About

Hartman Roofing's Amarillo office at 10206 S. Georgia serves the Texas Panhandle from the south side of Amarillo in Randall County. The branch opened in 1995 as part of the West Texas roofing company founded in San Angelo in May 1988, and it has been BBB accredited since 1998. Branch manager Jay Hedrick grew up in the Panhandle, holds a computer science degree, and also oversees the company's Clovis, New Mexico office. The company roofs an average of 1,200 homes a year across its offices, keeps permanent crews year-round, and can shift crews between its West Texas cities after a major hail storm, a real advantage in the Panhandle where hail drives most roof replacements. Each location runs its own office and warehouse with in-house sheet metal fabrication. Roofing types include composition shingles, metal, impact-resistant shingles, stone-coated steel, cedar shake, and commercial systems. The company website displays Owens Corning Platinum Contractor and GAF Master Elite badges alongside BBB and RCAT logos.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #02-0265 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

The crew at Hartman did a fantastic job installing a new patio door. They took extra care to make sure furniture and countertops were covered and then they did a very thorough job cleaning up after they were done. The installation is very solid and neat too. Excellent job. Dean Rodgers was awesome to work with too. When it comes time for us to replace our roof or have another door installed, we'll definitely be using this company. Highly recommended!!!

March 11, 2026 Austin Grissom with Hartman Roofing has years of experience and genuinely cares a great deal about his customers. He will fight for what insurance companies try to weasel out of paying on policies we have all paid exorbitant amounts to each year. I filed my legitimate USAA insurance claim in 2025 due to evident hail damage. With many denials and multiple appraisers all having the same conclusion. For almost a year, Austin never gave up. I attribute the success of my claim approval and completion all to Austin Grissom and the team at Hartman Roofing. The team of roofers were very clean, professional and respectful, even tolerating my 3 large dogs. NO remanence of nails or trash! He coordinated replacement of the roof, fence, paint and windows keeping me informed, answering and explaining any questions. As of the first week of March 2026, replacement and repairs are complete and absolutely beautiful. We all have many choices for roofing companies hopefully make the right choice to trust with our home and property. It is with great pleasure highly recommend "the expert", Austin Grissom with any roof and hail damage claims. I made the right choice with Hartman Roofing! Sincerely, Angela Pharr

My experience with Hartman Roofing and sales services from Austin Grissom was wonderful! They were helpful with decisions & took the stress out of the process. Especially impressive was the crew that took extra care to be sure all the damage was repaired. They were friendly and efficient. My husband was in the hospital for the month of December and they were so caring and kind to me. They treated me so special & Austin was just great! I highly recommend them. They are local so support this business. Very professional and personable 💜

Austin, my salesman, did an amazing job at getting a beautiful roof for my Dad’s house. Austin is a passionate person and professional going through steps of getting a new roof. Made me feel comfortable without any stress. Definitely recommend Hartman Roofing!

Our experience with Hartman Roofing was excellent. Our rep was Austin and let me tell you, he bent over backwards to help us. Austin went to battle for us against our own insurance who was failing to protect our home. Austin was able to show them just how damaged our property was. Austin was able to get our property repaired and better than it was before! On top of that, fast forward two years, we were selling our home and a few shingles showed “wear signs” in our inspection report. Austin got his crew out to my house in less than 24hrs to get us squared away to close with the buyers. I can’t give enough praise to Hartman Roofing and specifically Austin. I have and will continue to give out his information every time I hear someone needing/asking for roofing repairs.

Frequently asked

Is Hartman Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas issues no state roofing license, so no roofer has one. Judge a Panhandle roofer instead by RCAT affiliation, verified liability insurance, manufacturer credentials, and BBB history. Hartman Roofing's Amarillo office has been BBB accredited since 1998 and carries an A+ rating.
Where is the Amarillo office and who runs it?
The office is at 10206 S. Georgia, Amarillo, TX 79118, on the south side of town in Randall County. Jay Hedrick manages it; reach him at 806-372-8510 or jay@hartmanroofing.com. He also oversees the company's Clovis, New Mexico office.
Is this Amarillo office a real branch or just a listing?
A real branch. It has its own street address, warehouse, phone and fax, branch manager, BBB file, and Facebook page. It opened in 1995 as part of the Hartman Roofing company headquartered in San Angelo.
How does Hartman Roofing handle big Amarillo hail storms?
The company keeps permanent crews year-round in each of its West Texas cities and states it can move crews between offices after a storm, so an Amarillo hail event can draw crews from sister branches. That helps with the backlog that follows Panhandle hail seasons.
Are impact-resistant shingles worth it in Amarillo?
Often yes. Amarillo sits in one of the most hail-prone parts of Texas, and Class 4 impact-resistant shingles resist hail strikes better than standard laminates. Many Texas insurers give premium discounts for them, so price both options and check the discount with your insurer.
Does Hartman Roofing do metal or stone-coated steel roofs?
Yes. Its roofing types include metal, stone-coated steel, composition shingles, impact-resistant shingles, and cedar shake, plus commercial roofing.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Amarillo?
Permitting in Texas is city by city because there is no statewide building code. For property inside Amarillo city limits, the City of Amarillo building safety department handles roofing permits. Ask your contractor who pulls the permit and confirm before work starts.
Does the company handle insurance claims after hail damage?
Hail and storm work is a core part of the company's West Texas business. The sensible order: get the roof inspected, then file with your insurer if there is genuine damage, and have the contractor's written scope in hand when the adjuster visits.
What is the difference between an RCAT member and an RCAT licensed contractor?
RCAT membership means a company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is separate and must be earned through testing and vetting. Ask which applies; they are not interchangeable.
What should I ask an Amarillo roofer before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly from the insurer, the exact shingle product and underlayment in writing, who pulls the city permit, how the manufacturer warranty gets registered, recent local references, and payment terms that do not front-load large deposits.
