Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Ken is a patient at our dental office. I asked him and Good Contractors Roofing about an old patio roof that was leaking a lot. They fixed it right away, and the crew was fantastic! I’d definitely use them again and tell my friends about them. Thanks Ken and team GCR!

Ken and his team did an outstanding job of fixing our roof and noticed that our dryer vent was so full of lint that it could barely vent air. We were unaware that it had become a huge safety issue. Thankfully they fixed our roof issues and replaced and cleaned our dryer vent. We couldn’t be happier! Terrific communication and quality work!

After a house fire, you don’t just need a contractor — you need a team you can trust with your home, your family, and your sanity. Good Contractors Roofing & Restoration exceeded our expectations in every way. From the very beginning, they handled our fire restoration with care, professionalism, and constant communication. Fire recovery is overwhelming, and GCR took the weight off our shoulders by managing the process, coordinating trades, and staying on top of every detail. They weren’t just “checking boxes” — they actually cared about the outcome. Their team walked us through everything: roofing upgrades, paint, flooring, cabinetry, trim work, electrical, plumbing, insulation, and finishing details. When things weren’t perfect, they made them right. No arguments. No excuses. Just accountability. What stood out most was how personal the experience felt. They listened. They problem-solved. They treated our home like it was their own. After months of work, walking back into our finished home felt incredible — and that’s because of their hard work. If you’re dealing with fire damage, storm damage, or a major restoration, do yourself a favor and call Good Contractors Roofing & Restoration. These are the people you want in your corner when it matters most. Highly recommend. 10/10.

I used Good Contractors Roofing for a roof repair, and I couldn’t be happier with the service. Ken Donaghy reached out to me promptly, reviewed the issue, and scheduled a visit right away. He came out the same day and fixed the problem. Ken, it may have been a simple repair for you, but it gave us great peace of mind. I truly appreciate your professionalism, responsiveness, and dedication to helping us maintain our home. Thank you so much for your excellent service!

I cannot say enough about Good Contractors. They have done several jobs for us over the past few years, from flooring to a shower remodel with closet add on. Their crews are always very knowledgeable, experienced, and pleasant, and very respectful of my workspace , as I do work from home, whereas other Contractors have played load music and had a total disregard for my work time. My husband and I have been so impressed with every job they have completed, they have made our vision come to life. I will never use another contractor! we are looking to do additional work and excited to work with Good Contractors once again. Ken and his team are AMAZING!! If you want to work with the BEST, call Good Contractors!

Frequently asked

Does Texas license roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no state roofing license. The practical checks are a current certificate of liability insurance, a verifiable local address and history, and voluntary credentials such as RCAT status, NTRCA membership, or manufacturer certifications.
What does RCAT membership mean, and is it a license?
RCAT membership means the company belongs to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas and agrees to its code of ethics. It is not the same as RCAT's separately earned Licensed Roofing Contractor credential, which requires testing and proof of insurance.
What does Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status mean?
It is a manufacturer credential. Owens Corning screens Preferred Contractors for insurance and business standards, and the status lets them offer certain enhanced Owens Corning warranty options on qualifying roof systems.
How common is hail damage in Fort Worth?
Very common. North Texas sits in Hail Alley, and hail is the leading cause of roof replacement in the DFW area. After any sizable hailstorm it is worth getting a roof inspection even if damage is not visible from the ground.
Should I consider Class 4 impact resistant shingles in DFW?
Often yes. Class 4 shingles carry the highest hail impact rating, and many Texas insurers offer premium discounts for impact resistant roofs. Ask your insurance agent what discount applies before choosing materials.
Will insurance pay for my storm damaged roof?
Most Texas homeowners policies cover wind and hail damage minus your deductible. Texas law prohibits contractors from waiving or absorbing your deductible, so treat any such offer as a red flag.
Do I need a permit to reroof in Fort Worth?
Permitting in Texas is set city by city because there is no statewide building code authority for this. Check requirements with the City of Fort Worth or your own city's development services office, and confirm who will pull any required permit.
What warranty does Good Contractors Roofing offer?
The company advertises a 10 year workmanship warranty on its roof replacements, separate from the manufacturer's material warranty. Get both warranties in writing before work begins.
Is this company the same as The Good Contractors List?
No. The Good Contractors List is a separate DFW contractor vetting and marketing organization. Good Contractors Roofing & Restoration is an independent Fort Worth roofing company with its own website, address, and phone number.
What should I confirm before signing a roofing contract?
A written scope and price, proof of liability insurance, warranty terms for workmanship and materials, a payment schedule that avoids large upfront sums, local references, and who is responsible for permits and cleanup.
