Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this listing yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

Blake and Don at Fireman’s Roofing were great to work with and very honest guys! They were thorough with all details for the roof replacement at my elderly mom’s house. Blake was so patient working with my mom and communicating with us to ensure they were transparent with their pricing and providing quality materials. Her insurance company was very difficult to deal with and not wanting to cover many items that they should, but these guys went back to them to provide pics and documentation several times to keep fighting for the maximum benefits that should have right fully been covered. They personally inspected the job before and after to make certain we were happy and we have not had any issues at all with the work. These guys were fast to- got it all done in one day! Fireman’s Roofing did a fantastic job and I highly recommended using them if you are looking to replace your roof! Support your local family businesses!

Don and his team were so nice to work with. They spent 4 months helping us fight our case with our insurance company, and did a fantastic job replacing our roof and vents. They are by far the best group to have on your side! The project manager was always available and explained everything along the way. The day of the work, the crew showed up, got right to work and cleaned up along the way. By the time they were finished, the roof looked beautiful and the surrounding area was spic and span, not a nail left behind. 10/10, highly recommend this company.

If you’re looking for a roofing company you can actually trust, go with Fireman’s Roofing. We had storm damage to our home recently, and instead of dealing with a pushy salesman that swarmed our neighborhood, we got to work directly with the owners of Fireman’s Roofing, Don and Blake. They made the whole experience stress-free and even threw in a free upgrade for our roof vents! They were easy to reach and very transparent about the costs from start to finish. They didn’t push for extra costs or any unnecessary repairs. It’s rare to find this level of personal service these days.

Don and Blake were great to work with and truly care about their customers. They helped us get a new roof after storm damage and walked us through the entire process. Dealing with insurance can be stressful, but they made it much easier and kept everything moving smoothly. Roof replacement is a big job, and having Fireman Roofing and General Contractor on our side made a real difference. I’d definitely recommend them.

Blake and Brett are amazing and did great work. Got us scheduled in less than a week and fixed problems left by previous roofers. Finished the roof and clean up in the same day. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Frequently asked

Is Fireman's Roofing licensed by the State of Texas?
No Texas roofer is, because Texas has no state roofing license. What matters instead is insurance and voluntary credentials. Fireman's Roofing is listed as a member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), which is a trade association membership rather than a government license, and it is BBB accredited. Ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing.
Who owns Fireman's Roofing and General Contractor?
Founders Don Scott and Blake Bearden, both lifelong Texans and active local firefighters with over three decades of combined firefighting experience. BBB lists Don Scott as managing member. It is a different company from Firehouse Roofing of Rockwall, another firefighter-themed North Texas roofer.
How new is the company, and should that concern me?
BBB records show the business started in August 2024 and became BBB accredited in November 2024, holding an A rating. A newer company can still be a solid choice; the founders state prior roofing project management experience. With any young contractor, verify insurance, get the warranty in writing, and check recent local references.
What areas does Fireman's Roofing serve?
The company is based in McKinney in Collin County and serves customers within about a 100-mile radius, including Frisco, Plano, and the broader Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Does Fireman's Roofing handle hail damage claims?
Storm and hail damage repair is a core service. McKinney and Collin County sit in Texas Hail Alley, where spring hailstorms drive many roof replacements. Have damage inspected and documented before filing an insurance claim, and keep the adjuster and roofer scopes aligned.
Are impact-resistant shingles worth it in Collin County?
Often yes. Class 4 impact-resistant shingles are tested against hail strikes, and some Texas insurers offer premium discounts for them. Given how frequently North Texas hails, ask for a Class 4 option in your bid and confirm any discount with your insurer.
What services does the company offer besides shingle roofs?
Metal roofing, commercial roofing, roof inspections and repairs, and a full gutter line covering installation, repair, and cleaning. The company mentions Atlas shingle products such as Pinnacle Pristine for shingle work.
Do I need a permit to reroof in McKinney?
Texas has no statewide building code, so permitting is city by city. McKinney has its own permit and inspection requirements for roofing work; confirm current rules with the city or ask the contractor to handle permitting and show you the paperwork.
When can I reach Fireman's Roofing?
Posted hours are Monday through Saturday, 8am to 7pm, closed Sunday. The company lists a direct phone (214-325-7014) and an owner email on its website.
What should I ask a North Texas roofer before signing?
Ask for proof of liability insurance, a local address, the exact shingle brand and warranty terms in writing, who supervises the crew, and references from nearby jobs. After hailstorms, out-of-state storm chasers canvass Collin County; favor contractors with verifiable local ties, like a chamber of commerce membership and a BBB profile you can check.
