About

Andrus Brothers Roofing has served the Texas Panhandle from Amarillo since 1982, when Jerry and Steve Andrus started the company after working as insurance property adjusters. That background still shapes how the company handles hail and storm damage claims for homeowners and businesses across the region. The Amarillo office installs and repairs composition, metal, wood shake, and tile roofs, and manufactures its own custom gutters and skylights in house. The company belongs to the Texas Panhandle Roofing Contractors Association and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, is licensed and bonded with the City of Amarillo, and has held BBB Accreditation with an A+ rating since 1983. This Amarillo listing is one of two related Andrus family branches in RCAT's directory. See notes for how it relates to the separate Lubbock office.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0259 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Big thanks to Andrus Brothers and Joe Banks for taking good care of me once again. I also want to call out Sylvia today. I was running late to drop off my payment and arrived after closing. She got back out of her car to take my check in, and she called Joe to find out exactly where my certificate was. Her extra time and effort saved me a trip to Amarillo and was greatly appreciated. Thank you, Sylvia!

Chris with Andrus Brothers was great! We wanted him to give our home a green light on the roof during our home purchase process, and he did a complementary inspection for us. The previous home owner had the roof repairs done by their builder, as the house was still under warranty. I just didn’t trust that so Chris followed up on all of it and made sure things were done right! He was a great communicator and very timely. I feel good about our roof now and he will be our guy going forward!

Andrus Bros has taken tremendous care of twice now. Twice our roof was totaled and both times Andrus Bros met our insurance adjuster at our home to make sure we got what we needed! Both times they quickly installed a beautiful, quality roof! Thank you guys!

From my initial phone call to final inspection Andrus Brothers Roofing Amarillo Texas executed on all levels with great professionalism thus exceeding my every expectation. My salesman Erik Rivas met the adjuster at my property and worked with the insurance company taking most of the responsibility off my plate. Roofing crew's professionalism and workmanship was just as impressive as their service! I strongly recommend Andrus Brothers Roofing for all your roofing, skylight and gutter needs.

Frequently asked

Is Andrus Brothers Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofing company can be state licensed in Texas because Texas has no statewide roofing license. Trust is instead based on insurance coverage, city registration, and industry credentials like RCAT status. Andrus Brothers Roofing is licensed and bonded with the City of Amarillo and holds RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential through Chris Andrus (CRRL).
What does it mean that Andrus Brothers Roofing is an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor rather than just a Member?
The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT) has two different standings. Plain Membership only requires paying dues, while the Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (shown here as CRRL) is separately earned. The Amarillo listing shows RCAT membership since 2017 along with the CRRL credential held by Chris Andrus.
How can I verify Andrus Brothers Roofing carries liability and workers' compensation insurance?
Ask the company directly for a current certificate of insurance naming you as the job's certificate holder, then confirm it with the issuing insurer before work begins. This listing reports RCAT status and public credentials, but insurance verification is a separate step homeowners should always take.
Does Andrus Brothers Roofing install impact resistant, Class 4 shingles for hail?
Yes. The company's Amarillo site lists composition impact resistant shingles among its shingle options, which matters in the Texas Panhandle's Hail Alley, where Class 4 shingles can also qualify homeowners for insurance premium discounts.
Does Andrus Brothers Roofing help with hail and storm insurance claims?
The company's founders, Jerry and Steve Andrus, both worked as insurance property adjusters before starting the business in 1982, and the company's marketing emphasizes storm damage restoration and consumer scam prevention education.
What areas does the Amarillo office of Andrus Brothers Roofing serve?
The Amarillo office serves Amarillo and the surrounding Texas Panhandle. The broader Andrus Brothers family business also has a separate office in Lubbock (see notes for how the branches relate).
What roofing materials does Andrus Brothers Roofing install?
The Amarillo office installs composition (laminate, impact resistant, and designer) shingles, metal roofing, wood shakes and shingles, tile, and commercial systems like TPO, modified bitumen, and standing seam metal.
Are permits required for a roof replacement in Amarillo?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled city by city. The City of Amarillo requires permits and inspections for roofing work, and Andrus Brothers Roofing states it is licensed and bonded with the city.
What should I ask a roofer before signing a contract in Texas?
Ask for proof of insurance, confirm their RCAT status (Member versus Licensed Roofing Contractor), get a written scope of work and materials list, ask about warranty terms, and check references from recent local jobs before signing anything.
How long has Andrus Brothers Roofing been in business in Amarillo?
The company was established in Amarillo in 1982 by Jerry and Steve Andrus and has been BBB Accredited with an A+ rating since 1983, making it over four decades old.
