About

Darden's Construction LLC is a family run general contractor on the Galveston County coast. BBB and its GuildQuality profile list it at 14103 Cimarron Road, Santa Fe, TX 77517 with the number (409) 256-1680, while the company's own website gives an office at 951 FM 646 Suite A27, League City, TX 77573 with the number (832) 415-6569. Both addresses are in Galveston County. BBB records show the business started on 23 February 2023 and name Raymond Darden as owner. RCAT lists the firm as a residential and commercial contractor. Roofing sits inside a wide construction offering. The site covers roofing, seamless gutters, siding, remodeling and renovations, flooring, fencing and framing, masonry, concrete, painting, and pre-engineered metal and post-frame buildings. The roofing page describes leak repair, replacement and new installation, but it does not name shingle lines, metal profiles, underlayments or manufacturers, and no GAF, Owens Corning or CertainTeed certification appears anywhere on the site. The company states more than 600 completed projects and an 82 percent insurance claim approval rate, and lists 18 Texas counties served, from the Houston and Galveston coast north to Dallas and Tarrant and west to Bexar and Travis. Those figures and that coverage are stated by the company. Santa Fe is in Galveston County, one of the 14 TWIA first tier coastal counties, so windstorm construction standards genuinely govern roofing work there. We could not find any WPI-8, windstorm certification or TWIA reference on the company's website, its BBB profile, its GuildQuality profile or its social pages, so we cannot confirm a windstorm certified capability either way. On third party standing, Darden's is not a BBB Accredited Business and BBB states it does not have enough information to issue a rating. It does maintain a GuildQuality verified customer feedback profile, and the site displays two local 2025 reader's choice placings.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Ray and his crew are amazing and I would highly recommend for any construction related job including HVAC and plumbing. He is thorough, responsive and will work hard to get it done and get it done RIGHT! (Which I feel is hard to find). Everyone on his crew is professional and very respectful, extremely knowledgeable in what they do and are down to earth and friendly. They recently took care of part of the build out for our new dance studio location. We are in an industrial warehouse that needed an abundance of work. He constructed and painted a demising wall, surrounding walls and additional rooms, completely reconfigured, repaired and moved 3 commercial HVAC units and repaired several plumbing issues. Additionally, when my teams DIY wall demo ran into issues with the ceiling, he quickly brought in his crew to correct and restructure the room and it saved that area for us. Anytime I had a question, it was answered quickly and he had no problem coming out to the site to personally ensure throughout the process the job was running smoothly and was completed in a timely manner. I will continue to use Darden Construction for all of our jobs, as it seems there's nothing Ray and his crew can't handle.

We had a great experience with Dardens Construction. They came out quickly, got the project started right away, and completed everything efficiently. We had our roof replaced and sheetrock repaired in a bathroom, and both projects turned out excellent. Raymond is extremely knowledgeable — he explained the entire process clearly and took the time to answer all of our questions. The crew was professional, efficient, and did a thorough job cleaning up afterward. We’re very happy with the results and would definitely recommend them.

Darden's Construction did a fantastic job building my outdoor kitchen. The crew is courteous, friendly and respectful of my property and time. Ray is honest and upfront about job expectations and very fair priced. I'm already thinking of other projects for them to do for me.

I had these guys build a patio cover in my backyard and the killed it. Built a beautiful cover and did it quick. The back their work up 100% and we couldn’t be happier. Just in time for the Super Bowl!

Frequently asked

Does Darden's Construction do WPI-8 or windstorm certified roofing?
We could not confirm that it does. Nothing on the company's website, BBB profile, GuildQuality profile or social pages mentions WPI-8, windstorm certification or TWIA. Because Santa Fe is in Galveston County, a first tier coastal county where this genuinely matters, ask the company directly and get the answer in writing before you sign. Treat the absence of a claim as unknown, not as a no.
What is a WPI-8 and who actually issues it?
A WPI-8 is the Certificate of Compliance for windstorm resistant construction in the Texas seacoast territory, and it is what makes a structure eligible for TWIA (Texas Windstorm Insurance Association) coverage. A roofing contractor does not issue it. The Texas Department of Insurance issues the certificate, either after inspection by a TDI appointed qualified inspector, or on submission of a WPI-8-E by a Texas licensed professional engineer who has evaluated the work. Any contractor who says they issue WPI-8 certificates is describing it wrong.
Then what is the roofer's part in it?
The roofer builds to TDI approved products and installation specifications, keeps the work open for inspection at the correct stages, and coordinates scheduling with the inspector or engineer. Getting that sequencing right is the whole game. If the roof is dried in and closed up before the inspection, the engineer route becomes the only option left and it costs more.
Which counties are the TWIA first tier coastal counties?
There are 14: Aransas, Brazoria, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Galveston, Jefferson, Kenedy, Kleberg, Matagorda, Nueces, Refugio, San Patricio and Willacy. The designated seacoast territory also includes the part of Harris County east of State Highway 146. Santa Fe and League City are both in Galveston County, so they are inside it.
Do I need a WPI-8 for a reroof?
If you want the structure insurable through TWIA, yes in most cases. Reroofs, additions and repairs above a certain scope in the seacoast territory generally need a new certificate for the work to be covered. If you already hold a TWIA policy, ask your agent what happens to it if a reroof is done without a certificate, because that answer is specific to your policy.
Is Darden's licensed by the state of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so no Texas roofer holds one. Darden's is listed in the RCAT directory. The checks worth doing are a current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance, and for coastal work, a clear answer on the WPI-8 inspection path.
What does RCAT Member mean here?
RCAT is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. Member status means the company belongs and pays dues, and RCAT lists Darden's under both residential and commercial contractor categories. It is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL), which requires examination and continuing education.
What is its BBB standing?
Darden's Construction is not a BBB Accredited Business, and BBB states it does not have sufficient information to issue a rating. That is a neutral position rather than a negative one for a company that started in February 2023, but it means BBB is not a source of assurance here. BBB does confirm the start date and names Raymond Darden as owner.
There are two addresses and two phone numbers. Which is right?
Both appear to be genuine. BBB and GuildQuality list 14103 Cimarron Road, Santa Fe, TX 77517, phone (409) 256-1680. The company's own site lists 951 FM 646 Suite A27, League City, TX 77573, phone (832) 415-6569. Both sit in Galveston County. Use the site's League City details as the current front door and confirm on the call.
What should I ask before signing for a coastal roof?
Ask for a written scope covering deck condition, fastener pattern, underlayment and edge metal to the TDI windstorm specification. Ask who schedules the WPI-8 inspection and at what stage of the job. Ask for the TDI product approval or evaluation numbers for the shingle or panel being installed. Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly by the agent. Then confirm permitting with the City of Santa Fe or Galveston County, since Texas sets this locally rather than statewide.
