Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0628 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Our experience with Josh Vining, the owner of Greystone was that this company is a stand up company who will work with you in all aspects of the job. Josh and Trace went above and beyond throughout the entire job and made sure that we were happy. We were helped with picking our color and gave us their honest opinion. The roof looks great! Our particular job was challenging with all the landscape areas that needed to be worked around and with some add ons that we wanted. Patience and professionalism was 5 stars plus.

I’ve used Greyston Roofing for both my business’s metal building roof and my father-in-law’s home, and they’ve done an outstanding job every time. Their work is reliable, professional, and high quality. I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of roof repairs or services.

Josh and crew did an exceptional job on the tpo roof and metal siding we installed on a townhome project in Oak Lawn, Dallas. Very easy to work with and clearly high quality finish.

Frequently asked

Is Greystone Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Texas roofer can hold one. The voluntary RCAT program is the closest equivalent, and Greystone is listed in this directory with the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor status, a credential that is earned separately from plain association membership.
What does the RCAT Licensed credential mean compared to RCAT membership?
RCAT membership only means a company has joined the association. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential requires passing an examination and vetting. It is a meaningful voluntary distinction in a state with no government roofing license.
Does Greystone handle both commercial and residential roofs?
Yes. The company works on homes and on commercial buildings, with services from full replacement to preventative maintenance programs, and it appears in GAF's commercial contractor directory as a factory-certified contractor.
Does Greystone install metal roofing?
Yes, metal roofing is a stated specialty, including standing seam and architectural panels, along with soffit and wall panels. Metal performs well in North Texas hail and heat, though dent resistance varies by product, so ask about the specific panel.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in Denton County?
Usually worth pricing out. Denton County sits in the North Texas hail corridor, and Class 4 rated shingles resist hail damage better. Many Texas insurers discount the wind and hail portion of the premium for them, so confirm the discount with your insurer first.
Can Greystone help with a hail damage insurance claim?
The company states that it has licensed insurance adjusters and roof inspectors on staff and offers storm claim support. Whoever you hire, be present for the adjuster visit and never accept an offer to waive your deductible, which is illegal in Texas.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Aubrey or Frisco?
Texas has no statewide building code, so each city sets its own permitting and inspection rules. Check with your city's building department and put in writing who pulls any required permit.
What areas does Greystone serve?
Greystone is based in Aubrey and serves the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, including Frisco, McKinney, Flower Mound, Prosper, Allen, Plano, Southlake, Keller, Grapevine, and Colleyville. The company states it also serves Oklahoma markets.
Does Greystone offer emergency leak repair?
Yes, the company advertises 24 hour emergency leak repair services in addition to scheduled repair and maintenance work.
What should I verify before signing with any Texas roofer?
Ask for current proof of general liability insurance, a written scope with exact materials and manufacturer warranty registration, the workmanship warranty length, who handles permits, and local references. Decline any offer to absorb your insurance deductible.
