Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0338 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I’m a repeat customer with Graham Roofing because of their clear, timely, and accessible communication, ease of transactions, and fair pricing. These guys don’t mess around- they came right out after the storm to assess damages, worked well with my insurance company to replace my hail and wind damaged roof (for the second time), and did a beautiful job. I hope to not need another roof replacement, but I would call Graham Roofing if I did, and definitely recommend Josh, Will, and the rest of the crew for any roofing needs.

I could not have asked for a better experience than what Josh provided from day one! The day I called him, He came out to my house to begin the estimation process. As soon as I pulled the trigger on the roof replacement, he had his team on site! They were all very polite, respondent to my needs, hard working and puntual each day. The whole job took only 2 1/2 days (the 3rd day was mostly clean-up). Graham Roofing did a few additional “extra” things to make the roof “POP”, visually. I was extremely pleased with every aspect of the replacement! Thank you, Josh, for a job well done!

Graham Roofing and Construction was quick, professional, and did a great job replacing my client's roof. John was our contact and went out of his way to make sure the roof was done in a timely manner and made sure we had everything we needed for an easy sale on the home. I will definitely recommend them to other clients in need of roof work.

We recently had our roof replaced with Graham Construction and Roofing and they did a fantastic job. We figured out the product we wanted to use (a synthetic slate) and called the manufacturer for recommendations. They gave two recommendations and we interviewed them both and decided to go with Graham. Josh was great from a communication and expectations perspective and always kept us to date on the process which took some time with the insurance company. Would not hesitate to recommend Graham to anyone and very much appreciate the job they did.

Josh Graham is extremely kind and professional. He came as a recommendation from our friend, and he was nothing but helpful and prompt, and to say that he helped us in a time of need is an understatement. Absolute stand-up guy. My husband and I will definitely call him for any future roofing needs.

Frequently asked

Do Texas roofers need a state license?
No. Texas has no state roofing license, so vetting falls to the homeowner. Verify liability insurance with the insurer, check BBB history, and look for voluntary credentials such as RCAT status and manufacturer listings.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
RCAT membership means a company pays dues and follows the association's code of ethics. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is separately earned through an exam and proof of insurance. They are related but not equivalent, so ask which one a company actually holds.
Why is hail the big roofing issue in North Texas?
The DFW area sits in Hail Alley, and hailstorms are the leading cause of roof replacement in the region. Even hail that leaves no visible marks from the ground can bruise shingles, so post storm inspections matter.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles a good idea here?
Usually worth pricing. Class 4 shingles carry the highest impact rating and resist hail better, and many Texas insurers discount premiums for impact resistant roofs. Some synthetic slate and shake products also carry Class 4 ratings.
Will insurance cover a hail damaged roof, and what are the rules?
Most Texas homeowners policies cover hail and wind minus the deductible. Texas law makes it illegal for a contractor to waive, absorb, or rebate your deductible, so treat that offer as a warning sign.
Do I need a permit to reroof near Aledo or west Fort Worth?
Permitting is handled city by city and county by county in Texas. Requirements differ between the City of Fort Worth, the City of Aledo, and unincorporated county areas, so confirm with the local building office before work begins.
What are specialty roofing materials like copper and synthetic slate?
Copper, natural slate, and stone coated steel are premium long life materials, while synthetic slate and shake mimic those looks in lighter, often impact rated polymer products. They cost more than standard shingles but can last significantly longer.
Does Graham Construction and Roofing help with insurance claims?
Yes. The company advertises inspection assistance and help navigating insurance claims after storm damage. The claim itself is always between you and your insurer, and the final settlement decisions are yours.
How long does a typical roof replacement take?
Most single family asphalt shingle replacements take one to three days depending on roof size, pitch, material, and weather. Specialty materials such as slate, copper, or stone coated steel take longer.
What should I confirm before signing with any roofer?
A written scope and price, current proof of liability insurance, workmanship and manufacturer warranty terms, a payment schedule without large upfront sums, local references, and who is responsible for permits and site cleanup.
