Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #02-0036 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Armored Roofing just completed a roof repair for me after a major hail storm. I could not be happier with Richard and his crew. They showed up on time, did a beautiful job and cleaned up to perfection. Actually, this is the second repair they have handled for me. I highly recommend Armored Construction.

Wonderful to work with. Roof got done quickly and professionally and the roofers communicated with me in a friendly way and took care to clean up thoroughly. Will be recommending to others.

My husband and I were very impressed with Katie and her team. There were some ordering issues but Katie kept us up to date and even put in temporary vents until ours came in. She was extremely responsive, nice, and the work done was excellent. Will be using her again in the future if when we need it. Very highly recommend!

Unfortunately I cannot and will not suggest this company as a roofing resource. We support american made as well as many openly LGBTQ business as possible. This is very important to us. I contacted them early week for a quote with no response. By the end of the week I sent an email back asking for a quote by the end of day. Katie Clymer, President and Managing Partner emailed back and told us to seek elsewhere that they were all "in training" all week long. After a couple of abrupt email back and forth, noting no attempt to correct the situation and no attempt to retain or maintain a budding business relationship, we will take our LGBTQ dollars elsewhere.... The only reason they get 2 stars is due to finally communicating back... We wish them the best, and if you utilize this company, our thoughts and prayers are that you receive better customer service than we did. God Bless. Dale Blackwood.

Called Freddie 3 weeks ago about a leak and still haven't heard from him, will never use them again! It's been over a month and a half, thanks for taking my money and never calling. If I could leave no stars I would. Do yourself a favor don't use local business get real contractors from out of town!!

Frequently asked

Is Armored Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no statewide roofing license, so there is no state license number to verify. Armored Roofing's relevant credentials are its Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT) Membership, insurance coverage, and any local Wichita Falls registration.
What is the difference between RCAT Membership and RCAT Licensed status?
RCAT Membership means a company pays dues to belong to the association, while the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor (CRRL) credential is separately earned. Armored Roofing's listed status is Member, and company representative Katie Koetter-Clymer individually holds the CRRL credential; homeowners should confirm which designation applies to the company itself.
Is hail damage a major concern for Wichita Falls roofs?
Yes, Wichita Falls sits within North Texas's hail-prone corridor, and hailstorms are a leading cause of roof damage in the area. Homeowners should have their roof inspected after significant hail events.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles a good option in Wichita Falls?
Class 4 shingles resist hail impact better than standard shingles and can qualify homeowners for an insurance premium discount from many Texas carriers, making them worth discussing for a North Texas home.
Does Wichita Falls require a permit for roof replacement?
Permitting is handled by the city or county rather than the state, so homeowners should confirm requirements with the City of Wichita Falls or Wichita County before starting a roofing project.
How do I confirm a roofing contractor is insured?
Request a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers' compensation coverage, and verify it directly with the insurance company rather than relying on a printed copy.
What does GAF Gold Elite Contractor status mean?
It is a manufacturer-awarded certification indicating the contractor has met GAF's standards for training and reliability on commercial roofing systems, which can affect eligibility for extended manufacturer warranties.
What should be included in a roofing contract?
A written contract should list the scope of work, roofing system and materials, total price and payment schedule, project timeline, and both the manufacturer's material warranty and the contractor's workmanship warranty.
Will my homeowners insurance cover hail damage to my roof in North Texas?
Most Texas homeowners policies cover wind and hail damage, though deductibles and claims processes vary by carrier. An independent inspection before accepting an insurance adjuster's estimate can help ensure the full extent of damage is documented.
What should I ask a Wichita Falls roofer before hiring them?
Ask about RCAT status (Member or Licensed), proof of insurance, manufacturer certifications, warranty terms, and how long they've operated in the Wichita Falls and Texoma area.
