About

Meis Roofing & Construction is a Texas roofing contractor that lists a Houston address at 9801 Westheimer Rd, Suite 300, in the Westchase district. The company's BBB headquarters record is in Fort Worth at 4617 Diaz Ave, where it has been BBB Accredited with an A+ rating since April 2010 and where the owner is listed as Clayton Meis. The company says on its own site that it was founded in 2009. Houston is the one market with a separate BBB profile, accredited since January 2016, but that profile carries a different Houston address (5851 San Felipe St Ste 230B) from the one published on the company's website, and it links back to a Fort Worth headquarters. Both Houston addresses sit in serviced office towers that sell virtual office and mail handling plans, so neither reads as a dedicated roofing facility. A local 832 number and Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm hours are published for the Houston market. Work offered covers commercial, industrial and residential roofing: repair, replacement, maintenance, coatings, leak detection with thermal imaging, and roof inspections tied to insurance claims. Houston roofs deal with wind, driving rain and tropical remnants rather than the hail volume of North Texas, and Harris County is not in the TWIA first-tier windstorm territory.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Meis roofing did an outstanding job! Jamie was FANTASTIC to work with, he explained everything on our roof replacement and installation of (5) new attic vents. Anytime I had a question he would respond promptly to my text. The crew that installed our roof was as professional and thoughtful as Jamie. The price was fair especially for the quality of work and professionalism. Call Jamie if you need a roof or roof repair!

As a construction project manager finding a reliable and quality roofing company it’s one of the most critical things until I met Jaime from Meis! They have been nothing but top notch in getting all of our roofing needs done!

Meis Roofing did a wonderful job for my house roof/shingle replacement. Jamie was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, explaining to me the entire process, and working directly with my insurance company to make sure I only paid my deductible. The new roof is beautiful. Jaime came by several times with samples, so we got the color we wanted. The crew knocked out the roof in a day. Great crew, cleaned up extremely well, and even did my neighbor's yard for the few pieces that fell over the fence. Having a crew that worked with my insurance company provided great value.

If you ever need roofing help, JD and Rick are your go-to guys! These two are incredibly helpful and always get the job done right. Their company is hands-down one of the best out there. We've been working with them on several projects across Texas, and they’ve been absolutely crushing it. Reliable, professional, and just great to work with—I can’t recommend them enough!

We are working with JD and Rick on five of our commercial properties, and they've been amazing every step of the way! They're super responsive—always pick up the phone and keep us in the loop with updates. Their work is top-quality, and they really take pride in what they do. It's been a smooth experience every time. Highly recommend!!

Frequently asked

Does Meis Roofing have a real office in Houston?
The company publishes 9801 Westheimer Rd Suite 300 with an 832 number, while its Houston BBB profile lists a different address at 5851 San Felipe St Ste 230B. Both are serviced office buildings that sell virtual office and mail handling plans, and the Houston BBB profile links to a Fort Worth headquarters. Ask where the crew, materials and estimator actually dispatch from.
Is Meis Roofing state-licensed in Texas?
No roofer is. Texas does not issue a statewide roofing licence. The meaningful checks are current general liability and workers compensation insurance, any city registration your job requires, and voluntary industry credentials such as RCAT.
What does RCAT Member mean, and is it the same as licensed?
No. RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. A Member pays dues and belongs to the association. RCAT separately awards an earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL, CRL) that requires testing. Meis Roofing is recorded here as a Member, which is association membership, not a government or RCAT licence.
How do I verify a Houston roofer's insurance myself?
Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers compensation, then call the agent named on that certificate and confirm the policy is active and covers roofing work. Verify with the insurer, not with the contractor.
Does Harris County need a WPI-8 windstorm certificate?
No. WPI-8 certificates apply to the 14 first-tier Gulf Coast counties inside the TWIA territory. Harris County is not first-tier, so a Houston roof does not need WPI-8. If your property is in Galveston County or another coastal first-tier county, that is where WPI-8 becomes relevant.
Who issues the roofing permit in Houston?
Texas has no statewide building code enforcement, so permitting is set locally. In the City of Houston, roofing permits go through the city's permitting office, and surrounding jurisdictions such as Sugar Land, Katy and Pearland each set their own rules. Confirm who is pulling the permit before work starts.
Are impact-resistant shingles useful in Houston?
Houston sees less hail than North Texas but does get wind-driven storms and tropical remnants. Class 4 impact-rated shingles help in hail and often earn a carrier premium discount, but wind rating and correct nailing pattern matter more on the Gulf Coast side. Ask your carrier what discount, if any, applies to your policy.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Get the scope in writing with the manufacturer and product named, the workmanship warranty term, the payment schedule, who pulls the permit, and how insurance supplements are handled. Be cautious about signing anything that authorizes work before your claim is settled.
What roofing materials does Meis Roofing work with?
Its site lists asphalt shingles, standing seam metal, stone-coated steel, slate, concrete and clay tile on steep-slope roofs, plus TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, built-up and spray foam systems on low-slope commercial roofs.
Does the company handle insurance claims?
Its site describes roof inspections, thermal imaging leak detection and insurance claim estimates, and lists Haag Certified inspectors. A contractor can document damage and meet the adjuster, but the claim decision belongs to the insurer.
