About

Mustang Roofing & Construction is a family owned roofing and general contracting business at 4150 FM 920 in Weatherford, Parker County, run by father and son Zane and Taylor Nixon. The legal entity is Mustang Industries LLC, and the company has recently begun trading publicly under that name, describing itself on its current site as Mustang Industries LLC, formerly Mustang Roofing & Construction. Its Better Business Bureau profile carries an A+ rating with accreditation since May 2023 and lists Mustang Roofing & Construction as an alternate business name. The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas directory lists the company as a Licensed Roofing Contractor holding Commercial & Residential Roofing License 03-0682, with Taylor Nixon carrying the CRRL credential. That is the separately earned RCAT credential rather than plain association membership, which is a meaningful distinction in a state with no government roofing licence. The company also states it employs HAAG certified inspectors for damage assessment and is a Varco Pruden certified builder for pre engineered metal buildings. The work spans residential and commercial roofing in asphalt shingle, metal, tile, TPO and modified bitumen, plus storm, fire and water damage restoration, insurance claim advocacy, remodeling and home additions, commercial tenant improvements and metal building construction. Coverage runs across Parker County and out into the wider Dallas Fort Worth area, including Aledo, Willow Park, Annetta, Millsap, Peaster, Brock, Azle, Mineral Wells, Possum Kingdom, Graham, Breckenridge, Stephenville, Granbury, Burleson, White Settlement, Fort Worth, Denton and Dallas. This is squarely inside Texas hail country, so hail and wind claims drive a large share of North Texas roof replacement.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0682 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Travis and his crew did a great job on my roof. After a tornado, Travis made himself available to walk through my house with my home adjuster to ensure nothing was missed. He made it a quick and seamless process. When his crew arrived in the morning they tarped around my house and put up tarps and boards over my plants and windows to ensure nothing would get broken and limit the mess from the roof removal. His crew was very respectful and cleaned up upon completion. Travis was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions I had about my roof. I would definitely recommend Mustang industries.

We had an excellent experience with this roofing company from start to finish. The entire process was smooth, professional, and stress-free. The crew showed up on time, worked efficiently, and left everything spotless when the job was done. The quality of workmanship is outstanding. A special thank you to Travis Nixon, who was our primary contact throughout the project. Travis was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and patient with all of our questions. He kept us informed every step of the way and made sure our tenants knew the day before he was going to drop off supplies. Communication and attention to detail truly set this company apart. If you’re looking for a roofing company that delivers top-quality work and exceptional customer service, I highly recommend them — and definitely ask for Travis Nixon!

Mustang Roofing and Construction just built a rental duplex for us. I can't say enough great things about them. The project was handled with professionalism and they met all the deadlines. In fact the project was completed prior to the original date. The duplex is well built and beautiful. Taylor communicated all the things that were important. We had issues dealing with the city and he handled it with expertise and thoroughness. We had to deal with acts of nature of a huge hail storm. He has been there every step of the way dealing with insurance and the adjuster. I feel so blessed to have Taylor and Mustang Construction as our builder.

We reached out to Mustang for some work at our church. Travis and Zane are so easy to work with, they are fair, reasonable, and absolutely delivered on everything in their quote. They went above and beyond to help us out in many ways and we really appreciate it, their knowledge and experience was evident immediately. I would use them again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, very competent, and dependable contractor. Thank you Mustang!

Frequently asked

Is Mustang Roofing & Construction licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not issue a state roofing licence. What this company holds is the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, listed in the RCAT directory as Commercial & Residential Roofing License 03-0682, with Taylor Nixon holding the CRRL designation. That is an industry credential earned through testing and experience, not a government licence.
What is the difference between RCAT Member and RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
RCAT Member means a company pays association dues. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credentials, CRRL, RRL and CRL, are earned separately through examination and documented experience and can be revoked. This company appears in RCAT's directory with the Licensed credential, which is the stronger of the two.
Why does the company also appear as Mustang Industries?
Mustang Industries LLC is the legal entity, and the business has begun trading publicly under that name. Its current site states Mustang Industries LLC, formerly Mustang Roofing & Construction, and the older mustangrfg.com web address now redirects to the Mustang Industries site. The BBB profile lists Mustang Roofing & Construction as an alternate business name for the same company at the same Weatherford address and phone.
Are Class 4 impact resistant shingles worth it in Parker County?
Parker County sits in the North Texas hail belt, where hail is the leading cause of roof claims. Class 4 shingles are tested to resist impact, and many Texas homeowner policies grant a premium discount for a Class 4 roof. Ask your carrier for the exact discount, then ask for the roof quoted both ways so you can compare the extra cost against the annual saving.
What does a HAAG certified inspector do on a hail claim?
HAAG certification is training in forensic assessment of roof damage, distinguishing genuine hail and wind damage from blistering, foot traffic damage or manufacturing defects. It matters on insurance claims because a documented, methodical inspection stands up better with an adjuster than a general opinion. The company states it uses HAAG certified inspectors.
How should I handle a hail damage insurance claim in North Texas?
Document the storm date, take your own photographs, file with your carrier promptly and get an independent roof inspection. Be aware that under Texas law a roofing contractor cannot act as a public adjuster on a claim they are also being paid to repair, so a contractor may assist and meet the adjuster but cannot negotiate the claim on your behalf as an adjuster.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Weatherford or Parker County?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is set locally. The City of Weatherford, surrounding towns like Aledo and Willow Park, and unincorporated Parker County each set their own requirements. Ask the roofer in writing who is pulling the permit and confirm the requirement with the relevant building department before work starts.
How do I verify a roofer's insurance before signing?
Ask the contractor's insurance agent to email you the certificate of insurance directly, and check that general liability and workers compensation are both current. Texas does not require roofing contractors to carry workers compensation, so confirm it explicitly rather than assuming a certificate covers it.
Does the company do commercial and metal building work as well as houses?
Yes. Alongside residential roofing it lists commercial roofing in TPO and low slope systems, commercial tenant improvements, general construction and pre engineered metal buildings, for which it states Varco Pruden certified builder status.
What should I ask before signing a Texas roofing contract?
Get the scope in writing with underlayment and ventilation specified, decking replacement priced per sheet, and cleanup and magnet sweep included. Confirm the workmanship warranty term and which manufacturer warranty is being registered. Ask what the deposit is used for, and confirm what happens if your insurance claim is denied or the settlement comes in below the estimate.
