About

Pintail Demolition & Construction is not primarily a roofing company. It is a property restoration and reconstruction contractor in Cypress, Harris County, and it now trades publicly as Pintail Restoration at pintailinc.com. The headline offer is emergency response after water, fire, mould and storm damage, followed by the rebuild. BBB categorises the business as Fire and Water Damage Restoration and General Contractor, not as a roofing contractor. Roofing is a genuine but secondary service line inside that restoration work. The company lists roofing among its services and holds a Texas roofing contractor credential, and its storm damage page describes emergency tarping, roof leak repair and roof work carried out as part of a wider reconstruction scope. What it does not present is a standalone residential re-roofing business with published shingle brands, roof system options or manufacturer certifications. If you want a straightforward roof replacement quote, this is a restoration general contractor that can do roof work, rather than a dedicated roofer. The company was founded in 2015 by John Holt and Clint Pyle, both from a restoration background. BBB records give a start date of 6 August 2015, and the RCAT listing gives 16 August 2015. It has been a BBB Accredited Business since 22 June 2018 and holds an A+ rating. The company states IICRC Certified Firm status (226950), a Texas licensed mould contractor credential, EPA Lead-Safe certification and a licensed roofing contractor credential. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week from 18618 Fern St in Cypress.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0661 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I had a great experience with Pintail Restoration. They helped remediate some mold in my daughter’s closet and did an outstanding job. Their communication throughout the process was clear and professional, and the team was punctual and thorough. This is the second time we have used Pintail (the first was due to water damage which turned into a large remodel project). It’s reassuring to work with a company that truly cares about quality and customer satisfaction. I’d definitely recommend Pintail Restoration to anyone who needs reliable, high-quality restoration work.

Pintail was very professional and understanding with my water damage, they gave me options, and they explained how they would be working on the damage very efficiently. I would definitely recommend giving them a call for any water damages that occur to your houses. The demo guys were very nice, and their project manager Tony, was very nice and helpful, wonderful customer service from him. I would 100% recommend working with this company. They did an amazing job.

Stephanie has been an outstanding support during our difficult times due to an incident. Pintail’s choice of contractors has been a prime reason for our house to look like if nothing had happened. I would highly recommend the team for a great job, including dealing directly with our insurance.

I had water damaged in my house due to a broken pipe that hasn’t been able to be repaired for at least 2 weeks. I was told that Pintail provided water damage repairs and remodeling for water damages done to the house. And that’s exactly what they did. Not only did they fix the water damage, they provided me with fast service and also kept very good communication regarding the process and how the water damages would be repaired. The young man named Tony, was extremely helpful, he let me and my wife know what had to be repaired and why they had to repair it. He was very professional and communicative with us, we are very happy with his customer service. The price for the damages and the remodeling was a great price for all the water damage. If you’re looking for someone to remodel and water damaged related problems you have in your home, I HIGHLY suggest getting in contact with Pintail. I will 100% recommend everyone I know to Pintail for any water damages that need remodeling or repairs.

The Pintail Team has helped us out of several water/mold situations as well as served as General Contractor for a major home repair, due to water damage. John is a knowledgeable, reliable, honest, & trustworthy individual & has both the equipment and sub contacts to achieve the objectives with excellent results. Very important is projects are completed on schedule! And within cost estimate parameters. Highly recommend. Grateful to have such a reputable contact in case help is needed.

Frequently asked

Is this actually a roofing company?
Not primarily. Pintail Demolition & Construction, which brands itself online as Pintail Restoration, is a water, fire, mould and storm damage restoration and reconstruction contractor. BBB lists it under fire and water damage restoration and general contractor. Roofing is listed among its services and it holds a roofing contractor credential, but the public offer is restoration first and roof work as part of that scope.
So when would I call them about a roof?
Realistically after a storm or a leak that has already caused interior damage. That is where a restoration contractor is strongest, because they can tarp the roof, dry the structure, remediate any mould, repair or replace the roof and then rebuild the ceilings, drywall and finishes under one contract. For a routine end of life roof replacement with no interior damage, a dedicated roofing contractor may give you more shingle options and manufacturer warranty choices.
Does Texas issue a state roofing licence?
No. There is no state roofing licence in Texas, so nobody in Cypress or Harris County can be state licensed to roof. The credential that exists is the voluntary Licensed Roofing Contractor designation from the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, plus any city or county registration required for the permit. Mould remediation, by contrast, is separately regulated in Texas.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Membership means the company pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL) is earned separately through testing and continuing education. The RCAT directory record for this company shows a residential roofing licence, which is the earned credential rather than membership alone.
What does IICRC Certified Firm mean?
The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification sets the widely used standards for water damage and mould restoration work. A Certified Firm designation means the company has registered with IICRC, carries insurance and employs certified technicians. The company states IICRC Certified Firm status on its own site.
Does hail matter in Harris County?
Less than in North and Central Texas, but it still happens. The bigger roofing risks around Cypress and Houston are wind driven rain, tropical storm and hurricane remnant wind, and long periods of heat and humidity that age asphalt shingles and open up flashing details. Wind and water intrusion drive more claims here than hail does.
Should I get emergency tarping before an adjuster sees the roof?
Yes. Most Texas policies require you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, and tarping is that step. Photograph the damage thoroughly before and after the tarp goes on, keep receipts, and report the claim to your insurer yourself. Do not let anyone remove evidence of the original damage before it is documented.
Who handles the insurance claim, me or the contractor?
You do. A contractor can meet the adjuster and supply a written scope and photographs, but in Texas a roofing or restoration contractor must not act as your public adjuster or negotiate the claim for you. Offers to waive or absorb your deductible are also not lawful in Texas and are a reason to walk away.
Do I need a permit for roof or rebuild work in Cypress?
It depends on jurisdiction. Cypress is unincorporated Harris County rather than a city, so permitting and inspection rules follow Harris County rather than a city building department, and Texas has no statewide code enforcement. Ask your contractor which permits apply to your specific scope and confirm they are pulled in the contractor's name.
What should I ask a restoration contractor before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance issued directly by their agent, the written scope broken into mitigation, remediation and rebuild phases, who is responsible for the mould clearance testing, the drying documentation you will receive, the workmanship warranty on any roof work, and the payment schedule tied to milestones. Read any assignment of benefits clause carefully before you sign it.
