About

Blackhill Roofing Systems is the roofing division of Blackhill Restoration, a Central Texas property restoration company that BBB records show was incorporated on 4 November 2008. The roofing side was launched in 2016 after the restoration business began fielding steady roof work, and it operates from the company headquarters at 2004 Lamar Drive in Round Rock, Williamson County. The Round Rock operation handles full residential and commercial roof replacement, roof repair, roof maintenance, and emergency storm response, and it assists homeowners with documenting and filing hail and wind insurance claims. Materials the company describes installing include three tab and dimensional asphalt shingles, composite shingles, clay and slate tile, and metal panels in aluminum, steel, and copper. Blackhill publishes its own homeowner guide to Class 4 impact resistant shingles, which is the relevant story in the Austin and Round Rock hail corridor rather than any coastal windstorm rule. The company carries a listing on GAF's own contractor directory and is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited since 11 April 2011. Its locations page lists ten Texas metro areas (Austin, Belton, Bryan and College Station, Cypress, Dallas, Houston, Killeen, Lubbock, Marble Falls, and New Braunfels), each with its own local phone number.

Insurance & credential verification

Texas does not issue a state roofing license, so we verify companies the way homeowners actually can: confirming insurance coverage, checking RCAT (Roofing Contractors Association of Texas) status, and checking city or county registration where the local jurisdiction requires one. Every credential below links to the actual issuing organization's own public lookup — don't just take our checkmark for it. Always ask for a current certificate of insurance before signing any contract.

Confirm this licence yourself at web.rcat.net/rcat/search — search #03-0605 or the company name.

Confirm this yourself: ask the company for their certificate of insurance (COI). Note that RCAT's Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL or CRL) is earned and held by a named individual at a company, not by the business itself, which is why we name that person above where we know it; Texas issues no company roofing license at all. RCAT and NTRCA status can be checked in their own public directories (RCAT, NTRCA) — use the "Licensed"/"Accredited" filter to see more than plain membership. GAF's contractor verification tool and Owens Corning's Texas locator confirm those tiers directly; CertainTeed doesn't offer a comparable self-serve lookup, so ask to see that certificate in person. BBB accreditation and rating are on bbb.org. Houston's own published registered-roofer list is years out of date, so it isn't cited here at all — confirm registration by contacting the city directly. Corpus Christi's STAR program has its own online contractor registry — for any other city or county registration claim, confirm directly with that jurisdiction's permit office.

I had an upstairs plumbing leak that caused damage to our downstairs ceiling. Will with blackhill restoration came out and gave me some options. Once it became clear that it looked worse than it was and could likely be treated DIY, he gave me very detailed instructions on exactly what to do so we could confidently manage the situation ourselves. He was extremely professional and great with my curious 7 year old daughter. They answered the phone when we called, came out early the next day right on time, and were honest with us instead of trying to make a quick buck. I am so impressed with this company’s professionalism and integrity.

Working with Blackhill Restoration turned a very stressful moment into something much more manageable. Our ceiling got water damage a few days before our wedding, and Blackhill came out promptly to assess the damage. They helped us work with our insurance company to wait until after the wedding to begin restoration, which was very appreciated. We mostly worked with Will, and I was very impressed by his level of communication, knowledge, and amicability. It's always jarring to have people coming into your home day after day, but Will, and the other people at Blackhill Restoration were all the epitome of professionalism and put us at ease. I would definitely recommend this company and will be working with them again should more horrible things happen to our house haha.

Tim, Morgan and the crew did an exceptional job remediating a mold issue that had compromised my laundry room. Extremely responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful, and at a very reasonable cost. They made the process super smooth and I highly recommend them!

Tyree, was on time, well prepared, very respectful, courteous, he disclosed what was going to transpire with full transparency, fiduciary duties, and due diligence. I am highly confident in the training and work that was done by Tyree. Should any issues arise, I trust Blackhill Restoration with our new build.

I had a mini flood in the house. Very nerve racking. Called Black Hill and they came out pretty much right away. Explained the game plan. Devin was point person and Wilson came out as well. Hard working and professional.

Frequently asked

Is Blackhill Roofing Systems licensed by the State of Texas?
No, and neither is any other roofer. Texas does not issue a state roofing licence. What you can check instead is a roofer's insurance, its status with the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT), its BBB record, and whether the city or county requires registration for the permit on your job.
What is the difference between an RCAT Member and an RCAT Licensed Roofing Contractor?
They are two different things. Any company can join RCAT as a dues paying Member. The Licensed Roofing Contractor credential (CRRL, RRL, or CRL) is earned separately through RCAT's own testing and experience requirements. When a contractor says RCAT, ask which one it holds.
Does Blackhill Roofing Systems work in Round Rock and the rest of Williamson County?
Yes. The company headquarters is at 2004 Lamar Drive in Round Rock, and its published service list covers Round Rock plus Austin, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Hutto, Pflugerville, Leander, Liberty Hill, and Lakeway.
What are Class 4 impact resistant shingles and do they matter in Round Rock?
Class 4 is the top impact rating under the UL 2218 steel ball test. Central Texas sits in a heavy hail corridor, so a Class 4 shingle is the upgrade most often worth pricing here. Blackhill publishes its own guide to the rating on its website. Always confirm the specific product carries the Class 4 rating on paper.
Will a Class 4 roof lower my Texas homeowners insurance premium?
Many Texas carriers offer an impact resistant roof discount, but the amount and the eligibility rules vary by carrier and by shingle product. Ask your agent for the discount in writing before you choose the shingle, and keep the manufacturer's UL 2218 certificate with your policy documents.
Does Blackhill help with hail and storm insurance claims?
Yes. The company advertises free inspections and assistance with the roofing insurance claim process. Note that in Texas a roofer may not act as a public insurance adjuster on the same claim it is bidding, so keep the roles separate and read anything you are asked to sign.
Does the coastal windstorm rule (WPI-8 or TWIA) apply to a Round Rock roof?
No. WPI-8 certification and TWIA windstorm coverage apply only in the first tier Gulf Coast counties. Williamson County is inland, so no WPI-8 inspection is required. Hail resistance, ventilation, and correct flashing are the things to focus on here.
Who issues the roofing permit for a Round Rock re-roof?
Texas has no statewide building code administration, so permits and inspections are handled city by city and county by county. For a home inside Round Rock city limits that is the City of Round Rock. Confirm who is pulling the permit, the contractor or you, before work starts.
What manufacturer credentials does Blackhill hold?
Blackhill Roofing Systems appears on GAF's own contractor directory. Manufacturer programmes are worth checking at the source, because the certification level controls which enhanced warranties a contractor can actually register on your roof.
What should a homeowner ask before signing a Texas roofing contract?
Ask for the certificate of general liability and workers compensation insurance sent directly by the insurer or agent, the full scope in writing including underlayment, decking replacement rate, and flashing, who pulls the permit, the workmanship warranty term and who backs it, whether the crew is employed or subcontracted, and confirmation that the shingle carries the impact rating you were quoted.
