About

Triple Crown Roofing & Construction works from 1409 Shannon Road East in Sulphur Springs, the seat of Hopkins County in Northeast Texas. Blake Johnson is president and the RCAT licence holder, listed with a Commercial and Residential Roofing License (#03-0287) and OSHA 30 certification, and Lindsey Johnson, a former licensed property claims adjuster, runs the office. The BBB profile shows incorporation in 2007 and accreditation since 2010 with an A+ rating. Commercial work is the larger part of the business. The company installs TPO and PVC single ply systems and Duro-Last, applies roof coatings, and runs maintenance, repair and emergency response, alongside a national contracting program for Sonic Drive-In franchise owners that covers canopies, towers, signage and HVAC. Residential work centres on shingle systems and on hail and storm damage assessment. Regional offices for DFW and East Texas sit alongside the Sulphur Springs base, with dedicated phone lines for each. Manufacturer credentials hold up at source. GAF lists the company as a Master Elite contractor, the tier that carries the Golden Pledge limited warranty, and Owens Corning lists it as a Preferred Contractor. The company additionally states that it is a CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster and a certified installer for Carlisle, Duro-Last and Versico, that it is an NTRCA member, and that it is an approved TIPS purchasing co-operative vendor for schools, government and non-profit buyers.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0287 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Triple Crown Roofing is the best roofing company in northeast Texas in my opinion. The workers are professional and produce top quality work and the owner uses materials that are backed by warranty. I have worked with Wilson on three different projects now and each one has been seamless. If you need a roof, residential or commercial, call Triple Crown.

Had a new roof put on by Triple Crown Roofing. Very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and always on time. Clean up afterwards was super. Looked like there was no big roofing job done. All the guys working on roof were friendly and very professional. I recommend them to anyone who needs a new roof. Great job! Thank you!

Triple Crown has helped many of my homeowner clients with their roofs. They are fairly priced and perform quality work! They have done work for me personally as well- a Commercial replacement that was a great job! They have good follow through and clean up. I like Triple Crown because they are individually owned and care about their clients and reputation.

Varmint Problem Solved & We Very Highly Recommend Triple Crown Roofing! Squirrels ate through the metal plate in our air vent and had built a nest in our attic. We trimmed all the trees touching the house but the squirrels still would travel in and out and nothing we could buy online with radio frequency waves supposed to deter them worked. We contacted Triple Crown & they showed up on Saturday at 8 AM during the COVID-19 taking all necessary precautions. We were overwhelmed not only by the professionalism shown but by the fact that they took initiative to solve two other problems on the roof and replaced other vents to prevent further squirrel infestation. Additionally there was a piece of wood that the squirrels ate off the trim of the house and they repaired it without us asking! We feel confident in recommending Triple Crown Roofing! Thank you for going above what we needed!

About a year ago we had given up on our insurance company actually paying to replace our roof. We had several local roofing companies give us quotes and even talk to our insurance company, but because of loopholes and insurance mumbo jumbo and the runaround that comes with that, they were unwilling to fight for us. ENTER TRIPLE CROWN ROOFING. They simply would not take no for an answer. Not only was my roof replaced but I was also given an apology from the insurance adjuster assigned to my case for the delays and unwarranted runaround I was given. Thank you Blake Johnson and Brian Burney for fighting on my behalf. We have a beautiful roof and the peace of mind knowing it’s there. This company does what they say they will do.

Frequently asked

Is Triple Crown Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas issues no state roofing licence, so nobody holds one. The credential that exists is the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor, and Blake Johnson holds a Commercial and Residential Roofing License, #03-0287, on the company's RCAT record. Beyond that, ask for a certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance sent to you directly by the insurer.
What does GAF Master Elite mean and can I verify it?
Master Elite is GAF's top contractor tier. It requires several years of trading, proof of insurance and a track record, is renewed annually, and it is what allows a contractor to offer the Golden Pledge limited warranty. You can verify any company's tier yourself on the GAF contractor locator, which is where this listing was confirmed.
Does Sulphur Springs get enough hail to justify Class 4 shingles?
Yes. Hopkins County sits in the Northeast Texas storm track, and severe spring hail is a regular event rather than a rarity. Class 4 impact rated shingles are tested against a two inch steel ball dropped from twenty feet, and most Texas carriers discount premiums for them, so ask your insurer for the number before deciding.
What is TIPS and why does it matter for a school or a city?
TIPS is a co-operative purchasing programme used by Texas schools, government bodies and non-profits. Buying through an awarded TIPS vendor lets a public buyer skip running its own competitive procurement, because the co-operative has already done it. Triple Crown holds a TIPS vendor listing for roofing.
Which flat roof system should a commercial building owner choose?
It depends on the deck, the drainage and how long you intend to hold the building. TPO and PVC single ply are the common choices for new low slope work, Duro-Last is a prefabricated PVC option that reduces field seaming, and a coating can extend a sound existing roof for less money than a tear off. Get the options priced side by side with warranty terms attached.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Membership means paying dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (RRL, CRL or CRRL) is earned separately, through experience and examination, and is held by a named individual. A company can be a member without holding the licence, so check which one is actually being claimed.
Can a roofer pay my insurance deductible for me?
No. Texas Insurance Code Chapter 707 makes it illegal for a contractor to waive, rebate or absorb an insurance deductible, and requires contractors to state in writing that you are responsible for paying it. Any offer to cover it should end the conversation.
Do I need a permit for a reroof in Sulphur Springs?
Permitting in Texas is handled city by city and county by county because there is no statewide code enforcement. Inside Sulphur Springs city limits a reroof generally requires a permit and a final inspection. Ask your contractor to pull it in their own name and to hand you the closed inspection when the job finishes.
How do I handle a hail claim without getting into trouble?
Have the roof inspected and photographed before you file so you know whether the damage is claimable. File with your carrier yourself, meet the adjuster on site, and bring your contractor to that meeting. Do not sign anything that assigns your claim benefits to a contractor, and read any contingency agreement carefully before signing.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Ask for insurance certificates direct from the insurer, the RCAT record and licence number, the manufacturer certification and its tier, who pulls the permit, the length of the workmanship warranty and what voids it, the payment schedule, and whether the crew is employed or subcontracted. Get every answer in writing before paying a deposit.
