About

Torres-Boren Roofing, Inc. is a second generation family roofing contractor at 1202 Wendell St in Cleburne, the Johnson County seat south of Fort Worth. The company's own About page records that it was established in 1991 by Ubaldo Torres and Maria Isabel Torres, and that Kevin and Mary Boren joined the business in 2009. Kevin Boren is the contact listed on the company's RCAT record, which shows RCAT membership since 2016. The company handles residential and commercial roof repair and replacement across Johnson County, and names asphalt shingles, wood shingles and slate among the roof types it works on. It states that it is insured and bonded, keeps bilingual staff, delivers most estimates within 24 hours, and takes cash or check only, which is worth knowing before you book. Johnson County sits in the North Texas hail belt, so hail bruising and storm claims are the usual reason a roof here comes up for replacement. The company is not BBB Accredited; its BBB file was opened on 11/20/2025 and carries an A- rating, which BBB attributes to the length of time the business has been in its file rather than to any complaint history.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I called for a smaller repair on my roof. Kevin put me on the schedule for the next morning. He arrived on time, and made the repair the same day. He also took the time to explain what was happening with my roof, was very professional and friendly. There was no high pressure sales pitch to do more than I needed, and even walked me through what an insurance claim would look like if/when I needed it. These folks will be the first call the next time I need roofing work done.

Could not have asked for a better roofing company. This crew is some of the hardest working people I have seen. Family owned business that keeps the small business values of caring about the customer. Not only did they do an excellent job with the roof, their cleanup job was impeccable. It’s literally like they were never here. Thank you Kevin for taking such great care of us! Highly recommend

We had a small leak, Kevin came out, inspected everything for us and fixed us up! Highly recommend Kevin and his team!

I called Kevin about a leaking skylight, with the knowledge that our roof is also aging. He was prompt, warm and personable, but also very professional and very straight forward with understandable and immediate information. He was able to perform a simple fix for what looked like a serious problem, and give us the information to make an informed decision on moving ahead with a new roof. It was refreshing to feel no pressure, but we got true, honest information that was much needed. We look forward to working with him and his team soon.

About a year ago I was purchasing a new home and my inspection warranted some huge concerns. I reached out to Torres-Boren and Kevin went out to the house while I was at work. Kevin gave me his professional opinion and helped me make a decision for myself. At the end of the call Kevin told me he wasn’t going to charge me for the visit and wished me the best. Kevin was not only a professional but he provided me the fatherly advice I needed. I can’t thank him and his company enough, all I know is when the time comes and I need a new roof or a friend needs a recommendation. Kevin is who I will call.

Frequently asked

How is the company's name actually spelled?
Torres-Boren Roofing, with a hyphen. The company's own website and its BBB profile both use the hyphenated form. The RCAT directory renders it with spaces around the dash, and some data feeds mangle it further, but the hyphenated spelling is the company's own.
Is Torres-Boren Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas issues no state roofing licence, so no Texas roofer holds one. This company appears in the RCAT directory as a Member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, with Kevin Boren as the listed contact.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed?
Member means the company pays dues to the association. Licensed is a separate credential earned by examination and issued as residential (RRL), commercial (CRL) or combined (CRRL). Torres-Boren Roofing is recorded as a Member, which is not the same thing as holding the Licensed credential.
How long has the company been in business?
Its own About page states the business was established in 1991 by Ubaldo Torres and Maria Isabel Torres, and describes over 30 years of industry experience in Johnson County. Kevin and Mary Boren joined in 2009.
How does it take payment?
The company states cash or check only. Confirm that before scheduling if you were planning to pay by card or to finance the work, because it changes how you would need to handle a large replacement.
Why does hail matter for a Johnson County roof?
Johnson County sits in the North Texas hail belt, where spring storms regularly bring hail large enough to bruise asphalt shingles. The damage often does not leak straight away, so a post storm inspection is worth booking even if the roof looks fine from the driveway.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Cleburne?
Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 impact test and stands up to hail bruising better than standard architectural shingles. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, so ask your own carrier what that discount would be before deciding.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Cleburne?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permitting and inspection are set by each city and county. Check the City of Cleburne or Johnson County requirements for your address, and confirm the contractor pulls the permit rather than asking you to.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance?
Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers compensation, and ask the agent to send it to you directly rather than accepting a forwarded copy. Check that the policy dates cover the whole of your project.
Does coastal windstorm certification apply here?
No. WPI-8 certification through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association applies only to the 14 first tier Gulf Coast counties. Johnson County is inland, so hail resistance, decking condition, ventilation and local permitting are what to focus on.
