Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Homer came out to look at a small roof leak from one of my flue pipes. He gave me an honest assessment and bid to replace the worn out 'boots' around all of the exterior pipes (that originate from the interior of the attic). No pressure. No mention of needing to replace the entire roof. Just a specific repair quote. Work was done the next day. He came out and inspected the work that his crew did prior to asking for payment. Would recommend these folks to anyone.

Frequently asked

Does Texas require a state roofing license?
No. Texas has no statewide roofing license. Instead of a state license, homeowners should verify a contractor's general liability and workers compensation insurance and check its registration status with organizations like RCAT.
What does it mean that 3 Eagle Elite Roofing is an RCAT Member?
RCAT Member status means the company pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. It is a separate, lower bar than RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor (CRRL/RRL/CRL) credential, which is separately earned. Homeowners should ask which designation a contractor actually holds.
Is the Katy area subject to WPI-8/TWIA coastal windstorm rules?
Generally no. Katy and the western Harris County area are well inland of the 14 first-tier Gulf Coast counties where WPI-8/TWIA windstorm certification applies. Homeowners closer to the coast should confirm requirements with their insurer.
Should Houston-area homeowners consider Class 4 impact-resistant shingles?
It is worth asking about. Hail is a significant risk across Texas, including the greater Houston area, and Class 4 impact-resistant shingles can reduce hail damage and may qualify for insurance premium discounts.
Does the Katy area require a roofing permit?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting rules are set locally. Homeowners in Katy or unincorporated Harris County should confirm permit requirements with the relevant city or county building department before work begins.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Ask for proof of general liability and workers compensation insurance, a written scope of work, material specifications, warranty terms, and whether the company's own crew or a subcontractor will perform the work.
Does 3 Eagle Elite Roofing help with insurance claims?
The company's website states it offers insurance claims assistance as part of its service menu, in addition to roof repair and replacement.
What roofing materials does 3 Eagle Elite Roofing work with?
Its website lists asphalt shingles, cedar shakes, torch-down (modified bitumen) roofing, standing seam metal roofing, and TPO flat roofing.
Does 3 Eagle Elite Roofing serve both Houston and San Antonio?
Yes. The company lists a primary office in Katy in the Houston area and a second office at 10127 Morocco St in San Antonio.
Is 3 Eagle Elite Roofing BBB accredited?
As of this review, its BBB profile states it is not a BBB accredited business, though the company has an open BBB file dating to 2023.
