About

Hometown Roofing & Restoration is a residential and commercial roofing and restoration contractor with a San Antonio office at 6200 UTSA Blvd Suite 201. The Better Business Bureau lists the business as starting on 1 October 2019 and incorporating later that month under the alternate name Vogt's Hometown Roofing LLC, with the head office in Boerne. Alongside San Antonio and Boerne, the company's own site lists offices in Austin, Marble Falls and Aransas Pass, plus one in Wichita, Kansas, all reached on the same (830) 428-2820 number. The work is split between roof replacement and repair (asphalt shingle, metal, tile and flat commercial systems) and storm restoration driven by insurance claims. BBB and the company both describe full property inspections and management of the claim from filing through negotiation to resolution, and the site adds siding, gutters, windows and water and fire damage restoration. Emergency service is advertised as available 24/7. On credentials, the company is BBB Accredited with an A+ rating (accredited 12 May 2021) and is listed in the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas directory. Its own pages also name the Central Texas Roofing Contractors Association, the Roofing & Solar Reform Alliance, Google Guaranteed status and installer certifications with GAF and Owens Corning, along with IKO and Sheffield Metals as material partners. The manufacturer certifications could not be confirmed on GAF's or Owens Corning's own contractor directories, so they are reported here as claims made by the company. Texas has no state roofing licence, so insurance certificates and these voluntary credentials are what a homeowner can actually check.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

This company AND its employees are AMAZING!!! They arrived bright and early to our location in Fredericksburg, worked on our roof all day in the Texas sun. They cleaned up thoroughly after they were done!!! We have one skylight and it had been problematic with minor leaking over the past 21 years. They found cracks in the plastic around the skylight (prehistoric skylight installation mounting) that made my skylight in need of replacement. I was shown photos of this before I was asked to authorize replacement. This was completed at the same time as the roof! I, as a business oriented housewife, have nothing but great things to say about Hometown Roofing & Restoration!! As a female, I always worry about being taken advantage of (adding unnecessary supplies or protection services) by doing business in a mostly male dominated area, but I was treated well, as someone who needed to keep costs down but at the same time receiving an excellent product and excellent service!!! Hats off to Hometown Roofing!!! If you use their services, please mention my name & that you saw my review !!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with these guys and are the proud owners of a beautiful roof! We literally keep looking at it because its so nice! (And so much nicer than our neighbors' roofs, haha) Just want to thank Bill and his team for such a thorough and professional job. They were on time, very detailed and cleaned up properly. It has been perfect, no more worrying when it rains if we will have a leak. Thank you for making it such a smooth and worry free endeavor!

When I called them they came out ASAP! They knew a leaking roof was serious for me. The customer service and time they spent was amazing. The care and knowledge from hometown. Is by far the best I received when calling other roofing companies. They are now my first choice for anything roofing related. Thank you to the team for such amazing and fast acting service. I look forward to having them fix a few other parts that I need to take care of. Thank you guys!

John Vogt and the Hometown crew worked with us to upgrade our roof and make many improvements that insurance originally didn’t want to cover. The adjuster lowballed us but John’s expertise got us a roof that we and our neighbors admire. Give Hometown a call for your roofing & restoration needs!

Frequently asked

Is Hometown Roofing & Restoration licensed by the State of Texas?
No roofer in Texas is. Texas does not issue a state roofing contractor licence, so there is no state board to look the company up on. What you can check is a current certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance, voluntary trade credentials such as RCAT membership, and the BBB file. Any Texas roofer implying a state licence is overstating things.
What does its RCAT status actually mean?
The company appears in the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas contractor directory as a member. Membership means the business pays dues and signs on to the association's code of conduct. It is not a government licence and it is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
A member has joined the association. An RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor (the CRRL, RRL and CRL designations) has additionally passed RCAT's own examination and requirements for that credential. The two are often blurred in marketing. If a specific credential matters to you, ask which one the company holds and check the RCAT directory entry.
Is the company BBB accredited?
Yes. BBB lists Hometown Roofing & Restoration as accredited since 12 May 2021 with an A+ rating. The BBB file records the business as started on 1 October 2019, with the head office in Boerne and the San Antonio office at 6200 UTSA Blvd Suite 201.
Which San Antonio areas does it cover?
Its San Antonio pages name downtown San Antonio, Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, the Medical Center and UTSA areas, Helotes, Leon Valley, Castle Hills, Shavano Park, Hollywood Park, Hill Country Village, Terrell Hills, Olmos Park, Balcones Heights, Kirby, Converse, Live Oak, Selma, Universal City and Schertz. Separate offices cover Boerne, Austin, Marble Falls and Aransas Pass.
Does it handle hail and storm insurance claims?
Yes. Both the company's own site and its BBB profile describe storm damage restoration through insurance claims, including full property inspections and handling the claim from filing through negotiation to resolution. Ask for the process in writing, including who communicates with the adjuster and what happens if the claim is denied.
Are Class 4 impact-resistant shingles worth it in Bexar County?
San Antonio sits in the part of Texas that takes repeated hail, so impact-resistant (Class 4, UL 2218) shingles are a common upgrade. Many Texas insurers offer a premium discount for them, but the amount varies by carrier and the discount is not automatic. Get the discount confirmed by your insurer in writing before you pay for the upgrade.
Who pulls the roofing permit?
Texas has no single statewide roofing permit process. Permitting and inspection are handled city by city and county by county, so the rules in San Antonio, Boerne and unincorporated Bexar County are not identical. Confirm with your local building department whether a permit is required, and get it in writing which party is pulling it.
What roofing materials does the company install?
Its site lists asphalt shingle, metal, tile and flat roofing on the residential side, and TPO, EPDM and metal systems on the commercial side. Named material partners are IKO, Owens Corning and Sheffield Metals, with GAF also referenced on the San Antonio pages.
What should a homeowner ask before signing?
Ask for a certificate of insurance sent directly by the insurer, a written scope with shingle line, underlayment, flashing and ventilation spelled out, the exact manufacturer warranty and separate workmanship warranty terms, who supervises the crew daily, and a payment schedule tied to milestones rather than a large deposit. Also note that Texas law bars a contractor from paying or rebating your insurance deductible, so treat any offer to waive it as a red flag.
