About
BRYJO Roofing and Remodeling is a full service residential roofing and remodeling company at 913 18th Street in Plano, Collin County. The company was founded in 2000 by Michael and Maria Harris, starting in roofing and insurance related fire and water restoration and later expanding into whole home remodeling. Its BBB profile shows accreditation since November 2000 with an A+ rating.
The roofing side covers roof replacement, roof repair, roof maintenance and roof inspections, along with siding and window replacement. The remodeling side covers kitchens, bathrooms, interiors, home additions, outdoor living spaces, accessibility modifications and fire restoration. That combination means a hail claim can be handled alongside interior repairs by the same contractor.
BRYJO is listed in the GAF contractor locator as a certified contractor and says it works with GAF, ELK, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, Tamko and DaVinci products. Its awards page lists a long run of NARI Contractor of the Year wins at local, regional and national level from 2013 through 2026, a 2012 Chrysalis Award, Houzz awards from 2022 to 2026, and a Best of Richardson award. The company serves Plano, Richardson, Allen, Carrollton, Garland, McKinney, Frisco, North Dallas and the wider Dallas metroplex.

Insurance & credential verification
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration
Required in Plano Permit office ↗Contractor Registration (Building Inspections Department). Registration is required here to pull a roofing permit; we have not confirmed this company's own status, so check it before you sign.
Status Current in the RCAT directory (no published licence number for this record)
RCAT member ID2005 (member since 2026)
Licence boardRCAT, Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (Texas issues no state roofing licence; RCAT runs the licensing programme)
Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Bryjo did a great job on our roof twice , and we are so pleased with railings they installed on our porches. Quality workmanship and work was done quickly! We highly recommend Bryjo!

Bryjo completed a total renovation of our master bath and bedroom. The project also included repainting the other bedrooms, hallway and deploying LED lighting through much of the house. After the primary project was done, we added an update to the hall bath, removing the old shower creating a beautiful and functional shower. We enjoyed working with Maria through the design phase. She has a talent for envisioning how a space can be improved. We love our new master bath and walk-in closet – both spaces were enlarged without adding square footage to the house! A shout out to Mahlon’s carpentry skills. He redeployed two original Ash wood doors from the master bath to the hall which look fabulous. The contractors who worked with Maria and her staff were polite and professional. We enjoyed good communication with Maria, Michael and their team. Kathy and Richard

Bry-Jo recently completed the roof and gutter replacement of my aging parent’s house in Plano. They did our roof nearly 10 years ago so I already knew their commitment to excellence and customer relationships. My family is grateful for the fine work that the Bry-Jo team has done for us.

Bryjo has been our roofer for over 20 years. They helped us put a new roof on our house before we sold it. They installed a high quality roof, quickly, and at a great price. Thanks again Michael.

Frequently asked
Is BRYJO licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer holds one. The meaningful checks are RCAT standing, current insurance certificates and the BBB file. BRYJO is an RCAT Member in the record we hold, and it has been a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating since 2000.
BRYJO is listed as an RCAT Member. What does that mean?
It means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and pays dues. It is not the same as the association's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires testing and insurance proof. Membership is a real affiliation, just a different and lower bar than the licensed credential.
Where is the company based and what does it cover?
The office is at 913 18th Street, Plano, TX 75074, in Collin County. Published service areas are Plano, Richardson, Allen, Carrollton, North Dallas, Garland, McKinney, Frisco and the greater Dallas metroplex.
Does BRYJO do remodeling as well as roofing?
Yes, and that is the core of the business. Alongside roofing, siding and windows, it handles kitchens, bathrooms, interiors, additions, outdoor living, accessibility modifications and fire restoration. Its awards history is heavily weighted toward remodeling categories.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Collin County?
Collin County sits in the heart of the North Texas hail belt, so it is worth pricing. A Class 4 shingle passes the UL 2218 steel ball impact test and many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for one. Confirm the exact credit with your agent first, since it varies by carrier, then compare it to the upgrade cost.
What shingle brands does it install?
The company names GAF, ELK, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, Tamko and DaVinci among the products it uses. It is listed in the GAF contractor locator for Plano. DaVinci is a synthetic slate and shake product line.
What awards has the company actually won?
Its published awards page lists NARI Contractor of the Year wins at local, regional and national level in bath, kitchen, interior, addition, outdoor living and universal design categories from 2013 through 2026, plus a 2012 Chrysalis Award for a residential interior, Houzz awards from 2022 to 2026, and a Best of Richardson award.
Can one contractor handle both my roof claim and the interior damage?
That is the practical argument for a combined roofing and remodeling firm. If a hail or wind event puts water through the ceiling, having roofing and interior trades under one contract avoids the handoff between two companies. Ask for a single written scope covering both parts and confirm what the insurer has actually approved.
Who pulls the permit for roofing and remodeling work in Plano?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting runs city by city. Plano, Richardson, Allen and Frisco each have their own requirements, and remodeling permits are typically stricter than reroof permits. Ask in writing who pulls each permit and confirm inspections are booked before you release final payment.
What should I ask before signing a contract?
Ask for general liability and workers compensation certificates sent directly by the insurer, a written scope naming the exact products and finishes, the workmanship warranty term, the payment schedule tied to milestones rather than dates, and how change orders are priced. In Texas the homeowner must pay the insurance deductible, so treat any offer to cover it as a warning sign.
