Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0470 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I went to the BBB in search of a highly rated roofing company and I really lucked out by choosing HHH Roofing! They were super fast coming to my home the next day to give me a quote and Jose knew everything there was to know about clay tile roofs. He showed me pictures of the damage immediately and I received a quote that day. Our roof was repaired a few days later for a fair price. HHH was fast, timely and professional and I would highly recommend their services.

Was getting estimates to repair the siding on one side of my home. I did a Google search to see what a fair average price was online and stumbled upon a video from HHH R&C featuring Eric going over pricing. Noticed they were in Houston and gave them a call. Eric is super nice. I sent him a few pictures of the damage via text and he gave me an estimate at half of what another contractor told me. Scheduled the work to be done and Eric with his crew came out 4 days later. Everyone was very nice to work with and they pointed out addition work that could be added on with little extra cost. Very happy I found them online after I was mad at the last contractors quote. Definitely would hire them again.

I highly recommend HHH roofing. Cindy and Eric were great at communication, quotes were quick, detailed and very competitive, the material options were great and they supported right through the process of HOA rejection, appeal and approval. They completed the roof in a day left everything very smart and even sent some cool drone pics of the project as it progressed!

I got to know HHH roofing through a youtube video as I was searching for TPO roof repair. Eric and his team are a very professional group and did a great job on our roof. Eric is very service oriented and Jose did a great job inspecting and repairing the the damaged areas. I’m extremely happy with the job done. Also, Cindy was very helpful communicating in making sure everything gets done on time.

I called to get a hole repaired for my dad and got helped by Eric. He was very nice and amazing about talking Spanish to my dad since he can’t speak a lot of English. I wasn’t there through the whole process but my dad was raving about the efficiency. Eric was great. Highly recommended.

Frequently asked

Is HHH Roofing & Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Houston-area roofer is state-licensed. The voluntary alternative is the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor program run by the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, which requires an exam and proof of insurance. HHH Roofing is listed here with RCAT Licensed status, which is a step beyond plain association membership.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
A Member simply belongs to the association and agrees to its code of ethics. A Licensed Roofing Contractor has additionally passed RCAT's licensing exam and met its insurance requirements. They are distinct credentials, and Licensed is the more demanding of the two.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance in the Houston area?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent to you directly from the insurance agent, and check the coverage amounts and dates. This matters in Texas because there is no state license to check. HHH Roofing states it carries 6 million dollars in liability coverage; asking for the certificate is the way to confirm any such claim.
Does the Spring and Houston area really get hail damage?
Yes. While North Texas is the core of Hail Alley, Harris and Montgomery counties still take damaging hail, and severe thunderstorm wind is a constant threat. Hurricane-season wind damage adds another layer of risk that inland northern suburbs like Spring share with the rest of the metro.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it around Houston?
They can be. Class 4 shingles carry the highest impact rating and many Texas insurers discount premiums for them. Given Houston-area wind and hail exposure, ask your insurance agent what discount applies and weigh it against the upgrade cost over the life of the roof.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Spring or Houston?
Permitting is set locally in Texas. Unincorporated Harris County, the City of Houston and surrounding municipalities each have their own rules, and requirements differ for residential and commercial work. Ask the contractor what applies at your address and put in writing who pulls any required permit.
What is the advantage of a roofer that does both residential and commercial work?
Commercial certification means the company is trained on low-slope systems like TPO, PVC and modified bitumen, which also show up on residential patios, additions and flat-roof sections. HHH Roofing is listed in GAF's commercial directory and installs single-ply membranes and coatings alongside shingle roofs.
When does a flat roof coating make more sense than replacement?
If a commercial or low-slope roof is structurally sound but aging or leaking at seams, a restoration coating such as silicone can add years of life at a fraction of replacement cost. If the insulation is saturated or the membrane is widely failed, replacement is usually the better spend. A roofer should inspect and give you both numbers.
How should I handle a storm damage insurance claim on my Houston-area roof?
Document the damage, get a roof inspection, then open the claim with your insurer, who sends an adjuster. A roofer can provide photos, measurements and an estimate and can meet the adjuster on site, but Texas law bars contractors from negotiating the claim for you. Emergency tarping to prevent further damage is generally covered, so keep receipts.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract in Texas?
Ask for the itemized scope with exact materials, tear-off and decking terms, the payment schedule, proof of insurance sent from the insurer, who pulls permits, warranty lengths for both materials and workmanship, and a lien waiver at completion. Be wary of any contractor asking for a large payment before materials arrive.
