Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #02-0265 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

We had the pleasure of getting Jacob Kwiatkowski to do our quote and scheduling our new roof replacement. He was the absolute best! Roofers came on the day they were scheduled and on time, had our roof done in just a few hours! They cleaned everything up without asking. Our new roof looks great! If you are looking for a contractor to replace your roof, you would be doing yourself a favor to hire Hartman Roofing!

Hartmann Roofing did everything they said they would do. Easy to work with. Showed up at 7am working off at 5pm. No mess no trash. Unbelievable! I have used them along with my family with same results. I would recommend them for new or repairs even large buildings as they have roofed a 5000 sqft flat for me in the past. Even helped my son fight with an insurance company that refused to pay a claim only for my son to get a new roof with Hartmann help. Saved thousands. Call them if you want quality work.

I’ve had the pleasure on working with Hartman Roofing on two different occasions and have had two excellent experiences. I’ve worked with Ben Miller on my first home and Joe Dan Poulter on my current residence. Both guys have been fantastic to work with and did exactly as they said they would. Upon purchase of my current house, Kirby the owner, went by my house and examined the roof for me as a favor. The roof was older and was in question by insurance so I reached out to Kirby for guidance. Hartman Roofing is a stand up and stand out company and I highly recommend them for all your roofing needs.

This was a wonderful and easy experience! Kevin Castonguay is very personable and explained the roofing process very well. We loved the hickory color and look of the roof. Kevin was great at keeping in touch with us through this process. He even took care of sending the paperwork to our insurance, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. I highly recommend Hartman Roofing to everyone. You won’t regret it!

Frequently asked

Is Hartman Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas has no state roofing license, so no Midland roofer holds one. Look instead at RCAT affiliation, verified liability insurance, manufacturer credentials, and BBB history. Hartman Roofing, Inc. has been BBB accredited at its Midland location since 2009 with an A+ rating.
Where is the Midland office and who runs it?
The office is at 2419 E. Highway 80, Midland, TX 79706. Branch manager Joe Dan Poulter is the contact, at 432-522-1117 or joedan@hartmanroofing.com. The company suggests asking for him by name.
Is the Midland office a real branch or just a registration?
A real branch. It has its own street address and warehouse, its own phone, a named manager, and its own BBB accreditation. It opened in 1996 as the Midland arm of the Hartman Roofing company headquartered in San Angelo.
Why does it matter that the branch manager was an insurance adjuster?
Hail claims drive many Permian Basin roof replacements. A manager who worked as a licensed adjuster understands how insurers scope and price hail damage, which helps when your roof estimate needs to line up with the insurance adjuster's paperwork.
Are impact-resistant shingles a good idea in Midland?
Usually worth pricing. West Texas hail is the main threat to Midland roofs, and Class 4 impact-resistant shingles resist it better than standard products. Many Texas insurers discount premiums for them; confirm the class rating in writing and check the discount with your insurer.
Does Hartman Roofing handle commercial roofs in Midland?
Yes. Commercial roofing is one of its listed roofing types, alongside residential composition shingle, metal, stone-coated steel, impact-resistant, and cedar shake systems.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Midland?
Texas permitting runs city by city since there is no statewide building code. Inside Midland city limits, check with the City of Midland's building division, and ask your contractor who pulls the permit before work starts.
How established is Hartman Roofing?
The company began in San Angelo in May 1988 and describes itself as one of the largest roofing contractors in West Texas, roofing about 1,200 homes a year. BBB records show Hartman Roofing, Inc. incorporated in 1992, with company president Kirby Hartman.
What is the difference between an RCAT member and an RCAT licensed contractor?
RCAT membership means belonging to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas. The RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is a separate, earned qualification with testing and vetting. They are not equivalent, so ask which one a roofer actually holds.
What should I ask a Midland roofer before signing?
Ask for a certificate of liability insurance direct from the insurer, a written scope with exact products, who pulls the city permit, how the manufacturer warranty is registered, references from recent Permian Basin jobs, and staged payment terms rather than a large upfront deposit.
