Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We had an amazing experience with Project One Roofing. Shiloh Childress was so pleasant to work with and immediately responded to our request to come out and take a look at our roof. He was able to identify the problems and have them fixed within 48 hours of contacting him. We would highly recommend this company for all your roofing needs.

Jeremy was great! Called him to do a roof repair and he was at my house within an hour and got it done even though it was extremely windy that day! Did a good roof inspection also!!! Will be using Project One again! Thanks for the quick service Jeremy!

I had my roof replaced several months ago. Jonathan and Jeremy were great to work with. Work was done in a very timely manner and they worked well with my insurance and provided me with a certificate which got me a $400 discount on my insurance renewal. We just had a bad windstorm/tornado come through and I contacted them to come out and assess and damage. Immediately received a call back and they’ll be out today or tomorrow. Great company and quality work!

I came across Project One Roofing after multiple failed attempts with other companies when a tree feel on our home last year and damaged the roof. Now I’m glad the others didn’t work out. Gabriel Vasquez and his crew are amazing! The entire team at Project One Roofing have been easy to work with and have worked hard with our insurance to make sure the right repairs were made! Don’t bother checking around if you need any type of work done on your roof, call Gabriel and the team at Project One! 💯

We had a awesome experience with Project One Roofing Company. Shiloh Childress was a pleasure to work with. He completely took care of us from day one. He helped with the insurance claim to final cleanup. Roof was completed in one day. I appreciate that Shiloh took the time to update me in every detail of the process. Very professional, friendly and really cares about his customers. We are very happy with our new roof, Shiloh and this roofing company.

Frequently asked

Is this a separate business from the Tyler area Project One Roofing?
It is the same brand operating a second office. The Sulphur Springs branch has its own street address in Hopkins County, its own local phone line, its own Facebook page and its own chamber of commerce membership, and it is registered with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas under its own record. The main Texas office is in Whitehouse, near Tyler.
Does a roofer in Sulphur Springs need a Texas state licence?
No. Texas does not license roofing contractors at the state level, so nobody in Hopkins County can be state licensed. What you can verify is general liability and workers compensation insurance directly with the insurer, standing with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, and City of Sulphur Springs permitting requirements.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Membership means the company pays dues to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is a separate qualification earned through documented experience and testing. This Sulphur Springs record is listed as a Member, which is not the same as holding the licensed credential.
How much hail does Northeast Texas get?
Hopkins County and the surrounding counties see regular spring and early summer hail, and Northeast Texas also takes high straight line winds from the same storm systems. Hail bruising often does not show from the ground, so a post storm inspection is the usual way to find out whether a roof was actually damaged.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth the upgrade?
Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 impact test. In hail prone parts of Texas many insurers give a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, and the shingles usually shrug off the moderate hail that would mark a standard product. Confirm the discount with your own carrier and make sure the Class 4 product is named on the contract.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Sulphur Springs?
Texas has no single statewide residential code authority, so permitting and inspection are handled locally. Addresses inside the Sulphur Springs city limits go through the city, and rural Hopkins County addresses follow different rules. Ask the contractor to pull the permit in its own name.
What roofing systems does this company install?
Its published range covers architectural asphalt shingles including CertainTeed Landmark PRO, standing seam and other metal, slate, cedar shake, and low slope membranes such as TPO, PVC and EPDM plus roof coatings. That spans both residential steep slope and commercial low slope work.
Can the company help with a hail insurance claim?
It advertises storm damage work and insurance claim assistance. The claim itself is between you and your carrier: you report the date of loss, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues a scope and estimate less your deductible. Texas law prohibits a contractor from paying or absorbing your deductible.
What are the office hours?
The Sulphur Springs page lists Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, with Saturday by appointment. Emergency repair requests are handled outside those hours.
What should I ask before signing a roofing contract?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly by the agency, a written scope that names the exact shingle or membrane, allowances for decking replacement and ventilation, the manufacturer warranty tier, a separate written workmanship warranty, and who the site supervisor will be. Confirm which office is doing the work and get the local address on the paperwork.
