About

Roofing Technologies Unlimited, known locally as RTU, is a Katy based roofing, gutter and solar contractor at 25140 Kingsland Blvd. The company was founded in 2022 by brothers Joshua and Michael Keith, both Katy natives, and it trades as Roofing Technologies Unlimited under the entity MAJAK Enterprises LLC. BBB also records Unlimited Solar LLC as an alternate business name. The work splits into three lines. Roofing covers inspection, repair, replacement, new installation, maintenance, emergency call outs and historical roof restoration. Gutters cover installation, repair, replacement and cleaning. The solar side covers system design, panel installation and repair, inverter work and battery storage, backed by Texas electrical credentials TECL #31888 and TMEL #51954. Those are electrical licences, not roofing licences, because Texas issues no statewide roofing licence. Coverage is neighborhood level across west Houston, with the company naming Fort Bend, Harris and Waller counties and dozens of Katy area communities including Cinco Ranch neighborhoods, Falcon Point, Grayson Lakes, Katy Mills, Woodcreek Reserve and Firethorne, plus Fulshear, Richmond, Sugar Land and Brookshire. Roofing Technologies Unlimited has been a BBB Accredited Business since February 2024 with an A+ rating, and the Katy Area EDC reports that co founder Joshua Keith sits on the board of the Houston Area Roofing Contractors Association.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Chris was an exceptional representative, providing excellent customer service and being highly attentive throughout the entire process. Every person I encountered was incredibly helpful and informative, guiding me through the next steps with ease. Despite the hail damage, they promptly replaced the entire roof and accommodated me within a week’s notice, which is almost unheard of after a storm. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they also service the Pearland area, and I’m grateful for their service. I highly recommend them!

Our salesman, Andrew Garay, and his crew, did a great job with our roof replacement. We have know Andrew for many years from our association with our children’s school, Faith West Academy. Coach Garay spent many years helping young people mature. We highly recommend Andrew for your next roofing project.

Selecting Roofing Technologies Unlimited for a roof repair in my home was an excellent decision. We found them Chat GPT when searching for a reputable roofing company that had favorable reviews. They recently completed the repairs and I want to recommend them as a company that not only does excellent work, but also as a company of great people of integrity. When Joshua came over to give us an estimate on the job, he immediately inspired confidence and trust that he knew what he was doing, could get the job done, and that he would do what he said. When we didn't know where to start, he took care of lining up everything that needed to be done. This was such a huge help to us. Character and trustworthiness are important to me, and I found these qualities in everyone I met in this company. Everyone was courteous and responded to all questions and requests in a timely manner. The repairs were done with professionalism and workmanship beyond my expectations. I recommend you consider them at the top of your list next time you need a new roof or any roof-related repairs.

The whole team, including Bryan, Casie, and the Owners, Michael and Josh Keith as well as the installation team, have been very thorough and professional from start to finish. They communicated regularly and in a professional manner and provided a detailed inspection and estimate from the get-go. They arrived promptly as planned and completed the roof installation in record time, including a very thorough clean-up afterwards. There were absolutely no issues with the installation, which made it a stress-free and positive experience. We appreciate their honest and great work ethic and the pleasant interaction with all the team members. I consider it a bonus that one of the owners, Josh, were present throughout the installation process to oversee everything and answer all questions. The roof looks excellent and is a great upgrade after dealing with roof damage from Hurricane Beryl. They are a First Class Company and I have already recommended them to a friend. So glad we chose them! Thank you to Roofing Technologies!

Worked with them in February on replacing a roof that was losing granules and had a couple spots binding up showing signs it need replaced in the next year. Were able to work with them on pricing to match comparable quotes. Were quick to mobilize once I wrote a check. Install took less than a day, covered yard well (only have found one or two nails in the driveway by where the disposal trailer was) Repaired/re-caulked a couple spots inside without even asking (one was a stray nail shoot into drywall ceiling and others were probably cosmetic prior from settling). Followed back up with any concerns, made sure malarkey warranty paperwork was completed and delivered.

Frequently asked

Is rtuhtx.com the same company as Roofing Technologies Unlimited?
Yes. RTU stands for Roofing Technologies Unlimited and HTX is shorthand for Houston. The rtuhtx.com address now redirects to roofingtechnologiesunlimitedtx.com, the company still uses info@rtuhtx.com for email, and its Instagram handle is rtuhtx. The public brand is Roofing Technologies Unlimited, commonly shortened to RTU.
Is Roofing Technologies Unlimited licensed?
Texas issues no statewide roofing licence, so no Katy roofer can be state licensed for roofing. This company is an RCAT Member and a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating. It also holds genuine Texas electrical credentials, TECL #31888 and TMEL #51954, which apply to its solar and battery work rather than to roofing.
What does RCAT Member mean, and is it the same as RCAT Licensed?
No. RCAT Member means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and pays dues. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is a separate designation earned through the association's own testing and requirements. Roofing Technologies Unlimited is listed as a Member.
Which counties does the company cover?
The company names Fort Bend, Harris and Waller counties, with Katy as its home base. Katy itself straddles more than one county line, so its coverage naturally spans all three. It also lists Fulshear, Richmond, Sugar Land, Brookshire and the wider west Houston area.
Does it do solar as well as roofing?
Yes. Solar system design, panel installation, panel repair, inverter replacement and battery installation are all listed, and BBB records Unlimited Solar LLC as an alternate business name. Pairing a solar install with a roof replacement avoids paying twice to remove and reset panels later.
What is historical roof restoration?
It is roofing work on older or architecturally significant buildings where the goal is to keep the original look while making the roof watertight again. The company lists it as a distinct service, separate from a standard replacement.
Do I need a permit for a reroof in the Katy area?
It depends on which jurisdiction you are in, because Texas has no statewide residential building code. The City of Katy, unincorporated Harris County, unincorporated Fort Bend County and Waller County each set their own rules. Ask the contractor in writing who pulls the permit and confirm the answer with your city or county before the tear off.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it here?
West Houston sees hail less often than the North Texas hail belt, but many Texas insurers still discount premiums for a UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistant roof. Ask your carrier what the discount is worth on your policy, then ask for the Class 4 option priced next to the standard shingle.
How do I check a roofer's insurance before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance naming you as certificate holder, showing general liability limits and, if there are employees, workers compensation. Texas does not mandate workers compensation, so confirm rather than assume. Then call the agent on the certificate and check the policy is live for your job dates.
What should a Katy homeowner ask before signing a roofing contract?
Get the shingle or system brand and line in writing, plus underlayment, flashing, ventilation and decking allowance. Ask what the manufacturer warranty covers versus the workmanship warranty and how long each runs. Confirm insurance, permits, cleanup and change order handling. Avoid large up front deposits and never sign a contract that assigns your insurance proceeds to the contractor.
