Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0549 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Exceptional service from start to finish! When we discovered our roof was leaking, Justin and his crew responded immediately and came out right away to assess the problem. Their team was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly efficient. They quickly identified the issue, explained everything clearly, and provided fast, high-quality repairs that gave us peace of mind. It’s rare to find a company that truly cares about urgency and customer service the way they do. We are so grateful for their prompt response and excellent workmanship. Highly recommend them to anyone needing reliable, honest, and immediate roofing help!

Justin at Alexander Roofing was wonderful to work with - very responsive, very helpful & experienced. His company provided guttering, a beautiful new roof, coordination of a warranty issue, and cleaned up after the job beautifully. I highly recommend Alexander & Sons Roofing Co!

This is our second time using Alexander & Sons. Last year, they did a great job replacing all our windows so when we discovered a hole in our roof we called them right away. They quickly did a temp repair and then were able to come back right away to replace the roof. Justin and Dean were great to work with! The new roof looks great! Job site was cleaner than it was before they came. Definitely recommend for windows or roofing.

I’ve been putting off my gutter repair until Barb & Tom (my neighbors) had Alexander do theirs. Justin came by and gave me a quote. He was here the next Friday and put in 5” gutters and downspouts. He did a WONDERFUL job! Any questions I had he was quick to truthfully answer me. My house looks great now as you drive by.

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state license for roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no statewide roofing license. Homeowners should instead confirm a contractor's liability and workers compensation insurance, and check its standing with an industry association such as RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas).
What does it mean that Alexander and Sons Roofing is RCAT Licensed rather than just an RCAT Member?
RCAT offers a basic paid Membership open to any contractor, and a separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL) that requires meeting RCAT's additional standards. Alexander and Sons holds the Licensed designation under owner Justin Alexander, which homeowners can verify directly on the RCAT website.
Is Hurst prone to hail damage?
Yes. Hurst sits in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, part of what roofers call Hail Alley, where large hail is a leading cause of roof damage and insurance claims in North Texas.
What is a Class 4 impact-resistant shingle, and should I ask for one?
Class 4 shingles are laboratory rated to withstand hail impact better than standard shingles, and some Texas insurers offer a premium discount for installing them. It is worth asking a contractor whether Class 4 shingles are available for your roof.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Hurst?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is handled city by city. Homeowners should confirm with the City of Hurst's building department, or ask their contractor to confirm, whether a permit is required before work begins.
What should I ask a roofing contractor before signing a contract?
Ask to see proof of current general liability and workers compensation insurance, get the scope of work and materials in writing, confirm who pulls any required permit, and get copies of the manufacturer and workmanship warranties before signing.
Does homeowners insurance cover hail or storm damage to my roof?
Most Texas homeowners policies cover sudden hail and wind damage, though coverage and deductibles vary by policy. Homeowners should review their own policy and can ask a roofing contractor to help document damage for a claim.
Can Alexander and Sons Roofing help with an insurance claim or a real estate transaction repair?
Yes. The company assists homeowners with insurance claims for storm and hail damage, and also handles roof repairs tied to home sale transactions.
Is Alexander and Sons Roofing accredited by the Better Business Bureau?
Yes. BBB records show Alexander and Sons Roofing as a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited since December 2025.
How can I confirm a roofing company's insurance before hiring them?
A reputable contractor will provide a certificate of insurance directly, or through their insurance agent, upon request. Homeowners should confirm the certificate is current and lists appropriate liability coverage before work begins.
