The company installs composition shingles, Spanish tile, metal roofing, and low slope modified systems. It displays GAF Certified Contractor and Owens Corning Preferred Contractor badges, is an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, and is BBB accredited with an A+ rating. Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0172 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

They did such a good job. Finished right before Hurricane Hanna and the roof stay strong and solid. I highly recommend Gill Roofing. Honest and professional. They complete every thing I asked them to do even the extras. The crew was great and polite. I would not use anyone else but Gill Roofing.

I would recommend Gill Roofing to do you roofing work. I needed a new roof and they were the quick and very professional. They cleaned up after themselves daily. They have a great BBB score and have been in business for a very long time. That is better then some of the other roofing companies that are just a fly by night company.

They did a great job for me. The crew kept everything so clean and they were so polite. My new roof is beautiful. I love it. I got my warranty papers for the shingles and the windstorm certificate.

Please never hire Gill's roofing they are not trustworthy. I did not hire them Thank God I didn't. The man that came to do estimate was very deceitfull, he told me I needed things I did not need then he gave me a high estimate then said he had his own business and would do the job for a little less money but still said I needed things I did not. How was he allowed to take work from Gill's I do not understand. I hired a different company and it is wind storm certified they charged me way below what Gill's and the man that did the estimate both where charging and Gill's wanted half the money and so did the man that wanted to take job from Gill's and the company I hired did not ask for money till job was complete and they were so different so trustworthy from the beginning the engineer came and inspected and all was good they did not say I needed all the things the man for Gill's roofing and engineer approved all work he got on ladder and went up there to check work it is certified. I had called Gill's because they are a known name and I thought they would be trustworthy but from the things the man said and I got a bad feeling and I am grateful I trusted my gut feelings

Frequently asked

Is Gill Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license. Gill Roofing holds the voluntary RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (its site displays license no 03-0172), a separately earned designation that requires an exam and proof of insurance. Always ask any Texas roofer for a current certificate of liability insurance.
What is a WPI-8 windstorm certificate and why does it matter in Corpus Christi?
Nueces County is in TWIA's first tier coastal territory. To keep or obtain TWIA windstorm coverage after a re-roof, the work generally needs a WPI-8 or WPI-8-E certificate confirming it meets the windstorm building code. The certificate is issued through the Texas Department of Insurance or by a Texas licensed professional engineer, never by the roofing company itself.
Does Gill Roofing do windstorm certified work?
A customer testimonial on the company's website mentions receiving a windstorm certificate along with shingle warranty papers after a completed roof, which suggests familiarity with the process. Confirm directly that your project will be built to windstorm spec and that the required engineer or TDI inspection is arranged before you sign.
How long has Gill Roofing been in business?
The company states it has served Corpus Christi since 1945 and remains family owned and operated.
What types of roofs does Gill Roofing install?
Composition shingles, Spanish tile, metal roofing, and low slope modified systems for flatter roofs, on both homes and commercial buildings.
Does Gill Roofing handle commercial roofing?
Yes. Commercial services include leak detection, installation, replacement, and repairs for businesses in Corpus Christi and surrounding areas.
What manufacturer credentials does the company hold?
Its site displays GAF Certified Contractor and Owens Corning Preferred Contractor badges and lists Polyglass among its material partners. Manufacturer credentials can unlock enhanced warranties, so ask which warranty applies to the material you choose.
Will my insurance pay for a new roof after a storm?
It depends on your policy and the damage. On the Texas coast, wind losses often fall under a separate TWIA windstorm policy rather than standard homeowners insurance. Document damage promptly, file with the correct carrier, and get a written scope from the roofer to compare with the adjuster's estimate.
Do I need a permit to re-roof in Corpus Christi?
Texas has no statewide building code authority; permitting is handled city by city. Corpus Christi generally requires permits for re-roofing, and windstorm code compliance affects TWIA insurability. An established local contractor should handle permitting as part of the job.
What should I confirm before signing a roofing contract on the Texas coast?
Proof of general liability insurance, who arranges the WPI-8 windstorm inspection, the exact materials and wind rating being installed, written warranty terms, and the payment schedule. Avoid paying large sums up front.
