About

Stiller Roofing & Remodeling is a family run roofing and remodeling company working out of 3502 N Hwy 77 in Waxahachie, the Ellis County seat about thirty miles south of downtown Dallas. The Better Business Bureau lists Mike Stiller as president and Alison R Stiller as secretary and director, records the business as started in 2009 with the current entity incorporated locally in October 2013, and shows the company as BBB Accredited since 14 October 2014 with an A+ rating. RCAT lists Mike Stiller as the contact and the company as a member since 2021. The work splits cleanly into four roofing lines plus one accessory: residential roof repair, residential roof replacement, commercial roof repair, commercial roof replacement and gutter guard installation. On the materials side the site describes composition shingles offered in 30, 40 and 50 year grades, metal roofing, Spanish style tile, and flat or low slope systems for commercial buildings where standing water is the main concern. The company offers free inspections and notes that some roofing systems qualify for insurance premium discounts. Its pitch is craftsmanship rather than volume, with a stated emphasis on detail on every job. Ellis County sits at the southern end of the North Texas hail corridor, and the surrounding Dallas Fort Worth market is one of the most hail claim heavy in the United States. That is the context most Waxahachie roof replacements happen in. UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistant shingles are the standard upgrade here, and most Texas carriers discount premiums for them, which lines up with the company's own note about qualifying systems. Texas has no state roofing license, so an Ellis County homeowner's real checks are proof of current liability and workers compensation insurance, RCAT status, BBB record and local references.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Mr. Stiller replaced the entire roof and gutters on our house. He met the insurance adjuster at the house and made the entire process seem less. I would definitely recommend Stiller Roofing. I even recommended him for my parents house as well.

Zane was honest, professional, clear, helpful, and on time as communicated. Our roof had shingles flying up, visible from the street. Zane came out the next day after we reached out and personally inspected the roof. He took pictures and explained what was causing the issues and how to best resolve it. Rather than urging us to file an insurance claim or spend thousands on a new roof, he gave his honest professional opinion that our roof needs some slight repair but not extensive replacement. Further, he gave me the name of the color of our shingles so we knew what to look for and placed some weatherproofing on the most vulnerable spaces to ensure we will be water tight through the spring storms over the next few days/weeks until we can get the repairs completed. From his professional approach, honest feedback, and clear communication I can definitely say that we have found our roofing expert for life! I appreciate the service and will refer Zane and his company for any and all roofing needs.

Michael Stiller is very professional and makes sure the job is done right! His crew are all very hard workers with years of experience. They corrected issues we had with our venting area on the roof that the old roofing company screwed up on. We now have a cooler attic! His crew did a beautiful job putting on our new roof! They do a great job cleaning up after themselves. You can't go wrong hiring this company. Quality work! Thank you for my beautiful black roof.

Mike and Jason were great to work with. My insurance company originally offered me $5k to fix my roof, gutters and water damage inside the house. Mike and Jason met with a second adjuster and walked the roof and property with them. I ended up with enough money to fix everything. On top of that my roof, gutters and inside look amazing. Great company great people. I highly recommend them.

Stiller and his crew were wonderful! They were extremely efficient and did a fabulous job. They actually left my house cleaner than before the roof was replaced! Exceptionally wonderful! We received several quotes for our work, and they were by far the most reasonable price. I will hire them again for sure, and I recommend them all the time! Use Stiller Roofing!!

Frequently asked

Is Stiller Roofing & Remodeling an RCAT Member or an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Member. The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas lists the company as a member since 2021 with Mike Stiller as the contact. Plain membership means dues are paid and the company is in the directory. It is not the same as the separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL), and this listing does not claim that credential.
Does Texas license roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no state roofing license and no state roofing board. Anyone telling you they are state licensed to roof in Texas is either confused or misleading you. Your real checks are current general liability and workers compensation certificates, RCAT status, the BBB record, city or county registration where it is required, and local references you actually call.
What roofing materials does the company install?
Its services pages describe composition asphalt shingles in 30, 40 and 50 year grades with a range of colours and profiles, metal roofing, Spanish style tile, and flat or low slope commercial systems built to handle water pooling. Ask for the specific manufacturer and product line in writing on your proposal.
Should I buy impact resistant shingles in Ellis County?
It is worth pricing. Ellis County and the wider Dallas Fort Worth area sit in one of the most hail claim heavy regions in the country. UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistant shingles are the standard defence, and most Texas carriers offer a premium discount for them. The company itself notes that some roofing systems qualify for an insurance discount, so ask which products qualify and confirm the discount with your insurer in writing.
How often should a commercial flat roof in North Texas be inspected?
Twice a year is the usual guidance, plus after any significant hail or wind event. Flat and low slope roofs fail slowly at seams, flashings and drains, and standing water accelerates it. Stiller's commercial pages address exactly this pooling problem, and the company offers free inspections.
Can a new roof go over the old one?
Sometimes it is physically possible and it is almost never a good idea. An overlay hides rotten decking, adds weight, shortens the life of the new shingles because they run hotter, and can complicate a future insurance claim. Many North Texas jurisdictions restrict layers. Ask whether your quote is a tear off to deck and what decking replacement costs per sheet if rot is found.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement in Waxahachie?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so it is decided locally. The City of Waxahachie, neighbouring Ellis County towns like Midlothian, Ennis and Red Oak, and unincorporated Ellis County all set their own permitting and contractor registration rules. Ask who pulls the permit and confirm with the city or county office for your exact address.
Is the company BBB Accredited?
Yes. The BBB profile shows accreditation since 14 October 2014 with an A+ rating, lists a business start date of 1 January 2009 with local incorporation on 1 October 2013, and names Mike Stiller as president.
Are gutter guards worth it in North Texas?
It depends on your tree cover. Gutter guards reduce cleaning frequency and help prevent overflow that dumps water against the foundation, which matters on the expansive clay soils common across Ellis County. They are not maintenance free and they add cost per linear foot. Stiller installs them and covers effectiveness and cost on its FAQ page.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Ellis County?
Get the tear off scope, the manufacturer and product line by name, the impact and wind rating, underlayment and flashing details, ventilation changes, decking replacement pricing, the workmanship warranty length and who honours it, the payment schedule and a certificate of insurance you can verify by phoning the agent. Never pay in full up front, and treat any offer to cover your deductible as a warning sign.
