About

Green Knight Metal Roofing is an Austin company that installs metal roofing and nothing else. Its site is explicit about the specialization: the company states it will not install asphalt shingles, cement tiles, or clay tiles, and it has focused on residential and commercial metal roofs across Central Texas since 2007. The company reports having installed millions of square feet of metal roofing in the region and also fabricates and supplies its own sheet metal. Product options include standing seam systems in a wide range of colors, and metal shingles made to replicate wood shake, Spanish tile, slate, and even asphalt shingles, in aluminum and steel with Galvalume finish options. Services cover metal roof replacement, metal roof repair, metal wall cladding, gutters, and storm damage work. The company is led by CEO Joel Kenty and president Jim Parish, holds an associate member listing with the Texas Association of Builders, and reports industry recognition including Metal Roofing Alliance and Metal Construction Association awards and an Inc. 5000 listing. It operates from an office on FM 1626 in south Austin, serving communities from Georgetown to New Braunfels.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #01-0454 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Several years ago I had my tar shingle roof replaced with metal. So when I needed new siding I called up Green Knight again to come and do the work. I could not be a more satisfied customer. My house is a fortress against the elements and it looks fantastic. I highly recommend this company.

We decided to replace a traditional asphalt roof with a metal roof as part of installing a whole house water catchment system to have the purest water possible. Joel Kenty, owner of Green Knight Metal Roofing, evaluated our roofing needs and provided us with an excellent choice for our new metal roof. We chose Green Knight over several other roofers based on quality of work and excellent reviews of previous jobs. We love the color and waffled look of our new metal roof. The dedicated, professional crew (not outsourced or temp workers but full time Green Knight crew)were systematic and efficient at removing our shingled roof and installing the metal roof which took a little under 10 days. Joel checked on progress of work almost every day and kept us informed of every detail. We highly recommend Joel Kenty and Green Knight Metal Roofing.

Green Knight Roofing absolutely knocked it out of the park with our new metal roof! From start to finish, the entire experience was outstanding. Joel Kenty, the CEO, was personally involved and truly exceptional—knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely cared about getting every detail right. His leadership clearly sets the tone for the whole company. The installation crew was fantastic: professional, hardworking, respectful of our property, and incredibly efficient. They cleaned up meticulously every single day and left the place spotless. The quality of workmanship is top-tier—everything looks perfect, the roof is beautiful, quiet during rain, and we already feel more confident about weather protection for years to come. We did a lot of research before choosing a roofer, and Green Knight Roofing was hands-down the best decision we made. If you're considering a metal roof (or any roofing project), do yourself a favor and call these guys first. You won’t find better service or better results. Highly, highly recommend! 5 stars aren’t enough. Thank you Joel and the entire Green Knight team!

Green Knight was great! We would definitely use them again. Michael, the sales rep, was helpful and knowledgeable about all the options! We had to wait several months for instillation due to supply chain issues, but our roof was worth the wait. The whole experience was great! Ismael, the contractor, texted me daily updates and photos of the progress. After the instillation I noticed the leaf guards were not reinstalled, and they came out quickly to fix the issue. We love our new metal roof, and have had lots of compliments from friends and neighbors.

Green Knight installed a new metal roof at our main house and "casita" in February 2026. We had a great experience. The crew showed up on time each day, were professional, addressed any questions or concerns, and cleaned up at end of each day during the 2 week job. We have gotten numerous compliments on the results. Joel, Michael, Ryan and Diego were a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend Green Knight!

Frequently asked

Does Green Knight Metal Roofing install shingle or tile roofs?
No. Green Knight is a metal roofing specialist and states plainly that it will not install asphalt shingles, cement tiles, or clay tiles. Every installation is a metal system, either standing seam or metal shingles.
Is Green Knight licensed by the State of Texas?
Texas does not license roofing contractors, so there is no state roofing license to hold. Green Knight is a Member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), a voluntary trade association. Always ask any roofer for current proof of liability insurance.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
Membership means the company belongs to the association; the Licensed Roofing Contractor credential is a separate certification an individual earns through testing and insurance verification. Green Knight is listed as an RCAT Member.
What metal roofing styles does Green Knight offer?
Standing seam panels in hundreds of colors and prints, plus metal shingles designed to replicate wood shake, Spanish tile, slate, and even conventional asphalt shingles. Materials include steel and aluminum with Galvalume finish options.
How does a metal roof handle Central Texas hail?
Metal roofs generally resist hail penetration well, and many metal products carry Class 4 impact ratings. Ask your insurer two things before buying: whether an impact-rated roof earns a premium discount, and whether the policy adds a cosmetic damage exclusion for metal roofing, which some Texas carriers do.
How long has Green Knight been in business?
The company says it has served Central Texas since 2007 and reports having installed millions of square feet of metal roofing on area homes and businesses in that time.
Does Green Knight do commercial work?
Yes. Alongside residential metal roofs it handles commercial metal roofing, metal wall cladding and siding, and sheet metal fabrication and supply for other projects.
Where does Green Knight work?
From its office at 303 E FM 1626 in south Austin, the company serves the greater Austin area and Central Texas, including Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, Pflugerville, Dripping Springs, Kyle, Buda, San Marcos, New Braunfels, and the Highland Lakes communities.
Do I need a permit to replace a roof in Austin?
Permitting in Texas is handled city by city, and Austin generally requires permits for reroofing work beyond minor repairs, with different rules in surrounding cities and unincorporated county areas. Confirm requirements with your local building department and ask the contractor who pulls the permit.
What should I ask a metal roofing contractor before signing?
Ask how long they have installed metal specifically, whether they fabricate their own panels, what gauge and finish the metal is, how penetrations and flashings are detailed, and what both the paint finish warranty and workmanship warranty cover. Verify liability insurance since Texas has no state roofing license.
