About

Upscale Roofing is a family owned roofing contractor founded in 2021 and run by the Terry family in Harris County. Its About page credits founder Stephen Terry with more than 40 years serving the Pasadena area, first through the pest control business his father started in 1978. Tyler Terry joined as COO in August 2022 and Ethan Terry is a co-owner handling project management and customer relations. The company works both residential and commercial properties across the Houston area. The company carries two Harris County addresses. Its RCAT record and its profile in GAF's own contractor directory are both registered to 7407 Spencer Hwy, Unit 110 in Pasadena, while its own website, its Pasadena Chamber of Commerce listing and its Yelp page use 4650 Center St in Deer Park, roughly five miles away. Both sit inside the company's stated home service area, both are commercial addresses, and both read as genuine working locations rather than mail drops. Its published process runs a free property inspection, then restoration or replacement, and it handles storm damage through the homeowner's insurance carrier, presenting the deductible as the customer's out of pocket cost. Owens Corning lists Upscale Roofing in its own contractor directory as a Preferred Contractor, and GAF's directory lists the Pasadena address as a GAF Certified contractor able to offer the System Plus limited warranty. A CertainTeed Select ShingleMaster credential is stated by the company on its own site and was not confirmed in CertainTeed's directory.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Last week, I had my entire roof and patio replaced. I was very pleased with the contractor, Adam Frazier, because he was professional and also helped me to find the best lender for my loan. As a 20 year elementary school teacher, my funds are limited and, Upscale Roofing was able to work with my schedule and needs. I would highly recommend them for your remodeling and roofing needs. The entire job took only 2.5 days.

Outstanding Roof Replacement by Upscale Roofing. Jamie, the Sales Agent, and Brent, Director of Project Management, did an absolutely phenomenal job on our roof replacement. From the first consultation to the final inspection, they were professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all our questions, and made the entire process smooth and stress free. The workmanship is top-notch. The new roof looks amazing and has already held up beautifully through some heavy weather. They showed up on time, kept the site clean, and were respectful of our home every step of the way. If you are looking for honest, reliable, and skilled roofing professionals, Jamie and Brent at Upscale Roofing are the ones to call. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend them! I want to extend a sincere thank you to Tyler Terry, the CFO, for going above and beyond in working with my insurance company. Your support made the entire process seamless and stress-free for me. I truly appreciate your time, effort , and willingness to help!

Upscale roofing put a new roof on my old house that had hail damage from storm last spring. They also at the same time put new roof on garage addition that we recently constructed. They handled the insurance claim smoothly for us and the work was done timely and professionally.

Brent with upscale is the way to go, very attentive to all questions. First time having a roof replaced was definitely uneasy and not a “fun” thing to do with your money after just buying a house, but the roof changed the whole look of the house. Came out beautiful and the guidance with color choices and type of shingle to pick from as well as the warranty and workmanship guarantees that come with the installation was much appreciated. I feel like my money was well spent on a good product.

Frequently asked

Does Texas issue a state roofing licence, and is Upscale Roofing state licensed?
Texas has no state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer is state licensed. What you can check instead is current general liability and workers compensation insurance, the company's RCAT status, its Better Business Bureau record, and whether it pulls the permits your city requires. Upscale Roofing is listed as an RCAT Member.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
They are two different things. Member means the company pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through testing and experience requirements. Upscale Roofing appears in the RCAT directory as a Member, not as a Licensed Roofing Contractor, and the two should never be treated as equivalent.
Does a Pasadena roof need WPI-8 windstorm certification?
No. WPI-8 certification applies to the fourteen first tier Gulf Coast counties covered by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. Harris County, which includes Pasadena and Deer Park, is not a TWIA first tier county, so a WPI-8 is not part of a normal Pasadena reroof. Any contractor telling you a Pasadena job requires a WPI-8 is mistaken.
If WPI-8 does not apply, does wind still matter on a Pasadena roof?
Yes, very much. Pasadena sits on the Houston Ship Channel and takes the outer bands of tropical systems, plus straight line thunderstorm gusts. Wind uplift at the eaves, rakes and ridge, and wind driven rain forced under shingles and through flashing, are the two failure modes to design against. Ask about starter strip, ridge and hip fastening, nailing pattern, and a self adhering ice and water style underlayment in the valleys and at penetrations.
Which of the two addresses is the real Upscale Roofing location?
Both appear genuine. The Pasadena address, 7407 Spencer Hwy Unit 110, is the one on its RCAT record and on its GAF contractor directory profile. The Deer Park address, 4650 Center St, is the one on the company's own website, its Yelp listing and its Pasadena Chamber of Commerce entry. They are about five miles apart and both are in Harris County.
Is hail a real concern this far southeast in Texas?
Hail is the dominant story in North and Central Texas rather than on the upper Gulf Coast, but severe thunderstorms do drop hail in Harris County. If you want extra margin, ask about Class 4 impact resistant shingles. Several Texas insurers offer a premium credit for a Class 4 roof, so ask your own carrier what discount it applies before you decide.
Who issues the roofing permit for my job?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting is handled city by city. A Pasadena job goes through the City of Pasadena, a Deer Park job through the City of Deer Park, and unincorporated addresses through Harris County. Confirm in writing who is pulling the permit and that it is pulled in the contractor's name.
What do the GAF and Owens Corning credentials actually get me?
They unlock stronger manufacturer warranties and mean the contractor met that manufacturer's requirements. GAF's directory lists Upscale Roofing at the GAF Certified level, which allows the System Plus limited warranty. Owens Corning lists it as a Preferred Contractor. Ask for the specific warranty document in writing before you sign, since coverage varies sharply by tier and by which components of the system are installed.
How does the insurance claim process work on a storm damage roof?
The contractor inspects, documents the damage, and works with your adjuster on scope and pricing. You pay your deductible. Under Texas law a contractor may not waive, rebate or absorb your insurance deductible, and any offer to do so is a red flag. Get the carrier's scope of loss and compare it line by line against the contractor's proposal.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Harris County?
Ask for certificates of insurance sent directly from the insurer, the permit plan, a written scope naming shingle line, underlayment, ventilation and flashing details, the separate workmanship and manufacturer warranty terms, the payment schedule tied to milestones rather than a large deposit, and how tear off debris and nails will be cleaned up. Get the start and completion window in writing.
