About

Hartman Roofing's Abilene office at 1565 Dunnam, off Treadway behind ACME Brick, is one of the oldest branches of the West Texas roofing company founded in San Angelo in May 1988. The company says it started the Abilene branch in 1993 on Dunnam Drive, and the location has been BBB accredited since November 1993 with an A+ rating. Jon Rogers manages the branch, and the company notes that most of the Abilene staff has been with it since the early days. Across its offices in San Angelo, Abilene, Amarillo, Midland, and Clovis, New Mexico, the company roofs an average of 1,200 homes a year with permanent year-round crews. Each location runs its own office and warehouse with in-house sheet metal fabrication for custom flashing, and crews can be moved between cities after major hail storms. Roofing types include composition shingles, metal, impact-resistant shingles, stone-coated steel, cedar shake, and commercial systems. The company website displays Owens Corning Platinum Contractor and GAF Master Elite badges alongside BBB and RCAT logos.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #02-0265 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Hartman Roofing is the only place to go for your roofing needs! Fort Chadbourne had a hail storm come thru and we received several grants to replace the roofs with a 50 year roof that is fire proof since we are in a rural area and it looks amazing!! Kirby’s employees came in and worked thru some high winds that we did not expect them to do and cleaned up during the job and we could not have asked for a better job! They are #1 as far as we are concerned!!

Jon Rogers and Hartman Roofing in Abilene Texas are very Professional. They made our experience getting a new roof easy. There crew came in and left like nobody wasn’t even there. There wasn’t any damages to our home or our landscaping. No nails or shingles on the ground when they were done. The roof shingles look really professional on my home. Thanks Jon and Hartman Roofing

We are very happy with our new roof from Hartman Roofing. Hartman Roofing had put on the previous roof 12 years ago, and we wanted to stick with that quality. Mr. Hartman explained the process to us, quickly answered our phone calls, and helped us set a convenient date. The roofing crew worked from daybreak to dusk, completing our challenging high-angle roof in that one day. Hartman Roofing also replaced 2 damaged skylights. The roof looks great. The color is perfect. The roofing crew thoroughly cleaned up the debris. The process was easy on our side. Mr. Hartman returned to make sure the job was complete and that we were happy. We highly recommend Hartman Roofing.

Hartman roofing is such a big community supporter and not only in San Angelo and Abilene but also rural surrounding areas. We are grateful for over 10 years of support of our event; Bronteoberfest! Bronteoberfest is Restoring Bronte Foundation’s yearly fundraiser and with funds made, we have made a big impact to Bronte including putting a new playground in our park. Without company’s like Hartman Roofing we would not be able to continue. When picking a roofing company, make sure to take their community involvement into factor.

Frequently asked

Is Hartman Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Abilene roofer holds one. Vet a roofer by RCAT affiliation, verified liability insurance, manufacturer credentials, and BBB history instead. The Abilene office has been BBB accredited since 1993 with an A+ rating.
Where is the Abilene office and who runs it?
The office is at 1565 Dunnam, Abilene, TX 79602, off Treadway behind ACME Brick. Jon Rogers manages the branch; reach him at 325-692-5003 or jon@hartmanroofing.com.
How long has Hartman Roofing been in Abilene?
The company says it started its Abilene branch in 1993 on Dunnam Drive, and BBB accreditation for the Abilene location dates to November 1993. The parent company was founded in San Angelo in May 1988.
Is the Abilene office a real branch or just a registration?
A real branch. It has its own street address and warehouse, its own phone and fax, a named branch manager, long-tenured local staff, its own BBB file, and its own Facebook and Yelp listings.
Does Hartman Roofing handle hail damage in Abilene?
Hail is the dominant roofing risk in the Big Country, and storm-driven replacement is a core part of the company's West Texas work. It can also mobilize crews from sister offices after a large Abilene hail event. Start with an inspection before filing an insurance claim.
Should I upgrade to impact-resistant shingles in Abilene?
Worth pricing. Class 4 impact-resistant shingles hold up better to the hail that hits Taylor County, and many Texas insurers offer premium discounts for them. Get the product class in writing and confirm the discount with your insurer first.
Does the company do commercial roofing?
Yes. Commercial roofing is one of its listed roofing types alongside residential composition shingle, metal, stone-coated steel, impact-resistant, and cedar shake systems.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Abilene?
Texas permitting is set city by city because there is no statewide building code. For property inside Abilene city limits, check with the City of Abilene building services, and ask your contractor who pulls the permit before work begins.
What is the difference between an RCAT member and an RCAT licensed contractor?
RCAT membership means a company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas; the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is a separate qualification earned through testing and vetting. Ask which one applies; they are not the same.
What should I ask an Abilene roofer before signing?
Ask for a certificate of liability insurance sent directly by the insurer, a written scope with the exact shingle line, who pulls the city permit, how the manufacturer warranty is registered, references from recent Abilene jobs, and payment terms that do not require a large deposit before materials arrive.
