About

Texas Built Roofing works out of 911 E Johnson Street in Waco, in McLennan County, and covers the Central Texas corridor between the Brazos bottom and the I-35 belt. Its published service area runs through the Waco suburbs of Hewitt, Woodway, Robinson, Bellmead, Lorena and China Spring, out to McGregor, Crawford, Valley Mills, Clifton, West, Elm Mott, Axtell, Gholson, Riesel and Chilton, and further along the corridor to Temple, Belton, Killeen, Harker Heights, Gatesville, Hillsboro, Mexia, Georgetown, Marble Falls and Austin. The BBB profile records the business as started and incorporated in September 2005, under the alternate name Bauman Construction Services LLC. The work spans residential and commercial. The company installs and repairs asphalt shingles, specialty shingles, tile, metal, single ply systems and roof coatings, which is a broader material range than most Waco area residential roofers carry, and single ply and coatings point to genuine commercial and light industrial capability rather than a residential firm bolting on a flat roof line. Roof inspections, repairs, full replacement and insurance claim assistance round it out, and the company states it does not request payment until the project is finished. Credentials check out on the manufacturer's own system. CertainTeed's contractor directory carries a profile for Texas Built Roofing showing ShingleMaster PRO credentialing since 2018. The company's own website describes this as SELECT ShingleMaster, a higher CertainTeed tier, so the site's wording runs ahead of what CertainTeed's directory shows. The company is BBB accredited, accredited since June 2018, and holds the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential rather than plain membership. It also lists membership of the Central Texas Roofing Contractors Association and the McGregor and Hewitt chambers of commerce.

Highlights

Holds RCAT's earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential rather than dues only membership, which is the harder of the two RCAT statuses to obtain.
CertainTeed credentialing is confirmed on CertainTeed's own contractor profile, dating to 2018, rather than only claimed on the company website.
Carries single ply membrane and roof coating capability alongside shingles, so it can handle Central Texas commercial and light industrial flat roofs as well as houses.
BBB accredited since June 2018 with an A+ rating, working from a fixed Waco commercial address on East Johnson Street.
States that no payment is requested until the project is complete, and advertises up to 100 percent financing.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0638 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I loved the way Texas Built Roofing took care of not only my roof and all the damage but also watched out for me and the property as If it were their own! I loved the workmanship and the house has absolutely tuned out beautiful! Jonathan and Samuel was very courteous and knowledgeable and kept me informed on the progress. Gary was always there and made sure everything ran smoothly! Thanks again Texas Built Roofing and I would recommend anyone to them!

I highly recommend Texas Built Roofing. They went above and beyond throughout every stage of the process of getting a new roof. We have two buildings on our property. One has a newer roof and one had an old roof that needed to be replaced. Texas Built Roofing took great care to match the look of the shingles. They offered a much better impact resistant shingle, longer workmanship warranty, for less money, than a local competitor. They answered each and every question quickly and clearly. They were careful to not damage shrubs and did a great job on cleanup. It was a great experience.

We were referred to Texas Built Roofing by a friend and were impressed with their service. Leslie Mason was very responsive and communicated every step of the way. She was willing to answer all of the questions I had and made it a breeze to work with insurance on our roof replacement. It did take a bit longer than expected to get the roof replaced (thanks to TX storms and COVID-related material shortages), but once the materials were delivered, the crew worked hard from sunrise to sunset. They made sure our yard was clear of debris when the job was complete. We've had no issues since June and would be happy to recommend Texas Built to our friends and family!

real honest company, owner came out to discuss our hail damage (gotta respect that) told us the honest truth that it dosnt seem like we need a new roof. Commendable honesty.

This company has earned our full trust and that’s not easy with us. They are competent, honest, fast, and were very thorough on our project while being eager to save us money. Communication is excellent. Jonathan is fantastic! Samuel and Lee were both out making sure things were right, and Ricky and the crew fixed our persistent leak. We won’t be calling anyone else in the future. We even waited for several heavy rains before leaving this review, so please know from our experience how great this company is. They’re a treasure!

Frequently asked

Is Texas Built Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing licence, so nobody is. What the company does hold is RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which is a trade association qualification earned by examination rather than a government licence. Alongside that, ask for insurance certificates sent directly by the insurer and check any manufacturer certification on the manufacturer's own directory.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
Plain RCAT membership means a company pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is separately earned by examination and is the stronger of the two. Texas Built Roofing's RCAT record shows the licensed credential with a Commercial and Residential Roofing License number, not just membership. Plenty of contractors describe both as "RCAT", so ask which one you are being shown.
Does Waco really get that much hail?
Yes. McLennan County sits in the Central Texas stretch of what the insurance industry calls Hail Alley, and the corridor from Waco up through Hillsboro and down through Temple and Belton takes damaging hail most spring seasons, often with the same storm systems that produce tornadoes. Hail, not hurricane wind, is the dominant roofing risk in this county, and it is the reason Central Texas roofs are replaced more often than the shingle's nominal life would suggest.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth paying for in McLennan County?
For most Waco area homes, this is the single upgrade worth pricing. Class 4 shingles are rated under UL 2218 and tested against a two inch steel ball dropped from twenty feet. Major Texas carriers including State Farm, Allstate, Farmers and USAA commonly offer a premium discount of roughly fifteen to thirty percent for a Class 4 roof. In a county that gets hit as often as this one, the discount plus the reduced chance of a claim frequently outruns the upgrade cost. Get the exact discount from your own carrier in writing before deciding.
Do I need windstorm certification for a roof in Waco?
No. WPI-8 certificates and Texas Windstorm Insurance Association coverage apply only to the fourteen first tier counties along the Gulf Coast. McLennan County is inland Central Texas and is nowhere near that programme. Any Waco quote that includes windstorm certification is quoting something you do not need.
Who issues roofing permits around Waco?
Texas has no statewide residential building code enforcement, so it is decided municipality by municipality. Requirements differ between the City of Waco and the surrounding towns of Hewitt, Woodway, Robinson, Bellmead, Lorena and McGregor, and again for unincorporated McLennan County. Confirm in writing who pulls the permit for your specific address and who schedules any inspection.
What CertainTeed credential does the company actually hold?
CertainTeed's own contractor profile for Texas Built Roofing shows ShingleMaster PRO, credentialed since 2018. The company's website describes this as SELECT ShingleMaster, which is a higher CertainTeed tier. Both are real CertainTeed credentials, but they are not the same, and the manufacturer's own record is the one to go by. Ask the contractor to confirm the tier before relying on a specific CertainTeed warranty.
How does a Central Texas hail claim usually run?
You report the loss to your carrier, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues a scope and pays replacement cost less depreciation and your deductible, with the recoverable depreciation released once the work is complete and invoiced. Texas law bars a roofing contractor from acting as your public insurance adjuster on a job it is also contracted to repair, and it is not lawful for a contractor to waive or absorb your deductible. Be wary of anyone offering to.
Should I use a storm chaser after a big Waco hail event?
Central Texas hail events draw out of state crews within days. The risk is not that they cannot install a roof, it is that they will not be in the county in three years when a flashing detail fails. Look for a fixed local address, a BBB record with some history behind it, RCAT standing you can look up, and a manufacturer certification you can confirm on the manufacturer's own site. Texas Built Roofing has a Waco street address and a BBB accreditation dating to 2018.
What should be written into a Central Texas roofing contract?
The exact shingle line, colour and impact rating, the underlayment, the ice and water or valley detail, flashing and ventilation work, decking replacement rate per sheet, debris removal and magnetic nail sweep, the workmanship warranty term and who backs it, permit responsibility, and the total price as a number rather than "insurance proceeds". Texas Built Roofing states it does not request payment until the project is complete, which is a reasonable standard to hold any bidder to.
