About

Clear Fork Roofing has worked out of Abilene since 1979 and runs its office at 3080 E US Highway 80, an address inside the Abilene city limits in Taylor County. The company handles both residential and commercial roofing across the Big Country, covering full replacements, repairs, ongoing maintenance and roof coating systems, and it installs TPO single ply membrane on commercial buildings. The Better Business Bureau has listed the company as an Accredited Business since May 1995 with an A plus rating, and records its start date as December 1979, which matches the since 1979 claim on the company website. Clear Fork also appears in GAF's own commercial roofing contractor directory for Abilene. The company website says it installs products from GAF/ELK, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, DECRA and IKO. Those manufacturer relationships are stated by the company and the specific certification tiers were not confirmed on each manufacturer's own directory. Texas has no state roofing license, so the checks that actually matter here are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, the company's RCAT standing and City of Abilene permitting. Clear Fork Roofing appears in the RCAT directory as a member contractor handling residential and commercial work.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration Not checked for AbileneTexas has no state roofing licence, and city rules differ: some require contractor registration, some run a voluntary registry, some neither. Ask this company and your local permit office.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0353 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

(Sorry for the late post) Jason and his crew are amazing hard working guys.. They showed up on time, got 3/4 done but due to a bad storm that was coming in he cared about his crew so much he made sure they got home before it hit, they were back the next day to finish up.. There was no mess left behind and we got an amazing beautiful roof.. I recommend Clear Fork Roofing 100% Thank you Jason for everything you did for us.. Kathy n Dave :)

Frequently asked

Is Clear Fork Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofing contractor in Texas is. Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so there is no state licence number to look up. What you can check is proof of general liability and workers compensation insurance, the company's RCAT standing and whether the City of Abilene pulled a permit for your job.
What does the RCAT Member status on this listing actually mean?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member means the company belongs to the association. That is separate from RCAT's earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which involves testing and additional requirements. Clear Fork Roofing is recorded here as a Member, not as an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor.
Which county is Clear Fork Roofing in?
Taylor County. Abilene is the county seat of Taylor County, and the company's address at 3080 E US Highway 80, Abilene, TX 79601 sits on the Taylor County side. Abilene does extend into Jones County at its northern edge, but this address does not.
Does Abilene get enough hail to matter for a roof?
Yes. West Central Texas sits in the broad hail belt that runs through North and Central Texas, and hail is the single most common cause of roof claims in the region. If your roof is more than ten years old it has likely taken hail at some point, even if the damage is not visible from the ground.
Are impact resistant Class 4 shingles worth it in Abilene?
Often yes. Class 4 is the top UL 2218 impact rating, and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a documented Class 4 roof. Ask your own insurer what discount they give before you decide, because the size of the credit varies a lot by carrier.
How do I know whether hail actually damaged my roof?
Get an inspection rather than guessing. Real hail damage on asphalt shingles looks like soft bruised spots with granules knocked loose, and it often shows on soft metal first, so check gutters, vents and any metal flashing. Clear Fork Roofing offers free estimates.
Does Clear Fork Roofing do commercial flat roofs?
Yes. The company installs TPO single ply on commercial buildings and lists roof coating systems, roof maintenance and roof leak repair among its commercial services. BBB categorises it under Commercial Roofing as well as Roofing Contractors.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Abilene?
Texas has no statewide building code administered at the state level, so permitting is handled city by city. Roof replacement in the Abilene city limits is a City of Abilene building department matter. Confirm with the city, and expect a reputable contractor to pull the permit rather than asking you to.
How long has the company been in business?
Since 1979. The company's own website says it has served the Big Country since 1979, and the BBB file records a business start date of December 1979, which lines up.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer, not a photocopy. Ask who pulls the permit. Ask for the manufacturer warranty and the workmanship warranty in writing, and check what voids each. Ask whether the price is a firm scope or subject to insurance approval, and never pay the full amount up front.
