Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

City/county registration Required in Frisco Check the registry ↗Contractor Registration (Building Inspections Division; City Code Article II - Contractor Registration). Registration is required here to pull a roofing permit; we have not confirmed this company's own status, so check it before you sign.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0232 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I was referred to this company by my insurance provider. I scheduled an appointment with Juan, who was supposed to meet with my insurance adjuster. On the day of the appointment, he called to cancel and said he wouldn’t be able to make it. Since then, I have reached out multiple times but have not received any response. Unfortunately, my experience with communication and follow-up has been disappointing.”

Working with Proficient Roofing was the BEST experience I've had with a repair/construction/home improvement company. They are professional, flexible, hard-working, efficient, and customer-friendly. They went out of their way to work with our insurance company to ensure our repairs were covered to the maximum extent possible. They used quality materials, their workers were friendly, professional, and well-trained, they were careful to clean-up our yard every day to protect our pets, and they went out of their way to make sure our end result not only functioned well but looked fantastic. I HIGHLY recommend this company!

I would highly recommend this company. When we had a storm in Feb of 2022, many roofing companies contacted us. I found this company online and been so glad that we chose them from all of the companies. Antonio's professionalism and honesty won us over. He was upfront about all costs and expectations and walked us through everything we needed to do. Since this was our first time needing our roof replaced he took the time to hand hold and explain the entire process and next steps along with expectations. I would highly recommend this company for anyone looking for a roof repair or replacement.

Proficient Roofing was extremely responsive & helpful when we needed to repair our roof after severe hail damage in Frisco Lakes. Angel Alvarez answered all our questions & worked with us and our insurance company. Proficient uses high-quality materials & we are very happy with our new roof. The subs that Angel used for our gutters, painting & windows were wonderful too. Angel made sure everything was protected before work began & even covered items in our attic for us. I highly recommend Proficient Roofing & having Angel as your project manager.

We just had an entire new roof including all new decking and gutters put on by Proficient Roofing. I had previously used them for two small repairs and was very pleased with their service. Our new roof is absolutely beautiful and done with the highest quality products and standards of installation. Juan worked closely with our insurance company who would not pre-approve the decking, so a gamble on our side, and due to his efforts the decking was fully covered. Absolutely wonderful company and I will be sure to refer them to anyone as well as use them for any personal needs in the future.

Frequently asked

Is Proficient Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so no roofer in Frisco can be state licensed. What you can check is real: general liability and workers compensation coverage verified with the insurer, standing with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, and any city registration Frisco requires. Proficient Roofing holds the RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
They are two separate things. Membership means a company pays dues and belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned separately through experience and testing. Proficient Roofing is listed with the licensed credential, which is the higher of the two.
Why does hail matter so much for a Frisco roof?
Frisco sits in the North Texas corridor often called Hail Alley, where spring storms can drop stones large enough to bruise or fracture shingles. Damage is frequently not visible from the ground, so an inspection after a significant storm is the normal way to catch it before leaks start.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Collin County?
Class 4 is the top rating in the UL 2218 steel ball impact test. In hail prone parts of Texas many insurers offer a premium discount for a Class 4 roof, and the shingles tend to survive moderate hail that would mark a standard shingle. Ask your own carrier what discount applies before you decide.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Frisco?
Texas has no single statewide residential code enforcement body, so permitting and inspection are handled city by city. Frisco issues roofing permits through its building inspections department. Ask your contractor to pull the permit in its own name and confirm the inspection was passed.
How does a hail insurance claim usually work?
You report the storm date to your carrier, an adjuster inspects, and the carrier issues a scope and estimate based on replacement cost less your deductible. A roofer can meet the adjuster and point out damage, but the contract is between you and the insurer. Texas law prohibits a roofer from waiving, rebating or absorbing your deductible.
What should I ask a roofer before signing anything?
Ask for the certificate of insurance sent directly from the agent, the full written scope including underlayment, decking and ventilation, the manufacturer warranty tier and the separate workmanship warranty, who the on site supervisor will be, and whether the crew is employed or subcontracted. Get everything in writing before work starts.
Does Proficient Roofing work on commercial buildings?
Yes. Its site lists commercial new construction, commercial re-roofing and commercial repair alongside its residential work, and BBB categorizes the company under commercial roofing and roofing consultants as well as general roofing contractors.
What roofing materials can the company install?
Its published material list includes architectural asphalt shingles, stone coated steel, concrete or clay tile and polymer slate. That range covers most Frisco neighbourhoods, including HOA areas that specify a tile or tile look profile.
How should homeowners deal with door knockers after a storm?
Storms bring out of area crews into Collin and Denton counties. Take the time to confirm a local street address, check the BBB record, verify insurance directly with the insurance agency, and never hand over an insurance check or sign a contingency agreement you have not read. A company with a fixed local office and a long BBB history is easier to hold accountable later.
