Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0548 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We had an excellent experience with HomeOver General Contractors managing a large, multi-trade project that included roof replacement, skylight replacement, gutter installation, and painting. Ethan was outstanding to work with—organized, responsive, and very knowledgeable. He coordinated all of the crews seamlessly and kept us informed throughout each phase of the project. Each crew showed up as scheduled, worked efficiently, and did quality work. Cleanup was thorough after each trade, and the job site was always left in great condition. Having one contractor oversee multiple trades made the entire process stress-free. The attention to detail, communication, and overall workmanship really stood out. We felt confident from start to finish and would highly recommend HomeOver General Contractors to anyone needing roofing or general contracting services.

Operations Team were stellar! Quick, efficient and attentive to detail. The management team was commutative and made sure all follow-up with insurance, city and (oddly) neighbors were taken care of (hands-free). Will 100% refer and use Homeover General Contractors into the future.

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state roofing license?
No. Texas has no state roofing licence, so no Carrollton roofer can be licensed by the state for roofing work. Verify current general liability and workers compensation insurance, check the physical business address, and treat voluntary credentials such as RCAT status as a bonus rather than a government approval.
What is RCAT and what does the company's status mean?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Plain Membership means dues paying association membership. RCAT separately awards a Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) that has to be earned. HomeOver is carried here at the Member level, while the company's own site describes itself as an RCAT licensed roofing company, so ask the company which credential it holds.
How do I check the company's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance issued directly by the agency, naming you as certificate holder. Confirm general liability and workers compensation are both current and that coverage dates span your project. Without workers compensation, an injured crew member can become your problem.
Why does hail matter so much in Carrollton?
Carrollton sits in the North Texas hail corridor, where several damaging hail events a year are normal. Hail bruises the asphalt mat and knocks granules loose, which shortens roof life long before leaks appear, so a post storm inspection is worth doing even when the roof looks fine from the driveway.
Should I install Class 4 impact resistant shingles?
Class 4 is the highest UL 2218 impact rating and many Texas insurers give a premium discount for it. In a hail prone area like Denton and Collin counties the combination of longer service life and a standing discount often pays back. Ask your insurer to quote the discount in writing first.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Carrollton?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permits are handled city by city. The City of Carrollton administers its own building permits and inspections, and surrounding DFW cities each set their own rules. Confirm who pulls the permit, the contractor or you, before signing.
Does HomeOver do commercial roofing?
Yes. Commercial roofing and commercial construction are listed services, and BBB categorises the company under commercial roofing as well as residential roofing contractors.
Does the company help with storm insurance claims?
Yes. Claims assistance is listed on its services page, covering damage documentation and coordination with the carrier. Note that in Texas only you or a licensed public adjuster can negotiate a claim settlement, so a roofer's role is documentation and repair scope.
How long does a roof replacement take?
A typical single family asphalt shingle tear off and reroof runs one to two days once materials are delivered. Metal roofs, steep pitches and large commercial decks take longer. After a major DFW hail event, expect a queue for both crews and materials.
What should I confirm before signing a contract?
Get the full price and payment schedule in writing, the exact shingle or panel product and underlayment, the workmanship warranty term, who is responsible for the permit and for the final inspection, and confirm the legal entity on the contract matches the name on the insurance certificate and the BBB profile.
