpful in this entire project. They gave a reasonable price and did a good job with good oversight during the installation. Ian assisted with coordination with financing and other items. Gutter replacement was included. And overall this was way better than I expected.

Frequently asked

Does Texas issue a state roofing licence?
No. Texas has no state roofing licence, so no roofer in Austin can be state licensed for roofing. What matters instead is proof of general liability and workers compensation insurance, any city or county registration that applies, and voluntary industry credentials such as RCAT membership or the separate RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor designation.
What does it mean that J&J Roofing Pros is an RCAT member?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, a trade association. Membership means the company pays dues and participates in the association. It is not the same thing as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which carries the RRL, CRRL or CRL designation after an individual's name. Ask which one a contractor holds.
Why do Austin roofs fail so often?
Central Texas sits at the southern end of the state's hail corridor, and Travis and Williamson counties see damaging hail and straight line wind most springs. Hail bruises asphalt shingles and dents metal and vents, and the damage often does not leak immediately. That is why free post storm inspections and written documentation matter here.
What are Class 4 impact resistant shingles and are they worth it in Austin?
Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 steel ball impact test. Class 4 shingles resist hail bruising better than standard shingles, and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them. Ask your carrier what discount applies before you choose, because the discount varies a lot by company.
Does J&J Roofing Pros help with insurance claims?
The company advertises storm damage documentation and complimentary roof inspections, which is the evidence gathering side of a claim. A roofer can document and estimate damage, but under Texas law a contractor cannot act as your public adjuster on a job it also wants to perform. Keep those two roles separate.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Austin?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is set city by city and county by county. The City of Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park and Pflugerville each set their own rules for reroof permits and inspections. Ask your contractor to confirm the requirement for your specific address and to pull the permit in its own name.
How should I check a roofer's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the agent, not a copy from the contractor. Confirm general liability limits and whether workers compensation is carried, since Texas does not require most private employers to carry it. If a crew is injured on your roof and there is no coverage, the exposure can land on you.
What roofing materials does the company work with?
Its site lists premium asphalt shingles and metal roofing systems, including standing seam, snap lock and exposed fastener panels in various colors and gauges, plus TPO and spray coatings for flat and low slope commercial roofs. It also installs gutters and siding.
How old is the business?
The BBB file lists JJ Roofing Pros, LLC as incorporated on 27 April 2025 and BBB accredited since 18 November 2025. The company's own About page describes over a decade of combined experience among its founders, which refers to individual experience rather than years trading under this name. Both facts are worth weighing.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Get the full scope in writing with the shingle line and colour named, the underlayment and ventilation spelled out, the workmanship warranty length and who honours it, the payment schedule tied to milestones rather than a large deposit, and confirmation that the company and not a subcontractor holds the permit. Never sign a contingency agreement you have not read.
