Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0474 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I had an excellent experience working with Josh and the team at JWC Contracting for my new roof installation. From start to finish, Josh was professional, responsive, and easy to work with. He took the time to explain the process, answer all my questions, and kept me informed every step of the way. The crew showed up on time, worked efficiently, and did a fantastic job. The quality of the workmanship on the new roof was very high, and they made sure everything was cleaned up thoroughly when the job was finished. It’s hard to find contractors who combine great communication, honesty, and quality work, but Josh and JWC Contracting delivered on all three. I highly recommend Josh and JWC Contracting to anyone looking for roofing work. Great service, great results, and a company that truly takes pride in what they do.

I have been fortunate enough to have worked with many good vendors in ALL industries, but the one who stands out at the top is JWC General Contractors. They were referred to me by a handyman I didn't really know and I took a chance. I was having an issue getting my insurance company to pay a claim on my roof. JWC helped me in so many ways from referring me to a Public Adjuster (who was also excellent) to providing honest, attentive service. Today, Josh (my JWC guy) came over to get the final check from the insurance company. And while he was here, he noticed a clop had come undone on my American flag hanging over the garage. He got his ladder and fixed it right then! That is above and beyond great service! Btw, they did 2 other small jobs while waiting for the insurance company claim to be approved. They repaired the eves where squirrels were enjoying free access to my attic. A great job at a fair price. I also had some water damage in my garage ceiling that had been that way for 10 years! No one else would touch it. But their guys came in and did an incredible job. I've been working with Josh since October 2025. He is professional, personable and I would consider him a friend. I highly recommend JWC for whatever project you have.

We are so grateful we connected with this company. The representative Christopher Baccus who came out was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made the entire experience easy and stress-free. You can tell he truly cares about his work and his customers. Based on this experience alone, this is the ONLY company we would consider if we ever need a full roof replacement or any other construction needs. Highly recommend them for their honesty, professionalism, and excellent service.

I cannot recommend JWC General Contractors enough! Before finding them, I had my roof claim denied a couple of times by my insurance company while working with other contractors. I was starting to think it wouldn’t happen, but Alex Murray stepped in and completely turned everything around. He is an absolute master at what he does—he took my claim from zero to hero, handled the entire insurance process seamlessly, and actually got it approved. Not only are they insurance claim experts, but the actual roof replacement was fantastic. They did a high-quality job, worked efficiently, and left everything clean. If you are struggling with a difficult insurance claim, look no further than JWC and ask for Alex!

Josh Snowden at JWC Is Amazing! He made the process of replacing our roof as easy as it can be! He took over the whole process of dealing with the insurance and was in contact with us the whole way. I would highly recommend Josh and JWC to anyone who is looking to get their roof replaced

Frequently asked

Is JWC General Contractors licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofer is. Texas does not issue a state roofing licence. What can be checked is insurance, RCAT standing and any city registration. JWC is recorded by RCAT as a Licensed Roofing Contractor, which is RCAT's own earned credential rather than a government licence.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
An RCAT Member simply pays association dues. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through RCAT's own testing and requirements. They are not equivalent, and JWC is recorded at the Licensed level.
What is a HAAG certified inspector?
HAAG Engineering runs a certification for inspectors who assess storm damage to roofs. The company says it has a HAAG certified inspector for commercial roof systems. It matters most on insurance claims, where the damage report has to stand up to an adjuster's review.
What does insurance supplementation mean?
It means the contractor goes back to the insurer with documentation for work or code items the original scope missed, and asks for the claim to be adjusted upward. In Texas a roofer cannot act as your public adjuster, so read carefully what the contract says the company will and will not do on your behalf.
Which commercial roof systems does JWC install?
Its listings name TPO and PVC single ply membranes and modified bitumen for low slope roofs, plus metal. For steep slope work it lists composition shingles, slate and tile.
Does the company work outside Dallas-Fort Worth?
Yes. It runs a DFW office in Southlake and a second office in Austin, and describes serving both DFW and Austin.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth paying for around Southlake?
Tarrant County sits in the North Texas hail belt, and Class 4 impact-rated shingles are tested to take hail strikes better than standard products. Many Texas insurers offer a premium credit for a Class 4 roof, so ask your carrier what discount applies before you pick a product.
Do I need a permit for a roof replacement?
Texas has no statewide residential code enforcement, so it varies. Southlake and each neighbouring city set their own permit and inspection requirements. Ask the contractor to confirm in writing that it will pull the permit for your address.
How do I verify a contractor's insurance?
Request a certificate of insurance for general liability and workers compensation, then call the agent named on the certificate to confirm the policy is in force for the dates of your job. A commercial roof job in particular should never start without confirmed workers compensation cover.
What should I ask before signing?
Get the full scope and price in writing rather than an open ended insurance proceeds agreement, ask for the manufacturer warranty and the workmanship warranty separately in writing, confirm who pulls the permit, confirm insurance with the carrier, and ask which crews are employees and which are subcontracted.
